I don't think vindictive hatred or obsession are rational things to begin with. Expecting rationality or sense from Malini— a person who was obsessive enough to rape someone and who finds herself incapable of love— is naïve. Imlie was groomed as was Meethi but does that stop Anu from hating her and perpetrate class-caste violence on her? No.
Because hatred in itself doesn't make sense

I read an interesting post on twitter today. Forgot who wrote it, and can't seem to find it when I go back hunting for it. But in a nutshell it said: Malini's problem was never the fact that Aditya fell in love with another woman, it was the fact that the woman Aditya fell in love with was Imlie. Why? Because in some twisted sense it made her like her mother Anu, and Imlie like Meethi.
I remember seeing a clip, of a pre Aryan episode. Here Malini asked Aditya for a promise. That no matter what, they will never let their marriage become one like her parents' (Dev and Anu's). Malini grew up in that dysfunctional and broken family. Her biggest fear was loveless, meaningless marriage like her parent's.
And yet, when it was revealed that she was cheated on. She was obviously shattered, devastated and torn. But she got over it. She braved through and even tried to help Adi_lie. What changed (other than the CV's mind) was Anu's taunts and ramblings hitting the nerve. Anu painted the image in Malini's mind that she is now Anu 2.0 and her half sister. Her father's other daughter is Meethi 2.0.
Just like Meethi robbed Anu of a happy marriage. It is Imlie who robbed Malini of a happy marriage. And Malini started believing that. So, it was less about getting Adi and Adi's love - but more about causing Imlie pain and misery for ruining her life.
That is why it makes complete sense for her to want revenge and continue coming after Imlie.
Thoughts?
Yes Malini has reason to come back. At first Malini turning against Imlie was because of AKT but now after AKT is out of picture the reason Imlie gets a family and she doesn't makes her think more cruelly and yes she has made her life's motive to destroy Imlie's life.
Imlie has a family she is soon going to be mother. The childs father is with her but Malini was thrown out of house the reason is obliviously because of Malini herself but she completely ignore that fact and she blames Imlie for her misfortune. Though Malini says to Imlie that she plays the victim card Malini herself plays the same. I don't deny that Malini was wronged by AKT and even minutely Imlie too was a cause for her sufferings but by highlighting the fact that Imlie destroyed her life unknowingly she is also tagging herself as victim and because she feels she doesn't want sympathy and to show she is strong enough she is on the path of revenge. Secondly she knows that after Aryan entered Imlie's life Imlie had a capable backing so until and unless Aryan is out of Imlie's life she can't harm Imlie so by all means she will try to separate them.
Though her insecurities and why she wants revenge is understandable it can not be said right because if every person on the earth who was wronged by someone turned out to be like this than to Sita maiyya hi jane. I thought CV's will keep a path for Malini's redemption but using her own daughter is the last straw.
But I agree to the fact that Anu was responsible for Malini to turn this evil. But Malini stayed evil is her choice.
absolutely prefer this being the driver of their conflict to a silly cat fight over one (or two) silly, low quality man. the complex and layered dynamics amongst these women is far superior.Originally posted by: DyuQueen
Exactly my point
The seed of hatred and the drive for revenge was planted in Malini's mind by Anu. Anu was cheated by her husband with Meethi, but couldn't take any revenge from Meethi. She always thought it Meethi who was at fault, she never considered than even Meethi was a victim of betrayal and it was Dev who played both the women like fiddle.
So when same history repeated with her daughter and Meethi's daughter at the same position, she provoked her own daughter that the Mother-Daughter duo, i.e., Meethi-Imlie are very much alike, whose only purpose is to destroy their, as in, Anu-Malini, happiness.
At first she sympathized Imlie's situation and circumstances. But when parallels were drawn between the two situations Malini's all rational and good quality flew out the window, leaving behind all the negative qualities like hatred, revenge, vengeance, all tied one single person, Imlie.
although i didn't watch imlie prior to Aryan's entry, your analysis pretty logical. hopefully makers execute this track properly and arylie fight malini together and there's no separation
In the OG version (ishti kutum), malini had become positive after a point and moved on by marrying another guy. so hopefully we get something like this here too
I was an ardent imlie viewer, Adilie shipper for the first 120 episodes or so.
Adilie romancing while AKT still being married to Malini and not disclosing their relationship is what threw me off (and imlie’s constant sindoor jhaap). It was kinda nauseating. So I quit watching and only read WUs. Started watching again for Malini & Kunal. Then one fine day, out of the blue she was shown turning negative after a slight instigation from Anu.. didn’t make any sense because Anu from day1 was instigating Malini against imlie. It seemed like CVs took this route because Malini gained audience sympathy, and this was the only way they could justify Adilie. Bass aur kya, I said ta ta bye bye to the show
