ICC T20 World Cup, Qualifiers: Group B

WI vs Scotland: Bellerive Oval, Hobart

SCO vs WI Match Details Scotland will take on against West Indies today,  starting at 03:00 PM (local time) at Bellerive Oval, Hobart. This will be the third game of the tournament and Group B’s first game.smiley10

Two-time champions West Indies will head into the contest as favorites. They have services of many T20 stalwarts.

On the other hand, Scotland, who were invincible in the first round of last year's T20 WC, would aim to cause an upset.

T20 World Cup 2022: After a brilliant opening day of the T20 World Cup 2022, day 2 is also set to witness some tough action.

Two-time champions West Indies will lock horns against Scotland on Monday and will look to start well to book their spot for the Super 12.

However, the Scotland side will also look to kick start their campaign with a win. Ahead of the clash, here are all the details of the match, including live-streaming.

Both teams will enter the tournament off the back of indifferent runs. Scotland have lost their last five T20Is, while West Indies have just one win to show for it. The two-time champions won just one game in the 2021 T20 World Cup. Scotland, on the other hand, advanced to the Super 12 after topping their group but could not win a game thereafter.

Nicholas Pooran is the leading run-scorer for West Indies in the last year and is in excellent form.

Rovman Powell has made 474 runs in his last 19 innings and has been a consistent performer, too.

For Scotland, Richie Berrington could be the player to watch out for. He has been the side’s best batter, with 471 runs since the start of 2021. George Munsey and Matthew Cross are expected to open the innings.

This is the first T20 World Cup without Chris Gayle. And the first without Dwayne Bravo. Also missing for West Indies are Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine. That's a massive load of T20 experience and genius they have lost in recent times. Add to it Shimron Hetmyer, who was replaced after he could not make both his original and his rescheduled flights to Australia. It's the first time that West Indies have to qualify for the Super 12s, and there is a realistic chance that the two-time champions might not make it.

You may not want to be wristspinner in Hobart, and not just because staging matches there in October risks some rather chilly days and evenings. It has far and away the highest economy rate for wristspinners, at 8.76, more than a run higher per over than the next highest, which is the MCG at 7.59. It's interesting to note that Hobart Hurricanes signed legspinner Shadab Khan in the BBL draft. Fingerspin, though, fares somewhat better, with an economy rate of 7.30.

Hussey's take: "Batter-friendly. Just go hard from ball one. Rarely going to get bowled out. Very small boundaries on both sides of the ground, and generally one end is pretty small too. And if that end is with the breeze, you are on a hiding to nothing. It feels like a 30-metre boundary. If you're batting, go hard from ball one and you end up getting about 200-plus. But with the ball, whatever your plan is to that batter, you've got to execute and use the breeze to your advantage because it's such a blowy outdoor stadium. It's exceptionally hard to defend.

"If the batter can move around the crease at the end of the innings, you generally get the odd full toss and then they change their plan. So as a batter, you have to move around your crease a bit to sort of stuff up the bowler's area of expertise of execution."

WI and Scotland were never met in T20Is before!

The two teams have never locked horns in T20Is before, and the upcoming contest would mark their maiden meeting in the format. In ODIs, however, the two sides have met thrice, with West Indies emerging winners every single time.⭐️

In recent games which they played, WI lost each game except one.

West Indies are aiming to change their fortunes

WI haven't really enjoyed a great run of form this year, having won just seven of their 21 T20Is.The onus will be on the likes of Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers and, Rovman Powell, who have been in form lately. For Scotland, skipper Richie Berrington needs to lead from the front.Pacer Josh Davey will look to make a mark with the new ball.

Afeef: "West Indies may not have Chris Gayle and Andre Russell, but atleast they have mini versions of them in Kyle Mayers/Evin Lewis and Rovman Powell "
