TSMSPJep:28*4.5.17:My Impressions* "the little rat in the house"..

A mole, belongs to the rodent family, a burrowing animal, that prefers to live underground. A mole also implicates the presence of an infiltrator, like a spy. A mole is someone who discloses sensitive information, while keeping his own identity a secret. A mole also is a raised dark growth on human skin, that catches attention and in some cultures seen as mark of distinct attraction or a blemish. In short it also forms as a sign of identification. In today's episode, Shiv himself refers to himself as being the little rat in the house. For Kanak ,in the episode certainly he will act as the mole for her to gain access to what she desires.

Now talking about a rat it's hard for me to forget one well know rat, a symbolic animal that acts as the carrier or vehicle for Lord Ganesh. Ganpati is the eldest son of Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati. Where yesterday's episode touches upon Lord Shiva's third eye. Today's reminds me of Lord Ganpati, the god of knowledge , intelligence and wisdom. Hindus believe that before embarking on any big venture , Bappa's blessing are sought , for the completion of the task without hindrance and negativity. Requests are made before Lord Ganesh for success and prosperity.

It's no coincidence, that after receiving the blessings of Lord Shiva himself, Kanak begins to make her way to seek the papers. If Uma Shankar is the one blessed with much knowledge and wisdom from Lord Ganpati , then his vehicle the rat! namely Mooshika is Shiv! He will be the one to brief Kanak about what she needs to know about the whereabouts of family members.Shiv does remind me of Mooshika, Baapa's carrier.. it's interesting to see the size difference between Bappa's and his mouse.. Mooshika is tiny and small compared to Lord Ganpati who is enormous! Well take a look at the size of Uma Shankar! and compare him with the teeny weeny Shiv!Truly the pair reminds me of the dimension and splendour of Lord Ganpati and his mouse Mooshika meek and minute! Kanak's friendly charm works wonders, and both have a light hearted conversation lined with devar bhabhi humorous touches! But Kanak knows when to veer Shiv ,the little rat! And eventually with his assistance she ends up in Uma's ayervedic consultation area. With little time at hand. Kanak seeks all the possible areas where Uma , can possibly keep the deeds she wants. Shiv creeps away and leaves her too it. Yet another inner sanctum, partitioned by curtains, makes Kanak speculate, as she goes through into yet another room ,surely this would churn up what she seeks! here.. Kanak is seen as the mouse! philosophically her human mind is the mouse..which has many desires, thoughts that are both negative and positive.. her mind for the minute is only on the papers!!

A pertinent question, what she is doing here? Makes her realize she is really trespassing! Encroachment of another's private area! Like a mouse she scampers.. being caught at nibbling food! Rushes through the curtains and bang! Where the two are skirting around each other all this time! They are now thrust into each other's arms by mighty divine forces! Uma is stunned by the collision! puzzled by her muffled Ram! Ram! Ram!an apology. But not to him .. to have her huddled against his chest, clenching on to his kurta in fright! This forced unexpected momentum is an aroma well pleasing. With hooded eyes he looked down at the top of her warm head pressed against his heart; that ring's out the melodies.. incomplete we are, apart we lived, now here we stand as the lamp and the wick .. if only you will accept that as the divine bond..as I see it! Spontaneously in response to her action his arms envelope her , with shy reserve. The magic ceases and modesty and decorum takes over as Kanak withdraws, more anxious about being caught red handed, and worst still by messing her mission. Uma is not going to blow his fuse! Not even if she is where she shouldn't be, he is just pleased at the brief but delectable even though forced encounter.

Kanak has no plausible answer to give him except a bag full of contradictory statements, which amuse him more than annoy him. Ganpati's mouse Mooshika, Shiv returns to own up he brought Kanak here.. and Kanak fumbles her cooked up story she came to return some papers he dropped. This whole scene has a romantic comedy taste to it! Both seem ,especially Kanak , to be making a mountain of a molehill. She merely tries to cover herself, by funnily , not turning a minor issue into a major one! Of her being found in his room! But then he can see she tries to understate but still won't hand over what she came to give him thus making this appearance somewhat exaggerated! But he takes the wallet any way! Kanak dreads her lie is out! yet this is Uma Shankar who flips any situation to suit himself! Her etching of lord Shiva, delights his very soul! He takes it as her approval of the name he give her! where as he concluded that she came here to contend about her name.. Uma's clearly shows his joy at seeing her here. He graciously compliments her fine art skills. Kanaks mind is like the mouse.. negative ,disappointing thoughts... she seems to have failed Bhabo! Uma attempts to carry on with the harmony promotion between them, with a touch of familiarity! this sketch is the second beautiful present she has gifted him.. Kanak gives him a helpless nonchalant gaze. While he teases would she like to know which was her first gift for him? rather meaningfully he unravels her teeth marks on his badly bitten skin! then calmly he covers his gaping wound up with his kurta.. still with great flair he unlocks his special cupboard where he'll give her second pride of place! He leans over to the lower self on his cupboard.. Kanak leans over close behind him, as she spots the papers she needs! Her nearness, her fragrance hits him.. as he pulls back he nearly comes to close for comfort ,than realizes his over exuberance and hastily restrains himself! When the coast is clear Kanak goes for the papers! But is stopped in her tracks, by Maasi's voice who calls out for Uma! and Kanak!to pack for the out of station purification ceremony! Kanak realizes that every time she is just about to achieve her goal massi turns up like the angel from hell ,to thwart her efforts.. or more like to salvage Uma s interests ! this trip to his cupboard proves a waste.. yet she knows about the cupboard and the key to her problems is very close to Uma's body!! Her next move has to be to get close to his body! Kanak's heart sink's and her body groans..but she needs to control the mouse of negative thoughts that eats at her mind..

The trip excites many , the sisters, Shiv , Payal. As expected Maasi would not be going, due to caring for massa . For some reason best known to Maasi ,she keeps Palomi behind with her too. Palomi s hopes are dashed. It's strange in spite of the fact that Uma is now married, there is no decrease in her ongoing devotion and service for Uma .She too in the mouse of her mind, in her thoughts , continues to desire Uma, now another's husband.. question is Palomi sees, that Kanak doesn't see Uma as her husband..Palomi still prepares the turmeric antiseptic paste. It's symbolic that she asks Kanak for the purifying agent of haldi.. its interesting to see that she prepares the healing paste for Uma.. thus she becomes the facilitator of yet another purposeful yet private and intimate meeting between Kanak and Uma. Suman sees Palomi's love for Uma as unconditional. Relating the symbolic figure of the mouse to the inner thoughts of Palomi's mind..she certainly so far proves positive for Uma and Kanak..Kanak gathers her wits about herself she has to get the keys from Uma. Its imperative she gets his key and the papers before they leave the house .. for the purification means one thing , she will have to become his wife for real!before it gets to that dreaded point.. she has to get the papers now!! but Uma is on his way to see some patient..she cannot wait! And this time funnily she runs after Uma like a film heroine!! He cannot go! He stops , turns his head, gives her a cold stare but proceeds to leave Kanak runs. Catches her veil on a nail. Her mantle tears and the whole family passes judgment of her ! she doing a runner.. Kanak's reputation follows her , unfortunately as all rally around her suspecting . Uma saves her , and appreciates her concern for as she puts, his open wound.. Uma is warmed. Shiv gives him a mischievous meaningful look, go for it!.. carries Ganpati's ,Mooshika! his Lord s wishes... Uma and Shiv relationship is like a friendship bond that Lord Ganesh shared with his mouse Mooshika!

He removes his shirt before her and asks for the haldi paste.. but Kanak applies the healing touch with her palm , but her eyes only stare at the key of her dreams, Bhabo's papers; hung on a string close to his body. In the precap Kanak gets her hands on the keys , he teases is she swotting mosquitoes ?

Overall for me a profound episode..I read up on the symbolic reference to Lord Ganesh's vehicle , the mouse, that is has connotations to one s mind. Which contains both good and bad elements..that the mouse can also be seen as an obstacle ,hindrance and can be destructive like a real mouse. Under such condition , the mind needs to be controlled. It is seen that Lord Ganesh rides ,or keeps the mouse by his feet.. to signify that by his powers of divine wisdom.. obstacles and negative elements are overpowered... hamlet53 5.5.17

@Hammie, girl you blow my mind. Beautifully crafted. A true word smith. I have nothing to add. Except maybe, Uma was shell shocked by the hug!! He froze so that the moment doesn't break should he move. I thought so anyway. Once again so beautifully written. 🤗

@Nimmi, this is so weird. I was thinking about you and was going to PM about the show and Uma Shankar. Here you are!! Do watch the episodes dearie!! 🤗

Wonderful post Hammie... I am loving US-Shiv-Kanak dynamics 😃

I felt this should be on pg 1 😛

Hammie am curious about the use of numbers in the show...

But keeping it aside for a while I have a doubt. In DABH Bhabho had gifted the shop to Kanak or let's say named it after her. And now in season 2 we have US who went to talk to the owner of the shop but the worker there said she can't attend as her marriage is getting fixed. This was the exact pt when US saw the lamp and left a note... So if in any case Bhabho is the owner of the shop the note should have reached her. Instead the note is given to Kanak. Age issues of Bhabho are understood but the note could have been given to anyone else than Kanak. So if in any case the shop is on Kanak's name the business is void. How come Bhabho signed those pprs and the deal is considered valid? It becomes null if Kanak is the owner of the shop.

Now cmn to numbers...

7: is a number of spirituality. So these 7 days will either bring enlightenment in Kanak or fix US's brain. 7 also stands for ultimate truth. Basically deals with seekers of truth. So either of them will find a truth about the other. Now who is a big question.

3: payal's gauna was scheduled after 3 months. 3 is a number of expression and creativity. It also stands for a third person. Assumptions can be these: payal expresses her displeasure about marriage, Ved enters the scenario of Payal and photograph husband.

6: Kanak's wedding scheduled after 6 months. 6 is a number that deals with family, domestic chores and happiness. So 6 is a family number. People with such numbers are good in balancing a family life. 6 months might witness US Kanak final wedding or Rathi family's issues getting resolved.

5: Some shuddikaran puja is being arranged and ppl have to go for 5 days. 5 is a mid number between 0-10. A no. of balance and a number of experiences, experiments and new ventures. And also 5 fingers one fist... it will be interesting where 5 will take the couple.

Hammie hammie hammie,
this is a really cute an interesting update.i m always amazed at the way u always see things. this time '' The rat''.brilliant hammie.indeed as a little rat carries the Lord of wisdom in its back, the little rat shiv too carries the bag of knowledge about everyone in the family, their whereabouts, and the useful details of the household in his little smart brain.''chota baccha samajhke na koi akh dikhana re, dibi dibi dab dab😆'' this is what came to my mind while reading this.and i never studied much about mooshoki, so thanks for letting me know.u r amazing.

Cz of u i see rats everywhere. B it the cute naughty rat who loves teasing his dadusa, the rat of theft in kanak's mind, the rat of suspicion in masisa's mind, the rat of prohibited love in palomi's mind, the rat of poisonous thoughts in suman's mind...these rats are always there.spoils the good things inside us, like it spoils our valuable belongings, brings ill health.

was in a hurry to see this episode, so watched from online despite slow internet. what shameful happened is my bro found me watching the last scene where uma undressed himself. Now he is pooling my legs saying i love checking...u know what I mean😳 waise it was a hot scene.raised the temperature.it is already 34 degree here.

keep writing hammie.u r cool.

Zakham dene wale, malam lagane lage...
Ishq se tauba krne wale...mohabbat ki kasam khane lage...

Wonderful writing hamie...
I enjoyed reading each and every word.

The hatred bite which kanak have given turned into love bite for uma bhai.

He said apse mila hua ye dusra taufa hai...
Dusra...actually teesra hai...which he have forgotten.

Sabse pehla taufa to uska khud unki life me hona hai.

Agar ye nahi hota to baki ke 2 kabhi nahi hote..

Uma bhai made one thing clear...

Wifey ka gussa bhi sir ankhon pe..
Or zakhm bhi...

Mohabat ki keel kanak ke dil diwar pe thukne lagi hai..
Manzar wo bhi haseen hoga ..jab chuur hoke bikhre ye farsh pe...

Shayarana andaaz me...exit leti hu...
Thankyou for this post

I love your analogy with Lord Ganesh. You're right, a very profound episode, few actions, slow moves, but full of symbolism. The hug was just another expression of the stage in which their relationship is right now: he has a subtle desire for her, but refrains himself not knowing what to do and also being aware that the time has not come yet, and Kanak, she is very much afraid of him, but she knows she has to accept his presence to certain level in order to get what she wants.

And you said it very well: the more she tries to distance herself from him, the more she comes closer to him. And this is the "magnetic aspect" of their relationship. She wants that documents so she can run away, but the only way to get them is trough him.

P.S. I like how your ideas flow from one another effortlessly, combining in the same post: actions, symbols, literary references and reflections upon real life. It is really a pleasant experience to read your posts and I find them very educative as well.

@Nimmi, why I am not surprised that two of the most brilliant writers I have come across on IF know each other? Please, give a try to this show, I would love to know your opinion about it! And yes, Dutta Bhau was absolutely magnificent and Mishal Raheja maintained the integrity of his character for the whole time that he played the role. The essence of the character was always there even when he fell in love and we surely know that this doesn't happen very often.
