Sunaina Roshan.. |
Sunaina Roshan..
Sunny, vivacious and oh so not propah.. Sunaina Roshan.. eldest daughter of Rakesh Roshan and elder sibling of Hrithik Roshan. And she has her own identity, co-producer of Filmkraft's Krazzy 4.
Now that is important in a family of super achievers, to have your own identity. Sunaina became actively involved with the production of this comic caper from day one. So pleased was papa Roshan that he called her to his office one day. Seated behind her grandfather's desk, Rakesh Roshan gave her an envelope.
Sunaina recalls, "I have always been close to my dad. But ever since I started working on the film, we began to connect professionally. He would call me at the end of the day's shoot and ask for a progress report. We began to connect on a different level". Taking a sip of water, Sunaina continues, "He called me to his office and gave me an envelope. It contained a cheque. Dad said, this is your salary and I am giving it to you because you deserve it."
The look of pleasure on her face as she moves into memory lane is intense. There is a sense of pride in her achievement. And you have to give it to her.
In the midst of shooting for the film, Sunaina was diagnosed with cervical cancer. A chirpy Sunaina decided to take on the battle with the disease which required chemotherapy, head on. Three months of treatment saw her lose her hair and put on 15 kgs.
Trying to understand her trauma, I leaned further towards her. With a smile on her face, Sunaina reveals, "I had beautiful hair, thick and long. I was heartbroken when I had to cut it." But in the next instant, Sunaina bounces back with, "Just give me a year and my hair will be as long as yours. And did you know that within a week of my last chemotherapy treatment, I was back on the set. I am hooked on to this filmmaking thing badly."
As she goes into details of pre mixing and DI, I gaze at her animated face.. Here's a woman who has fought a hard battle and come up tops. The burgeoning of a successful person is always a sight for sore eyes. And for Sunaina Roshan, the roshni has just arisen across the horizon.
