Hey there all the lovely people!!
Me is back with the episode discussion... well actually there isn't much to talk about we all know what happened... and I don't even feel like writing something because that would be taking sides and feeling bad about characters. The line between reel and real needs to exist. Here is my lame post of the day.
"Agar woh saleeke se torta mujhe
Mere tukre bhi uske kaam ajate" ...
That was satyug when Sita was asked to give agni pareeksha, not because Ram jee wanted it, but it was required nonetheless.
And in the kalyug it's Kanak's turn to give agni pareeksha, not because Uma is angry at being betrayed, but at the thought that Kanak would be so shallow and greedy to have her hands on the property (shop papers) that she is going to sell her soul for it. His fears are of Kanak's maan maryada and izzat. His rambha test has turned to an agni pareeksha, as if Kanak is ready to have physical relationship with him - he not the husband but the man who holds her shop... she would be characterless and shallow. Uma imagines the worst of his nightmare, Kanak sitting there agonized by his touch, yet lying down to give access to him. Uma screams and shouts and accuses her of treachery and betrayal.. he lights the bed on fire with Kanak on the bed along with the papers. --- it's usually the diya/lamp one lights for light, ends up putting the entire life/house on fire. That lamp is what Kanak had bought, which ended up with Uma, but that same lamp was used to torch their world. Is it karma playing back at Kanak, for she burned with her own lamp, she actions led to this state. --- but the unsettling dream ends and Uma prays again that Kanak shouldn't come within his vision tonight. It's more like 'Kanak ka tou pata nahi, but he would end up doing something irrational. He sees a shadow at the door, he holds his breath as his fear is about to enter, he turns and looks the shadow has gone, he stands in front of Shivaji asking/questioning 'What next'.
Kanak prays to Shivji to get her over this test... she is ready to erase herself for the shop... she is going to the room, when she hears some noise in the store room, Palomi locks her inside. --- enter a weird Palomi, she is dressed up exactly like Kanak (two lehnga, two brides, double treat for Uma, is this suhag raat or buffet raat -- apologies for a poor joke) Palomi says she did patni dharm for years and Kanak only played character of wife. Palomi is all set to stake her place in Uma's life. She is at the door, when another person whisks her away from there. Seems like Massi is playing Cupid to Kanak and Uma union. A union that might burn their whole world down.
Kanak enters the room, and finds Uma deep in meditation-- the only thing that could calm him down.
The whole episode was brilliant but it's wasn't out of the world experience for very evident reason that the entire episode was floating through the internet for weeks now... even if we hadn't known earlier that this was a dream sequence, we would have known today at the beginning itself, as the door to their room remained open the entire time, and the sitaar that was the symphony of the day didn't let the bangles jingle, when he caresses her hand. It was a dream and I think it's safe to say that this whole night a lot of different people are going to imagine/dream a lot of different angles happening but nothing actually would happen... Uma wouldn't touch her nor would Kanak lose honor.
