UP Warriorz (UPW) will look to do the double when they face Mumbai Indians (MI) in the fourteenth match of Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 on Thursday (March 7) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Both UPW led by Alyssa Healy and MI led by Harmanpreet Kaur head into the clash on the back of defeats. Warriorz, however, will take confidence from their reverse fixture victory over the Mumbai Indians.

UP-W vs MUM-W: Pitch Report

Arun Jaitley Stadium is a flat deck that doesn’t have much in it for the bowlers. The faster you bowl, the faster you travel. The shorter boundaries will make it more difficult for the bowling side.

UP Warriorz have successfully picked up their game in WPL 2024 after losing their opening two games and will look to add to it by pulling a second win over the Mumbai Indians in this year's edition of the tournament.

The defending champions, on the other hand, have not had the best of WPL 2024 so far. Harmanpreet Kaur will be looking to bring her side back to winning ways when they face the Warriorz at the Arun Jaitley stadium in New Delhi.

An Exciting contest coming your way ⏳

The stage is set for a fierce contest between the two competitive sides in WPL. In the blue corner, we have Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians and in the yellow corner, we have Alyssa Healy's UP Warriorz. Both the teams are coming after losing their last match - MI against Delhi Capitals and UPW against Royal Challengers Bangalore. MI's pace battery, Shabnim Ismail, broke the record for the fastest delivery in women's cricket in the last game. Hayley Matthews and Amanjot Kaur were the other two positives for MI in the last match, whereas Alyssa Healy regained her batting form in the last encounter. A thrilling game is expected between the two teams.

Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians will take on UP Warriorz.Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians will take on UP Warriorz.MIW have six points to their credit after playing five matches in the league, while UPW has four points after playing five games. Mumbai holds the third spot in the points table, while UP is at the fourth spot.

On the flip side, U.P. are sitting in fourth place, just below Mumbai. They need to win with a good margin to surpass their opposition in the points table. The bowlers of the side were too much expensive in the last match despite of having an early breakthrough. The skipper, Alyssa Healy stepped up and played a good knock and got past her half-century but failed to see her side home. Deepti Sharma and Poonam Khemnar also tried their best in the middle order but the target was enormous and thus they ended up on the losing side. Alyssa Healy needs to shuffle the pack and come up with something that their opposition wouldn't be expecting. Will Mumbai take revenge of the reverse fixture earlier in the season or will U.P. inflict a double on the defending champions?

The champions of the inaugural season, Mumbai, started off their campaign on a strong note but they lost their tempo in the middle as they now have lost a couple in their last 3 games. The side lost its last game against Delhi in what felt like a one-sided contest. Hayley Matthews was looking decent while she lasted in the middle. Amandeep Kaur in the middle showed some class but the target was a bit too big. The bowling unit failed to pick up wickets regularly and lost the plot to a brilliant knock by Jemimah. The side has got it all that takes to go the distance but they need to bring up their A-game sooner rather than later.

UP has 4 points in the bag and they need to climb up the ranks. They were on a 2-match winning streak but were put back by a loss in the recent one. Their bowling unit had failed to take timely wickets and only Anjali Sarvani, Deepti Sharma, and Sophie Ecclestone managed a wicket each. Grace Harris didn't get any wickets, but she bowled economically. However, their opposition put up a giant total on the board. Kiran Navgire gave them a strong start along with Alyssa Healy but after Navgire's dismissal, they lost many wickets in quick intervals.

Deepti Sharma and Poonam Khemnar tried to rebuild their innings but the pressure was too much to handle for them. They will want to bounce back strongly in this game and get those two points which might prove to be very valuable. Mumbai, on the other hand, has 6 points in the bag. They lost their previous encounter as well. Their bowlers also allowed the opposition to put up a huge total on the board. Shabnim Ismail, Pooja Vastrakar, Hayley Matthews, and Saika Ishaque took one wicket each. Their batting unit couldn't soak the pressure, and Yastika Bhatia, Natalie Sciver-Brunt, and Harmanpreet Kaur all had been dismissed early. After that, Amanjot Kaur and Sajeevan Sajana put up a good fight towards the end but ended up on the losing side.
