I have only heard to her songs, but never watched any movies.. Actually i have never been a movie freak BTW - i just now read about Mr. India where Geeta Bali and IS Johar were actors.. Can anyone tell me what similarity does this and the new generation Mr. India have 😊
I hope its not posted..the points i find intersting are...i was thinking she resembles some other actress and i just saw in this yes..she resembles Urmila Matondkar..or urmila resembles her !!

Geeta Bali (1930 - January 21, 1965) was born in pre-partition Punjab as Harkirtan Kaur, she was a Sikh, her family moved to Bombay and were living in near poverty when she started to get breaks in films. She became a star in the 1950s. In 1955 she married Shammi Kapoor who was 2 years younger than her but not yet a star. She had also worked earlier with her future brother-in-law Raj Kapoor in Bavre Nain and with her future father-in-law Prithviraj Kapoor in Anand Math. Her secretary was Surinder Kapoor, father of producer Boney Kapoor and actor Anil Kapoor. She had two children with Shammi, before she died on January 21, 1965 of small pox. She left behind a son Aditya aged 8 and a daughter Kanchan aged 3.
Later her niece Yogeeta Bali also made it into films before marrying Kishore Kumar, and then after a divorce with Kishore Kumar she married actor Mithun Chakravorty
Some of her hit films are Bawre Nain with future brother-in-law Raj Kapoor, Baazi with Dev Anand, Baazi with Guru Dutt, and Albela with Bhagwan Dada.
She bears a facial resemblence to actress Urmila Matondkar, but they are not related.
Shammi Kapoor on geeta bali...
She was 24. I was 23. We were working together in a couple of movies at that time. She was past her prime, career wise. I was nowhere near it, likewise career wise. I was doing a film called "Rangeen Raaten" for Kedar Sharmaji. She was his protege. As we were going to be doing the outdoor stints of the movie at Ranikhet, an ancient Army based hill-station in the Kumaon region, she asked to be included in the Unit and hence got to do a cameo role in the film. We left on the 2nd April, 1955 for the location. It was destined.
On 9 January, 1965 she took ill. She died on 21 January, 1965.
some of her pictures...
