Why Indian audience isn't impressed by "The Batman"?

The Batman has dropped badly on Monday in India, and according to Box Office India the lifetime nett collection would be around 35-40 Crores.

If we compare it to Joker which released in 2019, it's lifetime figure was 64 Crores. Both movies opened the same at 5.75 Crores.

I understand there's a pandemic going on, but The Batman got a solo release unlike Joker which clashed with two movies War and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. That evens out the disadvantage of The Batman.

Joker was A rated, only released in English, no dubbed versions. That limited it's audience. It was violent and not for kids or family audience.

The Batman was dubbed in Hindi and other regional languages, was made for kids and the family audience. Also had action to appeal to the masses.

Then what made Indian audience like the villain movie more than superhero film? I've watched both Joker and the Batman movie in theaters. Audience gave standing ovation and clapped for Joker after the movie was over. While for Batman, audience was clearly bored and some of them made it clear that they didn't like the movie.

The Batman is doing great business all over the world, and has got huge critical appreciation as well. So what made Indian audience not like it? Has MCU spoiled them to look for humor in every superhero movie?

EDIT: It was tongue in cheek

And Joker had a direct clash with War. A movie which had a record breaking opening, was a Blockbuster and highest grosser of the year.

Two movies can do good business simultaneously. Batman and Gangu didn't even clash, and they both have different target audience.

Batman is no spiderman..the craze for that was on another level. I personally found the movie too dark and dragging at several points..no surprise it didn't work..but at least it is not a global disaster like Matrix..if that even says anything

I agree it drags but a Batman movie obviously would be dark. It's about a dark character. I'm not even comparing it to No Way Home.

That movie had an established character from the biggest franchise in the world, used nostalgia through cameos of Tobey and Andrew and other old Spider-Man villains.

The Batman obviously is nowhere near that film. I'm comparing it with Joker who is a known Batman villain and got famous because of the former. And the movie is doing well worldwide. Only the Indian audience is not impressed.

I saw the movie, it's boring and slow tbh, also the film demands a lot of attention cause of all the clues and plot points, honestly, I think I would have enjoyed it more on OTT with the option to pause and rewind. The third act is a mess and there are no great action sequences except a car chase that we already saw in promos. The trailer also gave away all key scenes and dialogue, nothing really shocking in the film
