Shivi OS: Second Chances

Hi, everyone. Here is my OS for the Diwali track.

Raavi couldn’t do it anymore. It was too much seeing everyone she loved not love her back, not put her first. She couldn’t help witness history repeating itself: someone she loved giving her mixed signals and running to another girl the first chance he got. Last time, Shiva was there to save her from herself. Raavi feared that this time, no one would come to her rescue. Thankfully, she had learned that life was worth living even without that one person she spent her entire life pinning over.

The last straw for her was when Disha had done aarti with her bhootnath. Granted, he didn’t have much of a choice because of his mother but it still hurt. She retreated to their room to deal with her emotions in peace. Anita noticed her sister missing and set out to find her. She may be many things in the eyes of the Pandya family but she is still a good sister.

Anita walked in on her sister sobbing. Raavi was on the floor, hugging her knees and letting the tears flow. Anita rushed to Raavi’s aid.

“Shant ho ja, Raavi. Tuje yahan rehna hai toh asise kese chalega?” Anita took her younger sister in her arms and Raavi broke down even more.

“Di, muje mumma ke pas jana hai. Sirf wo hi muje pyaar karegi.”

“Aisa nahi bol te. Dekh iddhar sub tuje kitna pyaar karte hai. Main, fui, Dhara, Gautum aur sub se zyada Shiva.”

“Shiva mujse sirf nafrat karta hai. Agar pyaar karta toh muje divorce deta kya?” Raavi asked.

“Shiva tujse kitna pyaar karta hai woh toh koi andha bhi dekh sakta hai. Muje yeh samajh nahi aa raha ki tu usse kyu nathi batati.” Anita reasoned.

“Last time kissi ko bataya tha tab ka anjaam bhul gai aap? Mana ke mere dil main Dev ke liye feelings nahi hai par woh shaadi ki raat jo dard hua tha woh abhi chubta hai. Main Shiva se bohot pyaar karti hu par daar lagta hai. Kahi ussne Dev jase joothe wade kiye toh?”

“Shiva Dev nahi hai. Ussne galtiya ki hai par kabhi tujse jooth nahi bola, woh bhi aasi cheezo main.”

“Nahi, Di. Main nahi bol paungi usse. Agar usse dil main mere liye kuch bhi hai toh ussko hi bolna padega. Agar Disha nahi hoti toh baat alag thi. Par agar maine usse bol diya aur ussne bola ki ussko Disha pasand hai toh main nahi jhal paungi.” Raavi remained stubborn.

Unbeknownst to both the sisters, Shiva had heard the entire conversation. Is she wanted a proposal she would get a proposal. But first gehave to make sure he didn’t repeat the mistake his brother had made. He had to talk to Disha and get out of this engagement.

When the entire family was busy with fireworks, Shiva pulled Disha aside and told her that he could never marry her. He explained how he would do everything in his power to not divorce Raavi. Just as he was talking to her, Raavi stepped in the house to get medicines for Dhara. She let out a gasp upon seeing Shiva and Disha together. She quickly got the medicine and ran to her Masi ma’s house. Some space from the situation would definitely help her, she thought.

It took some explaining, but Shiva was finally able to break his alliance with Disha. Just as he walked back out to continue the fireworks, he heard a worried Anita asking Gautam to help her get Raavi out of her room.

“Kya hua Raavi ko?” He rushed to ask.

“Pata nahi, Shiva. Foi ka call aya tha. Unnho ne bolo ki Raavi ne aapne aap ko kamre main lock kar diya hai. Unnko daar lag raha hai ki kahi ussne jo shaadi wale raat kiya tha… Muje bin bohot daar lag raha hai. Woh aaj bol rahi thi ki ussko apne maa ke paas jana hai. Agar ussne kuch ulta seedha kar diya toh?” Panic and concern was evident in Anita’s voice.

Shiva’s heart sped up and his blood ran cold. He had been doing all this for her. He couldn’t lose her now, not when they could have a lifetime of love. He ran to his maami’s house, vaguely aware that Anita and Gautam were following him. They went inside the front door but Shiva knew better. He climbed to her balcony like he had done throughout their entire childhood.

Raavi, with her limited presence of mind, forgot to shut her balcony door allowing Shiva to hop right in. He, once again, saw her broken, shattered. He sighed with relief knowing she was not physically hurt. But he knew all the pain she was going to right now was was because of him. He had to fix it.

“Paagal ho gai kya! Meri jaan nikal di thi” he yelled, letting instincts take over. Anita and Gautam heard him in the room and decided to back off. They knew he would never let anything happen to her.

“Kyu mere liya pareshan ho raha hai? Jaa. Jaa ke uss Dishu ke liya tension le.” She yelled back. Old habits die hard.

“Kyuki main tujse pyaar kata hu!” Okay, so it wasn’t the most romantic of proposals. But he got the point across. They both froze as the absorbed the weight of his words.

“Kyu mazaak kar raha hai, Shiva. Maine tum dono ko saath main dekha woh hi aaj.”

“Arey ghadhedi, main ussko bol raha thi ki Humana divorce nahi hoga toh woh yeh shaadi ke sapne chod de. Kyuki bachpan se le ke aaj tak tu hi hai meri zindagi main.”

Raavi took a step closer to him. “Saach?” She asked with a childlike wonder.

“Muuch,” he replied, closing the distance between their bodies.

“I love you too,” Raavi wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her head on his chest. He reciprocated the hug gently, stroking her back. They both silently thanked Bholenaath for second chances.
