TSMSPJ*ep.62*13.6.17: My Impression* half a loaf is better than nothing..
Many a times we settle for something less satisfactory than having nothing at all. We compromise for whatever little we receive, rather than end up with getting naught in hand. It's a state of mind where we may be put in a position to make choices. Our preference may indicate where we end up. For better or for worse. The episode today is about Payal. Her parents were offered the chance of putting up their daughter's life at stake. They did so, by honouring the age old tradition of child marriage. How this scenario fares in Payal's life is a hush hush affair in the new household where Kanak now weds into. Kanak wants to bite more than she can digest...
When part of family, is not the same as becoming family itself. The bold message for Kanak from Palomi is simmering rejection of Uma's wife. But for Kanak , It's not wholly out of place that she wishes to know more about Payal's husband. Who best to ask than Palomi .Kanak feels as she is part and parcel of this family , it's safe for her to be in the loop about family secrets. Seems to me, that Palomi is into keeping the confidentiality of the household, especially if it's to do with putting Uma in the spotlight. After all it's his trust she now aspires to gain. With Maasi it's touch and go. But Kanak too, is not one to give up easily. Apart from being a witness to Payal receiving a much harsher punishment than she did, Kanak's empathy with Payal eventually bends Palomi's elbow into finding out the complete tale of Payal's child marriage and her recent marriage to Aditya's photograph! Kanak finds out that the sanctity and finality of marriage is carried through whether it's celebrated between two people or one in person and the other represented by a photograph! The issue of mutual consent seems to be sidled.
Kanak's gut reaction after hearing the full story is cry of social injustice! Regards marriage with photograph. Maasi confronts her and argues it's all down to Payal's fate. It's apparent here, that where possible resistance and insurgence is found, especially in the unfair issue of child marriage too. Its down to Prividence. Kanak though finds it hard to swallow Maasi's stance it was predestined. That Aditya left home before marriage! boils down to Payal's destiny? the girls luck! While the man's disappearance prompts no alarm! To Kanak , Aditya is protected by his sheer luck of being a man! But Kanak fails to see the connection, of Aditya's walking out of child marriage and the poor girl's life! Kanak, sees that the way out of fate, is used to plug societal complaints and protest, against issues that are socially unjust. She has the countries legislative backing, that rules out marriage with a photograph. But Maasi waves it aside! reminds Kanak of her place in the family. Uma has accepted her, however ,whether the rest of the family accepts her now, lies very much in Kanak's hands. Basically Maasi reminds Kanak that she already has one serious incident against her name, so best if she keep off! from meddling into Payal's affairs.
As for Kanak, she aims to be part of this clan to get to the bottom of Payal problem as she senses it.It appears to her this lot live in their own world, live by their own guidelines, of traditional rules. She sees Uma at the summit of this law unto themselves state! A god who must be obeyed. Well if she has her way, rebellion she'll whip up against him!
Shiv wonders what his dadasa plans to do with the new medicine i.e Kanak and Payal mixing with the old? Would he do away with them as they fall short of being in line with house rules? Kanak too should learn, that Uma Shankar is no amateur player. He sticks at challenges and far from gives up! He teaches Shiv by sheer patience he will lose neither Payal nor Kanak! as he hopes that both will gradually fit into the regimen set up at home!
Meenakshi has a nasty go at Vikram's son Pavan. She sees him as her husband's fling!a foul mistake that Vikram tried to hide. But then, a lie does not live for long and truth even though much concealed is exposed eventually!
With the view ,to seek more of the concealed truth! Kanak is the food bearer for Payal in a room full of shrouded furniture. On a mat sits Payal, doing atonement for the sin she committed . The sin of covering up her gross misdeed. The room is a prison cell where she is meant to reflect on the corruption of her sin , in pin drop silence. To Kanak, the silence of Payal's damaged soul speaks. Kanak brings food not for her body, but food of support for her love starved spirit. Kanak refers to the sin both were guilty of more or less. She talks sense into Payal's equation.. that with foods it's more a person's likes and dislike that matters. Kanak senses that Payal tends to blame herself instead of others. She goes through logically that if Aditya deserted her ,it was a choice he undertook, he used his free will. She, or her fate cannot be held responsible for his action! She explains to Payal that both Aditya and her were strangers for each other. How was she to know? that he would leave her before marrying her? Kanak tries to scrape off Payal's self blame, her destiny for her husband leaving home. It's painful for Kanak to hear and see that despite a missing husband, Payal is still adamant to be connected to him! Without him she feels a nonentity! Payal's words of complete compliance to, something rather than nothing! wells Kanak,s eyes! She too can see a faint hope in Payal's tone.. being associated to Aditya's name lifts her spirits as she waits for his return. Kanak hugs her and cries.. yes she too hopes that one day Bhabo will stop blaming her for killing her parents and love her for who she is! The hug between Kanak and Payal is about the bond of erasing self blame and letting one despondent spirit sense from the other, that one does not need to walk alone! Support is about..
It's better to have a loaf than none at all. Something, as opposed to nothing. Kanak would rather have Bhabo's wrath then nothing at all . As Bhabo's blame on her, keeps the strong association between her and Bhabo. Bhabo on the other hand shows affection and blesses Rani ,may she be blessed with a good husband!. Kanak would go through anything to gain such love and blessings from her Bhabo.. However, like Payal, she will not blame herself for her parents death! Although like Payal, she too hopes for better days..
To reach better days, Kanak has to orchestrate a revolution against the outdated , unjust rules of Uma Shankar. She needs to learn enough about Uma, so she can begin the insurgence in this house. Mutiny against god Uma himself! Shiv her mole gives her all she needs to know.. the times ,Uma returns from work.. his concentration and reflective dedicated session on his day deeds . Shiv challenges Kanak, so devout and concentrated are Uma's meditations!that it's impossible to break it! Well Kanak takes up the challenge his mediation she will surely agitate! Hamlet53 14.6.17
