HYDERABAD: The police have found 19 😲unexploded bombs in Hyderabad a day after at least 40 people were killed in blasts Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy blamed on terrorists based in Bangladesh or Pakistan.

New Delhi has sent extra police and special bomb detection equipment to Hyderabad, an IT hub, after bombs packed with metal pellets exploded at a food centre and an amusement park on Saturday night.

About 80 people were wounded by the three blasts that went off within minutes of each other.

Police discovered the unexploded bombs -- most fitted with timers and placed in plastic bags -- at bus stops, by cinema halls, road junctions and pedestrian bridges and near a public water tap across the capital of Andhra Pradesh state.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/The_Govt_wont_be_cowed_do wn_by_terror_strikes_Patil/articleshow/2312272.cms

HYDERABAD: The government on Sunday said it would not be cowed down by terrorist strikes like the twin blasts that killed 42 people here but refused to specify whether terror groups based in Pakistan and Bangladesh were behind the attacks.

"We are sorry (iss attitude se terrorism solve karoge Mr.Patil?) but we are not cowed down. (same repeated dialogue) We will definitely see to it that it is reduced and eliminated ultimately," said Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil.

Patil, was here to take stock of the security situation in the aftermath of the two blasts last night and refused to comment on whether groups based in Pakistan and Bangladesh could have been responsible for the attacks.

He told reporters "these things cannot be openly discussed" and it was for investigating agencies to ascertain all facts about the explosions.

Earlier in the day, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had blamed "international terrorist organisations" based in Pakistan and Bangladesh for the blasts.

Patil also spoke of the need for timely action on intelligence inputs to avert such attacks.

"We had bits of information, but we didn't know when and where it would happen," he said, replying to questions on whether some intelligence inputs had been received about the blasts.

Pointing out that it was "not an easy job" to prevent terrorist attacks, Patil said, "The country is very big and even if we have the information that something is likely to happen, sometimes we don't know when and where this is likely to happen."

Asked to comment on statements made by BJP leader L K Advani that terrorist attacks could have been prevented if anti-terror laws like POTA were in force, he said he would not like to enter into a discussion on this issue.

"We did what we felt was right," he said, adding that there was no guarantee that such incidents would not have occurred if POTA had been in force.

Such incidents, in fact, took place even after POTA was brought in, he pointed out. (Crimes get committed despite having police forces so we should not have police forces)

As part of measures to prevent such incidents, the strength of police forces is being enhanced and their arms and equipment are being modernised, Patil said. There was also a need for better coordination between states and Central security agencies.

Patil said "when floods and incidents like this happen, people try to help each other" to mitigate suffering. (this was not a flood you idiot)

Patil said the investigations into the blasts would establish whether there was a failure on the part of intelligence agencies and necessary corrective measures would be taken thereafter.

Hey Deepak, I will tell you what the talk is in Hyd abt these bomb excavations...

I believe this was a major failure of the Police forces because the Information Bureau has already warned them of some possible 'bomb blasts', a week ago...But that was there 40th warning this year and since the previous 39 turned out to be nothing, this time the police took it as a nice joke and so happily watching the Cricket match(or whatever)...😡🤬

So now, just to redeem themselves, they were talking about all these 19 bombs, 20 bombs- but the public knows that it was all fake news that they were trying to give so that they will have something to talk about...Now the Police are talking more about how they unearthed these 19 bombs and saved several 100 people...

BTW, that day when this happened, it was raining heavily just 1 hr before also and hence the poeple were pretty much resigned to their homes.....My sister and her friends were planning to go there(to that Gokul), but decided against it because of this reason only...Where the deaths could have been in 100s, if not 1000s,thanks to the rain Gods, its now not that...But God help those perpetrators now...If not our Nincompoops, someone will take care of them..But their end is going to be pathetic...

One sad news,I said everybody I knew were fine, but one of the Doctors that we know, who works in Nizam Hospital, died...He is survived by his wife,11 months old daughter and Parents...

Did you hear Mr.Rajshekhar reddy's condolences:

"He said' the perpetrators have no religion in fact they don't belong to the race of humanity only...."

Elections are just around the corner and you know he is making sure that his Vote Bank doesn't leak, by the above statement🤢...Such is our politicians' focus...

Raksha

it is sad that Hyderabad has been targetted second time in 3 months.... shockingly there is no clue found as to who attacked Makkah Masjid in the month of May... and see another case is ready to be investigated....

I as a citizen strongly feel that dr. Y.A.S. Raj Shekhar Reddy is good for nothing.... in most of the cases he knew that the attack was going to happen but he is just least bothered about it... even in case of Mekkah Masjid blasts, they knew that some attack was going to be taken place BUT due to the pathtic service and pooor security our government failed... not only that but killed dozens of innocent citizens in the form of FIRING 🤢 🤢

Karim Nagar incidents, Hyderabad blasts twice in 2007 wherein not only victims were targetted by blasts or disasters but Govt has killed many in their own so called way of FIRING 😡 😡

Twin blasts and the unfinished business of life
Sunday, 26 August , 2007, 20:30

Hyderabad: K Krishna Chand was to celebrate his 27th birthday on Sunday and his first marriage anniversary Monday. But now the two days will be preceded by his death anniversary.

Chand was having delicious chat at Gokul Chat, a much-frequented food joint, on Saturday when a terror blast snuffed out his life. Officials said at least 32 people were killed at the eatery

"What should I tell my daughter?" Krishna's father-in-law asked, crying inconsolably.

Ten others died in another blast around 30 minutes earlier at a laser show in Lumbini Park near the Hussain Sagar Lake.

Couples having a special meal together, students scouting for books, families out to enjoy a laser show... they were simple people out for simple pleasures on a weekend. Here one moment, and gone the next.

The 42 dead included three children. What did they do to deserve this?

Many victims were not even Hyderabad residents. Vigna, 18, had come all the way from Prakasam district to attend counselling for admission into an engineering college, but was killed at the bombing in Gokul Chat.

"We should not have come here," wailed a father at the Osmania General Hospital mortuary.

It's a vacuum in his life that will never be filled.

E Shyam Rao, an employee with a financial company, had gone to the eatery with his fiance. Since the joint was crowded, Rao went inside to fetch some food, but never returned. His fiance, however, survived.

Ikramullah Khan, 17, too was buying some eatables while his two sisters were waiting outside the eatery in an auto rickshaw. The three had gone to buy books at Koti near Gokul Chat, which has several well-known bookstores. Khan did not return.

Some tourists, some visiting for official purposes... they are all gone.

As many as seven engineering students from Maharashtra were killed in the blast at Lumbini Park as were two railway employees from Madhya Pradesh.

K V Anand, an oncologist at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), and his friend Chaitanya Prasad, a surgeon at the Osmania Hospital, were enjoying some dishes at Gokul Chat. It turned out to be their last meal.Edited by raksha.l - 16 years ago

We all wanna know, am sure she is doing ok...but would be great to hear back from her.

Raksha hope your family is doing okay. I read they are but making sure.

Well, on this particular incident and many more that we have discussing quiet frequently, I mean hasn't it become part of life. Basically unreliable life, ok you will say I would have different view if immediate family was involved... have gone through it during Bombay blast but finally what can be done.

NO ONE can ensure with whatever proactive or corrective actions to curb terrorism, can be minimized but not eliminated, what else can be said. Try one's best to discourage such activities, support whoever is fighting against it or fight yourself nothing beyond that.

Life's truth nothing much can be done. All my condolenses / prayers to mourning families.

This is really scary...situation is worse than anyone would have thought...

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Indias_terror_death_toll_ second_only_to_Iraq/articleshow/2312796.cms

The US and UK may like to believe that they are leading the war on terror globally, but the country that has had to face the worst of terrorist attacks on its own soil, barring war-torn Iraq, is India.

In fact, India has since 2004 lost more lives to terrorist incidents than all of North America, South America, Central America, Europe and Eurasia put together. All of these vast swathes of the globe lost a total of 3,280 lives in terrorist incidents between January 2004 and March this year. India alone lost 3,674 lives over the same period of three years and three months.

In yesterday's edition of TOI, in our front page lead report on the Hyderabad blasts, we had said that terror groups have left India with perhaps the highest number of civilian victims of terror (apart from war-torn countries like Iraq).

Later, on Sunday, when we looked in detail at the worldwide numbers, we found India not only had the highest number of deaths after Iraq, but also the highest number of terror-related incidents and injured among all countries (again, barring Iraq) — more than all the war zones around the globe. India has been hit by terrorists at will and with chilling regularity — Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Malegaon, Varanasi, J&K — the list is endless.
It's only on one count — hostages taken by terror groups — that India's at No 3, to Iraq's No 2. Guess which country was No 1? Nepal, that too by a huge margin, thanks to large-scale kidnappings by Maoists.

Indeed, if one had to pick a terrorist hotspot on the globe it would have to be South Asia. Outside of Iraq, 20,781 people were killed in terrorist violence between January 2004 and March 2007, according to data available from the Worldwide Incidents Tracking System (WITS) of the US National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC). Almost half of them, 9,283 to be precise, were killed in South Asia.

Besides India, Afghanistan has seen 2,405 lives being lost while more than 1,000 each have been killed in Pakistan and Nepal. Sri Lanka has had 866 terrorism-related deaths and Bangladesh 158. Bhutan and the Maldives are the only South Asian nations not to have lost lives to terror in this period.
