What kind of a fan are you?

IF is a family. And, no where in the IF rulebook does it state that we are not allowed to voice our opinion, yet some of us are compelled to hold back our opinions. The reason being that we get targeted really badly, we receive angry PM's and what not.

We all are fans of someone. I am a fan of Apoorva Agnihotri, and I also do not quite tolerate anything that is said against him. Similarly, you may be a fan of Rajeev Khandelwal, who I must admit looked very cute in the pictures of the party for Jeete Hain Jiske Liye along with Mona Singh.

I am talking about fans today. The extent fans can go to support their favourite actor/actress.

Almost, everyone on IF has had the unpleasant experience of receiving an angry PM. I experienced it two years back when I was relatively new, and unknowingly I had voiced out my opinion against one of the contestants of Fame Gurukul, it was a message saying, 'Mr. X did not deserve to stay in the show'. My words cost me a very angry PM, in which the person used foul language & said some really unkind things to me. I was hurt. Really hurt.

Even, though I sent a PM to the moderators, and complained about the person, yet to this date I could not forget that person. The damage was done. No one had ever said anything unkind to me ever, but I experienced it first hand that day.

My experience was nothing compared to a friend of mine. Some people said some very horrible things to her, and even went on her looks. While, I had only one person, her scenario was worst she had to deal with a bunch of people. To this date I feel all the people, who said those things to her owe her a huge apology.

Moving on from Fame Gurukul, lets move on to the Nach Baliye 2 section, on which Hiten Gauri fans were constantly targeted, and later harsh things were said to Hussain Tina fans as well. Even, I was somewhat involved in saying that 'Hiten Gauri did not deserve to stay in the beginning', but later I truly regretted my words, as I realized so many people were using cruel words not only to the couple, but also their fans.

Similar to reality shows, even in Kaise Ye Pyar Hain, one of the members had the unpleasant experience of dealing with brutal things. Some people went to the extent of sending angry messages to her fiance asking him to reconsider his decision of marrying her.

In Kasauti Zindagi Kay, Anurag and Bajaj fans do not get along. And, of course who can forget the rivalry between Armaan and Purab fans.

If you are one of those people, who have contributed to unpleasant things, by sending angry PM's, attacking the person directly & even gone to the extent of using harsh language, then here is your chance of rectifying your mistake. Follow these steps.

Step 1 - Apologize to the person, who you have done this to (if you remember the person, and you should remember them, considering you could send them some very bad words. If you can't, then check your Inbox, where there are a list of messages you have sent. Please remember the greatness is in understanding your mistake. Apologizing never hurts, but it shows your greatness.)

The steps below are strictly to prevent your self from sending harsh PM's out.

Step 2 – Pressurize yourself to remain silent and make an effort to understand the person, lets name the person Mr. A. Make an effort to understand why they said that.

Step 3 - Assume the words Mr. A said were for your least favourite actor. How do you feel now? See if that can prevent you from sending a bad PM out.

Step 4 – Say to yourself using foul language is indicative that you are immature. Since, surely mature people do not resort to foul language. And, you want to be mature right?

Step 5 - If you can't follow Step 4, then place yourself in the person's shoes, and assume a bad PM was sent to you. How would you feel?

Step 6 – Say to yourself just because the person said something against your favourite actor does not mean its true, then why give importance to their words?

Step 7 – Ask yourself, the person, who you are defending say "Mr. X" is he willing to do that to you? Is he your friend or your relative that you feel you have every right to defend him?

Step 8 - Are you willing to hurt someone just because they stated something that does not match your opinion?

Step 9 - Say to yourself, "I cannot change anyone's opinion. We all have different opinions, so I am not going to bother trying to argue to change the front person's opinion or even use foul language because that is going to lead me no where. Taking out my frustration and anger will not help me"

Step 10 – Never take things personally! People are not discussing you on the net, so you do not need to argue or say anything to them.

I surely do hope these steps work you. Remember its never too late to stop yourself from doing this you want to be known as a nice individual, not as a angry person. Right?
