Doesn't happen that often.

Last we had Anubhav Sinha's Thappad.

Dor was also directed by a male director.

Why am I hoping against hope for the success of this film? I know in my heart it probably won't garner even 1 crore on its opening day.

But I can't help it. IT LOOKS SO GOOD.

No better example and bigger blockbuster than Damini. Rajkumar Santoshi created some of the best characters ,Damini being easily one of his best creations. To think Juhi Chawla won over Meenakshi Seshadri for her silly role in Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke.What an embarrassment for Filmfare!😵‍💫

Rajkumar Santhoshi also made Lajja in 2001. The women were the central part

Yes, indeed! And another superb movie. 🙌

Rajkumar Santoshi has created some of the best characters, be it the main leads or the supporting characters. He gives such perfect character arcs to each and every character in his movies.

Maya Memsaab had been quite woman-centric (directed by Ketan Mehta).

Manmarziyaan, too (Anurag Kashyap)...then Mary Kom (by Omung Kumar), Neerja (by Ram Madhvani) and Kahaani (by Sujoy Ghosh)...although they concentrate on one woman.

Ram Madhvani made Neerja and I liked the movie very much. Jim Sarbh's performance as a terrorist was outstanding!

Obviously a woman director can bring a certain nuance to a female centric movie but why point out male directors directing such movies if they handle same topics sensitively? Tbh these movies portray the plight of women, women friendship, their hardships so clearly without going overboard. Why take the hardwork that these guys put away just cause of gender?
