Perfect 'Host-n-Dost' SRK
Shahrukh Khan hosted the Filmfare Awards last Saturday evening at the Yash Raj Studios in Andheri, Mumbai. The actor was at his best as he cracked everyone with his mind-blowing sense of humor.
It started with SRK declaring that he has made a resolution that he would never do a Big B movie remake again as 'The Original is Original'. SRK then, surprised everyone as he addressed Aby's baby as 'AbhiDhoom Bachchan' as he invited the actor on the stage to receive his Best Supporting Actor award for KANK. SRK sure made it more interesting for the curious viewers, as he questioned Abhishek on how did he do this role and how did he prepare for 'Dhoom:2', the question came with a dash of sarcasm as Abhishek has already been criticized for his performance in the movie. Aby's baby replied, "I was not in the film," as papa Big B sat on the edge of the seat and gave his usual stern look. SRK didn't stop there as he asked, "You do a film like 'Dhoom:2' and then, you turn around and this very intense and very amazing film called 'Guru', so how do you do this?" to which our 'quite-defensive-n-little-witty' Abhishek replied, "It's very simple, for one film you eat and for the other you don't let your fianc eat."
Jaya Bachchan, who received the Lifetime achievement awards, literally had Ash in tears, well, we meant emotionally as she was all praises for her to be daughter-in-law; "Ash has the right values and I welcome her to our family," expressed Jaya.
Hrithik and Shahrukh put up a funny act which had SRK dressed as 'Krrish' hanging from a rope. King Khan mocked Hrithik with "I should have told Hrithik to bring me down, when his first movie 'Kaho Na Pyaar Hai' released, he very nearly got my career down". SRK further added, "I am a very desperate guy and this is one way of being on the top."
Shahrukh's gags had the entire Bollywood laugh out loud, so while the Oscars had Ellen de Genres, we had our King Khan but, it's still a 'Question of a Question', did the Filmfare awards match up to the Oscars?

Fair One Filmfare 2006

By Kkomal Seth & Gautam Seth

Fair one Filmfare 2006 was a rocking affair. Bollywood's most sought-after film awards sponsored by Elder Pharmaceuticals leading brand fair one Fairness cream was held on Saturday at Mumbai's plush Yashraj Studio. The fun and excitement quotient, of course, remained the same. The evening belonged indisputably to three films, which divided the honours between them: Rang De Basanti, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's postmodern take on pre-independence revolutionaries, Omkara, Vishal Bhardwaj's dark and hard-hitting adaptation of Othello and Lage Raho Munnabhai, Raj Kumar Hirani's endearing look at Mahatma Gandhi through a gangster's eyes. Anuj Saxena, Director-Marketing Elder Pharma says, "I think awards this time were truly different and magnificent. In my opinion this is the way awards should be held with style and panache. I am quite sure that the super success of this event will pull more people towards it next year". Anuj Saxena presented the award to Kangana Ranaut along with Sony's Kunal Das Gupta for Sony Fair One Face of the year award. Mr. Jagdish Saxena and Sneh Saxena presented the award to Kangana Ranaut for the best debut. Coincidently they presented both these awards to Vidya Balan Last year. While RDB swept up five of the main awards (Best Film, Best Director, Best Music, Best Cinematography and Best Editing) as well as Best Actor (Critics) for Aamir Khan and the R D Burman award, Omkara's tally was a eight and Lage Raho Munnabhai's five. The Best Actor and Best Actress awards went to Hrithik Roshan for Dhoom 2 and Kajol for Fanaa. Through the evening MC Shah Rukh Khan kept the audience in splits with his one-liners and deadpan asides. Samples: "My resolution this year: Main Bachchan saab ki koi bhi film nahin karoonga.'
