Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis has played extraordinary cricket:

Royal Challengers Bengaluru after winning just one game from the first eight and looking like were done and dusted in the IPL 2024 made a resounding comeback by winning the next six games in a row and qualifying for the playoffs. Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar would laud team-experienced campaigners Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis for the team’s remarkable second-half resurgence.

The leading players there, Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, and other senior players, must be the ones most encouraging to the other team members. Other team members can quickly get into a situation where they might feel we’ve lost everything. It’s up to the seniors, and I think they have done their job. They have done it by showing them how. Faf and Virat have played extraordinary cricket,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

Security scare for Virat Kohli

IPL 2024, RR vs RCB Live Score, Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru: The Royal Challengers Bengaluru had to cancel their only practice session before the IPL 2024 Eliminator against the Rajasthan Royals due to security concerns. RCB was slated to practice at the Gujarat College ground in Ahmedabad on Tuesday to prepare for the knockout match, but the team decided to cancel it without any official reason. The Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, went ahead with their regular nets session at the same venue. However, there was no press conference, which is unusual on the eve of a critical IPL knockout match.

RCB find perfection

RCB were dead and burried after the first eight seven games of the season. They had won just one of those and had a combination of extremely unlucky defeats and tragicomic collapses in the rest of the games and this led to their path to qualification becoming improbable. And yet, they did the improbable, they stacked up six wins in a row and in the last of those against CSK, they seemed to play almost the perfect T20 game. Everyone who batted fired at a high strike rate and then their fielders hardly let anything go throughout the CSK chase. In case you missed that match, you have to see the highlights, that was a T20 match for the ages.

One question -

When did RR and RCB played at Ahmedabad in the past? smiley24 as mentioned in the previous page head to head post

During COVID in one IPL, to avoid too much travel they played all beginning matches in South Indian stadiums and later matches in North Indian stadiums.  To avoid hometown advantage, all teams played in someone else's back yard.  May be that is what they were referring to.

Cheers..

Riyan Parag in an exclusive club

This season will be remembered as the one where Riyan Parag finally came of age. He has scored 531 runs this season. There have been only two instances of a batter scoring more runs batting #4 or below in an IPL season - Rishabh Pant (579 in 2018) and Rohit Sharma (538 in 2013).

Questions hanging over Shimron Hetmyer

IPL 2024, RR vs RCB Live Score, Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Shimron Hetmyer has not played since May 2 because of injury. While he was reported to be fit for RR's last league game, he was not included in the playing XI. He is expected to be fit today and should slot in for Rovman Powell or Donovan Ferreira.

RR have scored at a run rate of 9.07 in the second half of the league stage, the lowest among the ten teams. Their top four batters had a collective average of 50 and a strike rate of 153 in the first nine games. After that though, they have averaged 31.66 and the strike rate is down to 133.42. Yashasvi Jaiswal has 32 runs in his last three innings, Samson 33 off 34 balls in his last two, and Jos Buttler's replacement opener Tom Kohler-Cadmore made 18 off 23 in his only match ahead of the Eliminator. Only Riyan Parag has remained in form, and RR will hope he gets support above and below him in the batting order.
