it doesn’t matter who is watching. TRP rating comes from how many TVs were on showing that show on that time period. So if Anupama comes at 10 PM, how many TVs are showing Anupama at 10 PM. If the whole village is just watching on 1 TV, its counted as 1. Hotstar is online platform. Its not counted in BARC TRP rating. They have different counting done for online. I hope it makes sense. It doesnt matter if its aunties, uncles, kids, youths.

When the audience themselves like to watch this garbage and negativity then how can we blame the makers. TRP increased to 2.9 which means people want to watch this. Sahi hai, people boycott Bollywood for stupidest thing possible but dont want to boycott this garbage that they see on TV everyday.

Makers are very smart. They know very well that vast majority of the show's viewerbase wants to see Anupamaa being oppressed by Shahs and yet continue to serve them, as a woman should not be independent and only live and sacrifice for family. TRP's or not, Anupamaa's characterisation and the regressive dialogues and plotlines have shaped up to show exactly this line of thought and this depiction will keep appealing to the majority conservative mindset, which does not believe that a woman should take a stand for herself or is capable of going forward in life.
