Is Soni really the epitome of Indianness?

Cherry has told Soni so many times not to touch Jeet's things....when she invited Jeet's friends she specifically told Soni not to prepare the food . I will give him the shawl ....we dont need u ....etc etc. THen why does Soni agree to pick up Jeet's suit when Cherry asks her to ? Can't she simply say ' No' ....I am following ur instructions....u do it urself ?

When Soni is simply not learning by trying to put in efforts and change herself by learning to be smarter , putting her foot down occasionally [ even her own husband told her dont sit when I tell u to and dont stand when I tell u to...think for urself] ....and is stubbornly not loving her own self and not even understanding what the value of self respect means......she is bound to learn the lesson the hard way isnt it ? Is anybody else to blame for it ? Dumb people who stubbornly go on behaving good with evil people are bound to get hurt ....is it the evil person's fault in this or the dumb one's who didnt care to utilise the brains that god put in his or her head ?

Why are Indian values distorted in these serials by showing characters like Soni ? Cherry , Durga and Jyoti twist her around their finger bcoz she doesn't mind being insulted at all and lets them do it . In the effort to be ' good ' ....be totally dumb .....is the projection of a supposedly Indian value in this serial. ! And what has happened to the real Indian value ....the value of self respect in this serial .....why is it not being shown in this serial ? Anyone can even come and throw a cake of mud on Soni's face ....all she will do is smile brightly with tears brimming in her eyes , wipe it quietly and the next moment give the one throwing the mud { Durga for instance] a cup of tea ! And these r Indian values....and the ones who r making this serial r the so called experts on it it seems !

I suggest to all those working on the script of Maayka to take a crash course on Indian values by studying all the famous books and scriptures of India ....like the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, The Geeta, The Devi Kathas [ since this serial is on Punjabi family and punjabis worship Mata ]....and understand thoroughly the basic concept that throbs thru each of these books.....never compromise with ur self respect and fight for it , whichever sex ur , man or woman , whatever age ur , small against big, whatever size ur , tiny against giant , whatever caste ur....low against high ! They clearly outline that one who accepts the suffering is a greater sinner than the one who gives you the suffering.

Soni , with her beautiful face and tear filled helpless eyes insults Indian values .....give us a character who upholds them or resurrect her please !

very polite words coming from you. it's really wonderful to add in the sentence in the end that you don't hate the person who plays soni but just her character but in your 2nd paragraph you say she's the ugliest serial character ever & you've started to hate her face too. do soni & shilpa shinde have 2 different faces that we are unaware of? i'm sure you're really overbrimming with love for shilpa shinde judging from your words of praises for her looks in the serial.

let's just face it. you hate soni. period. we get it. there is no need for your to insult her with such harsh words. how would you feel if i called abused your cherry dearest with the same words you used for soni? please be polite, especially in a forum with such vast different views.

the topic starter is right. the creatives are insulting women by giving such degrading characters to female actors. not only to soni but also to cherry & durga.

soni is a woman who takes even the most serious verbal abuses without feeling even a slight indigance. cherry is a woman who is so blinded by revenge that she can't even feel pity for a child she was about to hurt. durga is a woman & a mother who willingly lets her beloved sons suffer so much of pain just because of her uncalled for disdain for soni.

women are not that weak, twisted or cruel. by creating characters like these the makers are just insulting womanhood as a whole.

A lot has been said in another post about how ' poor Soni' became so submissive bcoz her whole Maayka vanished and she was on the charity of the Khuranas .{ This was the central idea of that discussion.]
I beg to differ here please with all Soni lovers . She has a husband like Veer who is totally ready to support her .....Veer is a character upto this point who is an intensely fair character with a sense of right and wrong that he has inherited from his decent dad . When he found out his mother's true colurs in Raji's case when she asked Jyoti to hide baby Simran ....he was ready to live seperately with his wife and refused to speak to his horrid mother . When Soni has such a supportive , strong husband , what is the need to take so much domination from such evil doers like Durga and Jyoti who are quite frankly no gooders . Who has told her to keep her mouth shut and hide so many things from her police inspector husband ? If such a case comes to him in the police station he will give the girl's sasural a strong official warning as because of dowry burning laws are on woman;s side today . But that very same Veer has no idea of what nonsense is going on bcoz his wife , with a misplaced sense of ' goodness' and ' values' is constantly keeping quiet , misleading him with false smiles, and encouraging evil behaviour of Durga , Cherry etc becoz they go unchecked ! See how quickly Durga became straight when her son refused to live in the same house and threatened to walk out . The evil behaviour subsided. Keeping quiet to this extent is making evil behaviour grow like a flourishing tree and which Indian value tells us increase evil ? And even when she was on charity of Khuranas she had Jeet who was crazy for her and wud have married her in an instant if she had only uttered the word ! Two sons of the house are supporting her ....her sasur supports her ...and what nonsense is this gal doing with tear brimmed eyes ? So much power she holds in her hand but she doesnt care to use it for good ....she has beauty that enthralls men , brains that god has given but she never uses them....if god wanted human beings to act like dumb animals wouldnt he have given them a lower birth ?Like an insect or a cow ? Why did he make them human and gift them brains....to be purposefully so stupid by choice ? My words may souund strong....but since these serials purport to show Indian values to a large women audience ....isnt the biggest sin not to use ur human birth properly ? Which Indian value propogates that be weak not strong , be stupid , not intelligent , lie still and let others trample over u ? The Punjabis worship Mata Di who sits on a tiger and kills evil ....and they show us this rubbish under the name of ' good bahu ' ? And I say ...forget even Veer and Jeet's support ....look how when it got too much Mahi just walked off to the Gurudwara ? Where did she have a Maayka to go to ? But see the strenght she showed ....she didnt care when she thought Shabd was wrong and made Shabd entreat her to come back ! It is only when she respected herself that Shabd started respecting her too...till that point Shabd too had taken her for granted and treated her like dirt ! Which Indian value tells u allow urself to be taken for granted ? Only these super intelligent script writers of Maayka are telling us.....and the height is that when these things are pointed to them they dismiss it by saying Trps are high , and the very fact that these complaining audiences are watching this serial shows their emotional attachment [ it seems ] to our show ! And they continue thick skinnedly showing Soni in same way ! Some of them continue watching it as options are less ....some watch critically ....some watch off and on....they switch to other shows and come back ....what nonsensical reasons they give for their derogatory portrayal of women in this serial ! Look at Durga.....is she fit to be called a mother ? Arre , even Kaikeyi was better ....she was bad to others but she loved Bharat and had his interests at heart ! But this woman spoils her sons life by marrying him off to a gal he doesnt love, and pitts the wives against each other , and plays such dirt poilitics that puts step moms to shame ! Simple logic....her sons r not happy....doesnt affect her in the least ! Wherever she goes , she spreads ugly quarrels , hatred , meanness and teaches her daughter to be mean , mean and meaner , and wrecks her son's lives ....and this , my friends , is woman for you ! Emotional attachment indeed !

but ne honest ...yes for me 1 person can have 2 faces....when he/she is nice,polite,respectfull,fights for her right in a correct and peacful way then he/she is however he /she looks out (small,big,thin,faaaat etc...) good even very good !

but if he/she is bad,mean,unrespectful,has no courage,cant speak up an cant fight for her rights in a good an peaceful way or just the other rude things.......then again however the person looks out(( faaaat,thin,small,big or even beautiful,elegant...etc)) he/she is for me ugly!!!!...

thats why i told that i started to hate soni's( my god dont get me wrong again,i mean her character) face....but i never said that i hate shilpa an her face or looks or wateva...shes ofcourse in her real life better an how say not so dumb like soni...

thats why i dont hate shilpa's face......i hate soni's face...lol..not really but sometimes shes really annoying an for me as a bubbly girl i could never live the way she does...

I just wrote something kind of like this in the GKLB forum. I'm sooo tired of these kinds of characters dominating! I loved Soni before the bombing scene. She was the most outspoken sister. What happened to her?? I'm hoping this whole Cherry-Jyoti-Durga thing is just setting her up to grow a spine, but I honestly cant even believe it's taking this long.
