If stars smoking on screen can influence badly, then stars riding bike without wearing a helmet too can motivate the youngsters to do so.
But who cares! Filmmakers just don't like the idea of their heroes wearing helmets.
In 'Dhoom', Abhishek plays a cop but hardly rides a bike wearing a helmet.
'Dhoom' director Sanjay Gadvi says, "If I am to shoot a sudden chase sequence, I can't have my hero hunting for a helmet before going to nab the criminal."
In 'Pyaar Mein Twist' Dimple ad Rishi riding the bike down the highway but have not put on helmet.
On asked director Hriday Shetty why he didn't show Rishi wearing a helmet, the 'Pyaar Mein Twist' director chuckled, "There weren't any cops on the highway then
In movie'Dosti – The Friends Forever' Akshay Kumar and Bobby Deol seen riding bike without helmet. The Central Board of Film Certification doesn't have any reservations for clearing those scenes simply because there are no specific guidelines making it mandatory for heroes to wear helmets. Projecting heroes without helmet involves glamorization.
In 'D' Randeep Hooda also seen riding bike without helmet.
"If Randeep Hooda wore the helmet in 'D', it could have been anybody shooting that scene," Chunkey Pandey said.
"Randeep played a dare devil underworld don and the plot demands that he moves around with out a helmet," he added.
I can't imagine John doing this scene wearing the helmet in 'Dhoom'," said Riya Sen.
"He would not look the same and I'm sure his fans will agree with me. If his face gets covered because he is wearing a helmet, I can't relate to him as an actor. That's a huge dampner for any viewer," opined sex doll Riya.
In 'Bobby', I only saw Dimple in the bike scene. Now don't tell me that you want her to wear a helmet," said Jackie Shroff.
"Her eyes and her face is so expressive that it's unfair to hide them behind a helmet," opined Jackie.
Like Jackie most filmmakers think that wearing helmet shouldn't be mandatory, because it will infringe on their creative expressions.
I can't even imagine Amitabh and Dharmendra do this scene wearing helmets in 'Sholay'," says director Ramesh Sippy.
"I don't believe that making my heroes wear half-helmets would make the scenes more convincing."
"Though helmet less heroes give a wrong message to the audience, I can't think of other ways of showing two-wheeler riders," said Sippy.
