TSMSPJep:18 :22.4.17:My Impression: hear through the great vine..
No one can deny they have not experienced some piece of news that has travelled from one end or side to the other side or end. Often one admits to coming across bits and pieces of information, which travels and snowballs into gossip, rumour or popular belief. Hearing things through the great vine, on the other hand, often implicates, news passed by word of mouth from one person to another, in a private manner as amongst friends. It also implies, trying to find a way through. The saying popped in my mind whilst watching the episode.Kanak goes out on a search mission to salvage her family business. How she goes about making use of the spreading branches of the vine, snippets of information out of mouths of people, shows, she makes good progress. Kanak travels from her end of Pushkar where she hears about her shop being sold, to the other end of Ladnun where the buyer is based. It is one move for Kanak too, to make a difference to her Bhabo's life.
University life, living away from home, certainly puts Kanak on a strong foothold. The girl has independence to widen her academic skills hence this course. More so she has the good sense to realize what she will or will not be allowed to do. She knows going to Uma's village Ladnun under handed, and on the sly is the only way to regain Bhabo's shop. Kanak is independent enough to buy her ticket, which is fine by her brothers. But somehow deep down the concern for letting their sister go alone.. gives in and both Ved and Vansh try to latch on to her in her journey ,but Kanak wants to do this task her way! It's her resilience and clarity of what she sets out for, that paves the way for her feet to begin from this point to that point.
Servants are notorious for keeping their ears and eyes open for all that goes around the community at large! No surprises, that our Rani get this juicy piece of gossip off the great vine! the high tech social networks! news of the day! Pushkar girl weds boy's photograph!! The boy's family hails from Ladnun!! and what's more thanks to the bush fire news! It comes complete with video on Rani's phone!! Thanks be to her friend and social network media.. Ved gets to see the ill -fated girl is Payal! the queen of his heart! Once again this Rani girl raises awareness of the Rathi family, about news of some mutual interest to them. Ved, is somewhat shocked, heartbroken. There are expectations from some people in his family, that as a policeman, he needs to take action at this outrageous practice of making a girl marry a photograph. Ved wonders ,sadly , he hasn't got a leg to stand on, since nothing has been formally reported! But the truth is the matter has been reported, brought to his knowledge ..it's more than duty.. it's worse. It's a matter of his heart! Ved will have to choose what course of action he has to take? Duty wise, the matter is grounded. Heart wise,is it pointless? after all the Payal is married, and that too publicly. So much so for hearing it from the great vine..
As soon as Kanak sets foot on the soil of Ladnun .. she feels her sense of purpose kicks in. Now that she is here, she will need to locate this man withthe pronounced bushy moustache. She looks around in disbelief! Every second male sported the local tradition of wearing a thick moustache. The journey makes her lose some of her alertness and as such, nothing like a splattering of cold water from her drinking bottle. Minding his own business Uma drives past the streets of Ladnun, just in time to catch his square distinct jaw with the droplets of cold water that shrug off her finger tips! Even the few droplets of water are enchanted by the sandal wood fragrance..a strange feeling runs through Uma's soul. Before he can catch his breath! a fabric invades his full face. Kanak runs to grab her honour, her chunni! Uma's , moment of bliss is pulled away! But he turns his head and catches sight of this fleeting figure, with the wayward chunni that rode on the breeze to brush his square clean shaven face with the hint of sandalwood. Uma's heart plays a tune..what charm is this? The air of Ladnun smells of sandalwood..thanks be to lord Shiva , Uma senses her presence in his village..
It's good to have old friends, they go back a long way back. Such a friend and neighbour is daisa .. she reminds Bhabo its Shivratri. Her family is not supportive like Bhabo's,as such she would like her to come to the temple with her. she reminds Bhabo of her son Suraj.. Bhabo ,of course believes none can replace Suraj, he was patent! One of a kind! He knew what Bhabo's needs were before she even voiced them out. Poor Vansh , tries to substitute his father, but Bhabo reminds him , he has to discern her first , like his father did, to become like her son Suraj!!
If only through the great vine, Bhabo can hear, what her Kanak is up too! Without Bhabo making it know to her, Kanak knows her Bhabo's heart's desire , her son Suraj's sweet shop! Kanak gets to fact finding about the man she seeks! Not an easy job ..it's like finding a needle in a hay stack! People aren't helpful, well problem is Kanak comes into the mission rather cold. His name and address would have helped. But what everyone does talk about some Uma Shankar's wedding!! Someone who is no one to her! anyway, the man she looks for has to be found.. so she chants her empowering mantra, no fears, no, tears, no reluctance! just remember Kanak whose daughter you are!
She makes her way to the perfumery stall.. already Palomi and Suman are by it. For some odd reason, Palomi is on the lookout for one particular sandalwood! Is she under the impression that Uma is drawn to this smell? Well it seems she was not having much luck . It takes the real woman whom Uma associates the fragrance with.. to seek and then bestow the sandalwood perfume to the searching Palomi! Brash Suman, teases Palomi see it was right under her nose yet she couldn't see it! Its because she needs to speak up!! Kanak joins in with a word of advise.. its best to take what one wants, before it's taken away by someone else.. the innuendo in Kanak's words perhaps give a broad hint towards some ensuing irony, or twist of fate for Palomi? Palomi is taken in by an amicable Kanak and she wants to know what is searching for? Kanak reveals it's a man , but she knows not his name or address .. she tried asking ..but all she heard from the great vine here in Ladnun is some Uma Shankar getting married! Kanak makes her way and what's more she finds it! Palomi is the way maker!! She informs Kanak ,she can help..meaning Uma can help.. as its Uma Shankar s wedding today! and she is most welcome to attend!
Kanak shows reluctance to attend but Palomi explains, Uma Shankars wedding symbolizes lord Shiva and Parvati's marriage. Kanak is taken aback ,lord Shiva's marriage. Palomi smiles, and reminds her its Shivratri ,here they celebrate wedding rituals, all Ladnun is part of the festivities.. Kanak finds a way.. as her eyes light up, who knows she just may find the man she is looking for over there? She seeks Palomi blessings, that her wish may come true. Kanak decides she has to meet this Uma Shankar if she wants to find the man who will return Bhabo's shop. Elsewhere Uma Shankar too prays .. to meet the sandalwood fragrance girl, his lips curl in a smile at the very request.. his lord knows best, when the time is right..
Lovely episode, with double meanings and hints of irony. suman's words to Palomi, she never speaks, hints to her silence in her love for uma. precap is very telling.. Uma in worship mode.. singing about his bride.. like the golden wheat.. beautiful ..Kanak is , Uma's bride! Kanak enters and collides with the man.. who holds her from falling.. hamlet53 23.4.17
