In the name of shame, women are restricted and oppressed in India. Brazilian influencer in India got brutally raped by 7 men in Jharkhand. It's a sad state of our country, the influencer was safe even in the countries like Iran and Afghanistan. I am just ashamed to be an Indian . We are not even trying to change the sorry state of our movies and we keep encouraging crap like Kabirsingh, Animal and Pushpa.

Women in India have so much potential yet we steal away the chance from them to shine because of our patriarchal society .

This video below, points out about the rapists mindset and it's so disgusting how our society has a view of woman to be pure and poise . Is virginity that important? What crap are we spreading in our society?

Here is the opinion of a responsible citizen of India on this subject.

I couldn’t find the video anywhere else, hence posting the direct Reddit link. Please don’t delete it unless anyone can find this video anywhere else.

Are only movies the problem? Or are they a reflection of this society and its mindset? Sexual assault and violence against women has been taking place since time known to mankind, what is the solution to this? GOT, which is such a popular show worldwide, explicitly showed the brutal torture against women and how they have always been treated as second class citizens, how their consent never matter and how they are mostly only viewed as an object of desire and lust, with no feelings of their own, and it’s set in the Middle Ages, when there were no films to show to the public. I know movies can influence impressionable minds and send wrong messages too, but what about the areas where people don’t watch them and still have this criminal mindset? Sexual assault is a problem which happens everywhere in this world, because it’s a sick world we live in, and not just in India. Unless young boys are taught basic things about consent, how a woman shouldn’t be viewed as a body for objectification, how to respect each other on a basic level, nothing is gonna change much, and in India, it’s a far fetched thing since like you pointed out, we already live in a patriarchal society, but the change begins from within.

10% of our population is approximately 14cr and I don't think Bollywood has a single movie with 14cr footfalls, point being blaming it on movies is a way to hide shortcomings of the society

Like parents blaming everything on phone and not understanding that the problem might be in their child's environment

A good example of Bollywood people's lack of spine is Karan Johar making a movie RARKPK where he deliberately put all handpicked traits of a green flag in Rocky and the same guy says that Animal is a brave attempt or best movie

Bollywood like any other business is trying to follow "Demand and Supply"

The massive disparity in reported rates of sexual assault across different states should tell you that entertainment products are more of a symptom than a cause.

Definitely a reflection of society and a movie like Animal making huge collections shows what audience want and isn't it censor board's responsibility to remove such toxic content, which may have harmful affect on our society? Even if 1 life is saved by removing problematic content from these movies , which might poison our society , it's a relief .

GOT is one problematic show and western countries with all the moments of female empowerment  has produced something so degrading towards women.

I sometimes wonder what's with the gender inequality in nature in general. All female species experience it. Atleast in humans men take care of their children, animals don't even have that privilege.

I used to watch it religiously many years ago, and such shows gave me so much of anxiety all the time back then .

It is not specific to India but is is amusing to see it is always India and Indians who are targeted.

About trivializing attacks on women which are despicable, maybe people should read Shakespeare. a few months back one of the members had pointed it out in Marathi forum.

Also maybe people should read the much celebrated Fountainhead.

Obviously not. Dhruv Rathee’s take on Animal movie is a great video to understand how misogyny leads to rape and how movies and all other factors leads to misogyny.
