That’s exactly what happened. This movie was announced after BB2, but then Shehzada flopped and SPKK underperformed. And every other week Mukesh Bhatt gives a new statement reminding people that he owns the intellectual property rights to the Aashiqui franchise and basically he’ll decide what happens. At one point he even said they can change the cast if things don’t work out, but by the second statement he backed off and said they were lucky to get a star like Kartik. But he had mentioned that if it doesn’t work with Basu they’ll move on to a new director. He’s completely denied Tara being part of the project and insists it will be a new girl. And now he’s sorry they announced the movie which is understandable given all the news and rumors around it.
