Chapter 05 

Malhar examined the movements of the cleaners for two days and realised how everything Kalyani said till now was absolutely right. No one exept the cleaners AKA terrorists were going inside the lab. He was thanking kalyani in his mind because it would have been really difficult for them to actually find these terrorists if Kalyani didn't dare to reveal about them.

Malhar thought of calling Kalyani the next day as it was late in the night.

Next day:

Kalyani was sitting in the canteen having her breakfast as she didn't have the heart to make anything. She has unknowingly been waiting for Malhar's call but obviously she couldn't do anything about it. She even thought about asking him about the progress of the case via messages but texting also felt really awkward. Malhar finished his morning meal and called her as he himself was kind of interested in calling Kalyani too! Though he had convinced himself that the reason behind it is the case being so intriguing. He finally dialed her number and Kalyani instantly answered the call and the conversation started like-

"Hello"

"Hello main Malhar bol raha hu"

"Ji boliye Mr. Rane"

Malhar made a sour face listening to her calling him "Mr. Rane" but he didn't start the old topic again as they had important things to discuss.

"Mujhe aapki madat chahiye thi ek kaam ke liye."

"Haan boliye."

"Actually tum sahi thi, wo log terrorist hi hain"

"To aapko aaj tak mujhpe bharosa nehi tha?!" Kalyani said in a little louder voice expressing her amusment

"Maine aisa to nehi bola na!!"

"To kya bolna chahte hain aap?"

"Main ye bolna chahta hu Kalyani ki tum bilkul sahi thi aur wo log hi terrorists hain. Aur ab hume jald se jald unke plan ka pata lagana hoga aur unko arrest karna hoga."

"Ji"

An awkward silence takes over and she then starts 

"Toh......mujhe kya karna hoga?"

"Actually Kalyani main tumhe ek chip doonga kya tum usse wahan ye file mein fit kar paogi? Actually main khud hi jaana chahta tha but by chance agar kisiko shak.."

"No no i can do it. Koyi problem nehi hogi aap fikar mat kariye."

"To fir aaj main aajau chip dene?"

"Par aaj toh college mein annual function hain. Aaj kab lagayenge?"

"Par isse zyada der toh hum afford bhi nehi kar sakhte"

"To fir theek hain aaj function mein hi karte chip ko fit"

"Theek hain main aajaunga."

"Haan aap chip de dena aur samjha bhi dena ki kahan rakhna hain."

"Okay" 

Kalyani kept an alert eye and within a few minutes those terrorists were asked to clean the area near stage again as Kalyani spilled some sprite there. And there she called him.

"Wo log abhi nehi aayenge bohot der tak, abhi main set karti hu chip"

"Tumhe kaise pata wo nehi aayenge?"

"Arreh aise kaam bigada hain unka ki ab toh programme start hone tak cleaning hi karenge" Kalyani chuckled and Malhar smiled too even though he didn't express.

She was on the call through Bluetooth and when she hidingly entered the lab he said through the call, "ceiling mein kya dekh rahi ho?"

She got muffled and said "aapko kaise pata chala?!"

"Police wala hoon na" he said in an innocent voice.

"Wait yahan toh maine hi camera fit kiya tha jo aap abhi dekh rahe honge bahar. Kitni pagal hu main."

"Haan ye to sahi kahan" Malhar murmured with a smile.

"Ab uss left side ke door ke peeche se ladder lao aur cabinet ke saamne set kardo."

Kalyani did accordingly and Malhar could see how much problems she was facing as the ladder was anyway heavy, plus she was wearing a saree. After putting all her energy she succeeded to set the ladder and brought the chip out of her potli bag which she had attached on her waist.

"Dheere se chado, gir jaogi!!" Malhar said with care.

"Nehi bas heels haina isiliye zara dikkat ho rahi hain."

"Haan bas thoda sa aur"

"Haan pohoch gayi."

"Ab uss box right pe dekho, haan uss sticker ke neeche iss chip ko attach kardo."

She did accordingly and said "huh finally ho gaya"

"Ab dhyaan se utr...." Malhar couldn't complete his sentence when she said "mujhe utarne mein bohot darr lag raha hain!!!!"

"Shaant ho jao Kalyani, bilkul shaant. Dheere dheere, ek leg neeche fir doosra."

She was coming down the way he said her to.

She was almost on the ground but suddenly her hand collids with the container of liquid Benzene and it falls down. Kalyani jumps and moves aside instantly but a little amount of Benzene got in contact with her hand. Her pallu got marks of Bengene. She almost screamed in pain as she was feeling a burning sensation on her hand.

Malhar who was seeing her setting the chip since the beginning started running towards the chemistry lab as soon as he saw that incident taking place. He kept saying in the phone "Kalyani tum theek ho?"

He reached in front of the floor but there were so many people that he had to wait for a few minutes to actually hide from people and enter the lab.

He runningly goes near her and hold her hand in his.

Kalyani got shocked and said "Aap kyun aaye? Agar kisine dekh liya to?"

"Arreh tumne apna haat dekha hain?? Pata bhi hain ye kya hain?"

"Kya?"

Malhar picked the container and said "yes I was right. It's liquid Bengene"

Kalyani's eyes grew big and Malhar rapidly pulled her towards the washbasin and washed her hand with soap and water thoroughly. He then goes further and cleans the two three drops that were spilled on the floor so that it doesn't spread in the air. He comes to her then.

"Tum theek ho?? Bohot jal raha hain? Aur thoda paani mein rakhna hain haat?" Malhar said with tension visible on his face.

"Main theek hu aisa kuch neh...." her words got cut as he continued

"Aur kahin pe lagi hain? Aur kahin burning sensation ho raha hain?"

"Haan peir mein zara sa..."

Malhar didn't let her complete but went to the wash basin. He brought his handkerchief out and soaked it into the water amusing kalyani. He then bent down and started wiping exposed part of her feet as the covered part can't be in contact with Bengene.

Kalyani got numb and blank for a second and the next second she got her composure back and almost panicked saying "AAP YE KYA KAR RAHE HAIN MR.RANE!!!!"

She also sat down stopping his hands but he was adamant.

"Kalyani ab ye mat bolna ki peir chune se koyi chota ho jaata hain ya kisika apman ho jaata hain. It's for medical reasons and main toh bas tumhari madat kar raha hu.

"Par aise..."

"Par war kuch nehi..."

Kalyani couldn't resist but go aww on the cuteness of the Acp of this city.

"Itna cute Acp bhi hota hain kya kisi sheher ka! Kitne sweet hain ye!!" She thought in mind.

"Tum abhi ke abhi ghar jao aur kapde badlo aur nahalo. Wearing this saree is not safe."

"Par Mr. Rane mera toh abhi performance hain! Inn sab mein main to bhool hi gayi! Abhi tak toh performance ka time bhi ho chuka hain."

"Performance?"

"Haan aaj I have a singing performance."

"Toh wo jaldi khatam karke ghar chalo"

"Chalo matlab?"

"Tumhare saath ye sab iss mission ki wajah se hua. Tum abhi meri zinmedari ho toh jaldi se performance khatam karke ghar jao."

They both went to the auditorium separately and saw that the programme had already started. Malhar sat in a corner and after 4/5 minutes Kalyani's name was announced. He got extremely excited and unusually nervous which even he doesn't know why.

She came on the stage and started singing. Her eyes were unintentionally finding only one face and his eyes were stuck on hers. She finally found him and the lyrics went like

"Koi Bandhani joda odh ke

Baabul ki gali aaun chhod ke

Tere hi liye laaungi piya

Solah saal ke saawan jod ke

Pyar se thamna, dor bareek hai

Saat janmon ki yeh pehli tareekh hai

Dor ka ek main sira

Aur tera hai doosra

Jud sake beech mein kayi tadap hai na"

And her song ended as well as their eye contact which they both didn't had any idea about..

The function ended and they walked separately for a minute then got into the jeep so that no one sees them together as their mission should be kept very personal.

In the jeep

"Accha gaati ho tum" Malhar said after some moments of silence

"Thank you" Kalyani smiled.

"Saare friends tumhare kitna cheer kar rahe thhe. Turant nikal aayi tum, kuch sochenge nehi wo?" Malhar said as their conversations got comfortable.

"Mera koyi dost nehi hain."

"Matlab?"

"Matlab main yahan sirf padhayi karne aayi hu Mr.Rane. Aur mera bas wohi maksad hain. Mere saare classmates bohot acche hain and I respect them all par ab iss naye sheher nayi jagah mein kisi pe bharosa karke usse dosti karu itni himmat nehi hoti aur lagta hain ki itna time bhi nehi hain. Bachpan se mere bohot dost rahe hain par zindagi mein aage badne ke liye saare attachments peeche chodhke aana pada mujhe. Ab naye dost banane se darr lagta hain."

Malhar felt the sadness in her voice and tried to divert the topic.

"Fir toh wo sab tumhare fans thhe, itni taaliyan baja rahe thhe"

Kalyani smiled listening to him and they reached after a few minutes.

"Thank you so much Mr.Rane. Aaj maine aapka bohot kaam bada diya."

"Welcome...aur Tum jaldi jaake ye sab change karo."

"Hmmm" said Kalyani as she turns to leave.

"Kalyani" Malhar said abruptly.

"Waise tum mujhe Malhar ya fir Malhar ji bhi bol sakhti ho par ye Mr. Rane bohot ajeeb hain!!"

"Haan this sounds better..." Kalyani said smilingly.

Kalyani reached her apartment where she lives and Malhar goes to the PS.

Malhar was a turmoil about why he said so much to her and why he asked her to call her Malharji. He feels as if he is behaving way too weird but his mind says that it's his first case with someone who is not professional so he is just being careful and protective. Not thinking much he got ingrossed in his work.

Kalyani came out after talking shower and picks her phone. Going to the call log, she changed the caller name from "Mr.Rane" to "Malharji" and smiled.

I literally wrote this in almost one day and sab kuch instant decide kiya aur upar se itna lamba Kheech liya. Aur iss ff mein Kallu ji humari surili hain unlike the show... warna everything else is the same. I hope you all would like it😁

They are walking slowly towards each other… aur ladki ko saree mein dekhke mj ke arman nehi jaye but dil mein aise dhak dhak ho rela tha kyunki Malhar toh pyaar mein gir raha hain😝🥳but he controlled it kyunki he is the young acp, he can’t melt. He himself is denying his emotions😌 

Kalyani ke iss surili awaz mein hi toh mj kho jayenge saari Zindagi ke liye😌😌 

And Kalyani’s thoughts about friendship can be called the reason why she will eventually get sooo attached and dependent on Malhar(which we saw in the beginning) and Malhar will also be head to toe hers❤️ 

Kyunki parents se bhi relationship kaafi formal hi hoti hain kyunki they don’t get to understand/allow everything. So Malhar would be play all the roles in his pagli’s life❤️❤️❤️

Chapter 06

Flashback ends.

Prensent:

Kalyani poured her maggie and let it be cold for a few minutes.

After rearranging her books, she sat with the maggie checked her phone only to realise that he had called. She understood that he must have reached home as he calls less from work. She thought about doing a video call him and he picked up.

"Pohoch gaye aap ghar?"

"Haan kal jaldi station jaana hain, ek case ki lead milegi subha. Bas ye theek se nipat jaye."

“Ho jayega case solved. But ab sochke kya hoga? Kuch nehi. So abhi chupchap khana leke aaiye.”

“Haan wahi karne jaa raha hu. Tum to ho nehi yaha jo mujhe khila dogi haaton se.” Malhar said twisting his lips.

“Wah wah kya baat hain. Aapko toh fir bhi Rajan khana banake deta hain roz. Main jo ye Maggie khaati hu uska kya? Aur ab aapko mere haaton se khaana hain!” Kalyani frowned her eyebrows.

“Tumhe ye noodles woodles khaate dekhna accha nehi lagta...” his voice got dimmed

He continued “khana order kar deta hu main. Itni thakk jaati ho tum, aur poore din ke baad bhi khud banake hi khana padh raha hain…”

“Arreh Malharji! Aap fikar kyun kar rahe hain! Mujhe pasand hain Maggie, aapko toh pata hain!”

“Par fir bhi Kalyani. Tumhe ye sab roz roz khate dekhna Accha nehi lagta. Jab humari shaadi hogi, Tab main tumhe khana khilaunga apne haaton se.”

“Arreh wah bada pyaar aaraha hain aapko.” She said smilingly. "Aur roz roz kahan banati hu main maggie?!! Wo toh iss week exams thhe aur periods bhi start hone gaye. Bohot tired feel ho raha hain..."

"Aur mujhe afsos hota hain ki yahan hoke bhi kabhi kuch nehi kar paata main..." He was evidently sad.

“Aapko pata hain at the end of the day, what relaxes me? Aap! Aapki ye baatein, aapka pyaar aur ye assurance ki koyi hain iss duniya jise mere hone se, mere ehsason se bohot farak padhta hain. Aapse baatein karte karte jis din main dinner karti ho, ussdin khana kuch bhi ho mujhe best hi lagta hain… aur aaj toh mere liye double khushi ki baat hain kyunki aaj humne saath mein wakt bhi guzara aur aap jaldi police station se bhi aagaye .”

Malhar kept insisting on ordering something but she shut him up saying she is hungry and can’t wait now for the food to arrive.

They started talking about various things including kalyani’s studies and Malhar’s case.

“Waise tumhara wo friend Kaisa hain jiska accident hua tha?” Asked Malhar.

“Wo toh theek hain ab, discharged ho gaya hain. Doctor ne bola ki agar thodi aur der hoti hospital le jaane mein toh condition serious ho sakhti thi!! Accha hua hum usse sahi time pe le jaa paye”

“Tum humesha aise sabki madat karne ke liye ready kaise ho jaati ho? Police mein mujhse zyada tumhe hona chahiye tha.”

“Aisi koyi baat nehi hain! Aap aise hi humesha exaggerate karte hain”

“Huh yaad nehi ussdin police station mein kya hua tha? Ek saal pehle?

“Arreh ussdin toh uske Zindagi ka sawal tha!!!”

“Dekha? Aisi ho tum jo "uske" Zindagi ka sochke apni Zindagi ki parwa nehi karti!”

“Aapko pata hain aaj hi main soch rahi thi ussdin ke bareme!!!”

And they both started thinking about the incidents which took place that day….

Flashback:

After the annual function, that day at night:

"Arreh ye microphone?" Kalyani noticed in her bag. That's the time when she recollected about seeing this microphone falling from malhar's pocket when he was bringing the handkerchief out. But Malhar instantly had started wiping her feet after soaking it in the water and that's what startled kalyani and she forgot to give him the microphone afterwards as she was ingrossed in arguing with him about him cleaning her feet. Him wiping her feet was the last thing she had expected and it shocked her soo much that she forgot about the microphone subconsciously and then, kept adoring him.

"Abhi to bohot raat ho chuki hain. Kal malharji ko call karungi, warna iss microphone ke bina chip lagane ka kya faayda."

Morning:

Malhar came to police station and thought about the terrorist case. But before he could do anything, his meeting started and he had to switch his phone off.

Kalyani called him twice but it showed switched off. So she texted him about her having the microphone.

She was going to the college by foot and a thought came into her mind "agar malharji ne message nehi dekha to? Wo bechare chip dhoondte hi reh jayenge. Phone bhi switched off hain. Ye gali chodhke saamne hain police station. Deke aau main unhe?"

Kalyani's confusion knew no bound but at the end she decided to finally pay a visit to the PS.

She went in the police station and got stunned as the Pune police station was big enough and indeed a very different environment for her.

A constable comes and asks " kya hua madam? Kuch chahiye aapko?"

"Wo..mu..mujhe..."

"Aapko kya madam?" These constable asked further.

"Mujhe Acp sir se milna hain." Kalyani said gathering some confidence.

"Sir se milna allowed nehi hain aur abhi toh bilkul bhi mil nehi sakhte. Unki aur dm sir ki bade minister saab ke saath meeting chal rahi hain. Aap kaun? Aapko kyun milna hain Acp sir se?"

"Wo main...." Kalyani couldn't think of an answer as she genuinely didn't know how she is related to Malhar. The consequences of their lives have led them to each other and the story is just too much right now to make the constable understand.

She handed him a box and said "Aap ye box Malha...I mean acp sir ko de dijiyega please jab unki meeting khatam ho."

"Aur agar sir pooche ki kisne diya toh kya batau?"

"Wo samajh jayenge aap bas dena ye unhe."

Kalyani proceeded to go and find a rickshaw otherwise her college arrival time will pass.

But suddenly the view in front of her eyes stopped her. A cat was  walking on the edge of the well. The moment it saw a butterfly, it got attracted and it jumped to catch it and slipped into the well with a huge sound. It didn't go unnoticed by anyone there but kalyani is the first one to run to the spot.

"Ye billi toh gir gayi! Please koyi madat karo isse upar laane mein warna ye toh doob jayegi!!!" Kalyani told everyone around with panicked expressions.

"Arreh ek billi hi toh hain beta. Aisi koyi badi baat nehi hain, khamakha apna wakt barbaad mat karo." Said an old passerby.

"Janwar hain toh kya hum insaniyat bhool jaye? Aankhon ke saamne usse marte dekhe?"

And Kalyani didn't think thrice. She straight up jumped into the well.

She picked the cat in her lap as the well was not really deep. She hold the cat up and realised what a mistake she has made. She now has no clue how she is gonna go out of this nightmare.

Meanwhile the meeting ended and Malhar came out of the police station to see off the respective minister. But he instantly heard Kalyani's voice as he came out of the PS.

He recognised her voice instantly and rushed to the place. He took only a second to understand the situation and sent a constable to bring a big rope instantly.

Kalyani saw Malhar and felt a kind of instant relief. As if she knew that he would save her.

Malhar threw the rope in the well and screamed "rassi ko padko Kalyani, hum tumhe upar kheech lenge." The other people were also gathered to see the "tamasha".

Kalyani tried to hold the rope firmly but couldn't as she was holding the cat. When Malhar and others tried to pull her up, the rope was slipping from her.

As Kalyani and the cat both were in the well, it was getting really tough for Kalyani to survive there and Malhar could easily see her struggling.

Not bearing anymore, he said "Kalyani thoda side mein jao." And before she could reply, he just jumped into the well!!!

Kalyani was too astonished at him again and again, before she could realise, he grabbed her by the waist while she is holding the cat. He twisted the rope around his one wrist and hold her with the other hand. "kasske padko" is what he told her meekily; she kept looking at him steadfastly. And the people pulled them up.

It was indeed a sight. As if a Prince was bringing his Princess after saving her.

They were finally pulled up and he managed to sit on the edge of the well with her still in his arms. "Tum theek ho?" He asked after putting her down on her feet.

"Haan Aap?" Said she with care.

Without realising their surroundings, he just blurted "Haan par tumhe kya zaroorat thi bina soche samjhe kudne ki?"

"Aap bhi toh bina soche neeche aagaye piche piche!!" Kalyani said straightly.

"Toh main neeche na aata toh tum upar kaise aati"

"Aur main neeche na jaati toh ye billi kaise upar aati"

"Arreh billi gir gayi thi toh kisiki madat maang sakhti thi na? College bhi miss ho gaya tumhara aaj!!"

"Main toh college hi jaa rahi thi!!"

"Toh iss raaste kaise aagayi? Station ke saamne?"

"Aana toh aapke wajah se pada!! Aur haan, Kisine nehi ki madat aur time bhi nehi tha! Ye bechari doob rahi thi" Kalyani said showing the cat which she was holding and that's the moment they both realised that they were standing soo closed fighting like "Mr. And Mrs." as always.

They just went apart like spring and Kalyani kept the cat under a sunny place so that it gets dried easily and the cat sat quitely.

The minister had left so Malhar firstly called him and apologised and explained about the situation. The minister was generous so he didn't care much and responded assertively.

The commissioner though noticed Malhar being comfortable with the girl but didn't interrupt as it wasn't the right time. The crowd got lessened and Malhar said "tum jaldi ghar jaake kapde badal lo".

"Aap bhi" said Kalyani.

"Haan tum bhi kapde badalke aao Malhar" the commissioner asked Malhar to go home too so that he can change into another uniform.

"Par sir..."

"The meeting just got ended. Tum jao. Zyada time nehi lagega."

"Okay sir" answered Malhar.
