I wrote this one some days back, but I kept feeling it’s not good enough. But I’m still sharing this because why not? We’re all Shivi fans here, any OS, good or bad, will make us happy.
Dhara was getting tired of Shiva-Raavi’s constant fights. She had to do something to bring them closer. Perhaps both of them needed a dose of tough love. That was it! She got an idea. They say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, and it is very true when that man is Shiva Pandya. Shiva loves his food. Dhara smiled and got back to work.
It was lunch time when the entire family gathered in the dining room. Dhara set out plates for everyone and started serving them. She had made pasta today. Everyone was excited to have something different today except one person. After Dhara served her pasta to everyone, she sat down with her own plate.
“Bhabhi mere liye kya banaya hai aapne?” Shiva asked.
“Kya banaya hai matlab? Pasta.”
“Bhabhi main yeh pasta wasta nahi khata. Aur yeh cheese mujhse hajam nahi hota.” Shiva said.
“Ab maine toh yeh pasta hi banaya hai. Khana hai toh khaa warna mat khaa.” Dhara said.
Everyone looked shocked. It was impossible to believe that Dhara hadn’t made anything for Shiva. This has never happened before. Even Shiva was surprised. He had no idea what was happening. Usually when bhabhi made something he didn’t like, she would also make something for him on the side. Today she was saying there was nothing for him.
“Dhara, ek kaam kar, Shiva ke liye noodles bana de. Jaldi ban jayenge.” Gaumbi advised.
“Main thak gayi hu Gaumbi. Mujhse nahi hoga. Agar Shiva ko pasta khana hai toh woh khaye warna na khaye. Main kuch aur nahi banaungi.”
Dhara’s heart broke as she said this. She looked at Shiva and saw he was equally hurt. For a second, she thought of getting up and making something for him, but then she looked at Raavi who was looking shocked by this whole interaction. She had to do this for them.
“Aap mujhse naraz ho kya bhabhi?” Shiva asked.
Raavi’s heart broke when Shiva asked this. She didn’t get why Dhara bhabhi didn’t make anything for him. He was her darling devar, her laadla bachha.
“Main naraz nahi hu Shiva.” Dhara said. “Par main bohot thak gayi hu.”
“Thik hai bhabhi. Aap log khaiyye.” Shiva got up.
“Bhabhi, Shiva kya khayega phir?” Raavi asked.
Dhara smiled. Raavi couldn’t bear to see Shiva sad or hungry, Dhara knew this. Shiva didn’t wait for his Bhabhi’s answer. He went into his room. Gaumbi was about to follow him, but Dhara held his hand and stopped him.
“Raavi, Shiva kya khayega, kya nahi khayega yeh ab sirf meri zimmedari nahi hai.” Dhara said.
Raavi couldn’t believe Dhara was talking like this. She suddenly lost her appetite as she couldn’t stop thinking about Shiva. He was hungry and he was upset because his Dhara bhabhi didn’t make lunch for him. She finally got up, she decided she couldn’t eat if Shiva didn’t eat.
“Bhabhi main Shiva ke liye kuch bana deti hu. Aap log please bura mat manna main aise uthke jaa rahi hu.”
“Thik hai. Jaa.” Dhara smiled.
Her plan worked. Raavi left her own lunch and went to make something for Shiva. She expressed her concern for Shiva, now it was Shiva’s turn. Dhara hoped Shiva would see Raavi’s concern for him and take a step towards her.
Raavi quickly made some lunch for Shiva. She made his favourite methi ke paranthe and aloo ki sabji and went to their room. Shiva was sitting on the bed looking sad. She laid down the plate on the table and tried to get his attention by keeping her hand on his shoulder. To her surprise, he took her hand, kissed it and held it tightly.
“Mujhe pata tha aap mujhe bhookha nahi rehne dogi bhabhi.”
“Bhabhi nahi. Main.” Raavi said.
Shiva left her hand and looked back. He was surprised to see Raavi there.
“Maine tere liye methi ke paranthe aur aloo ki sabji banayi hai.”
“Nahi chahiye.”
“Dekh Shiva, mujhe pata hai main Dhara bhabhi jitna achha khana nahi bana sakti. Par jab aadmi ko bhook lagti hai toh woh karela bhi khaa leta hai. Tu bhi chup chap khaa le.”
“Ae mami ki behen ki beti, kaha na nahi khana.” Shiva said.
“Maine apna lunch chodke tere liye khana banaya aur tu keh raha hai tu nahi khayega.”
“Tune khana nahi khaya?” Shiva asked.
Raavi shook her head. Shiva couldn’t understand why she would leave her lunch and cook for him? Why would she even care if he ate or not? He looked at her food suspiciously. Did she mix poison in his food?
“Zeher nahi milaya hai.” Raavi said, reading his mind.
He was too hungry to argue with her so he took a bite. Perhaps it was just his hunger, but it was the best methi ka parantha he ever had. He found his chipkali wife looking at him in anticipation.
“Thik bana hai.” Shiva said.
Raavi gave her biggest smile. Shiva’s thik hai for her meant that he loved it. He continued eating and now Raavi felt her stomach growling. What a selfish man! She just told him she hadn’t eaten, and he was going on eating in front of him. She pouted.
“Ghoor kyu rahi hai?”
“Bhook lag rahi hai. Par tu toh share karne se raha. Main khud hi le leti hu.” Raavi took a bite from his plate.
“Ae chipkali, Rishita kab se ban gayi tu? Ek plate se khana.”
“Jabse maine apna khana chodke tere liye khana banaya.” Raavi said. “Tujhe mujhe thank you bolna chahiye aur tu mujhe attitude dikha raha hai.”
“Maine kaha tha mere liye khana banane ko?”
“Tujhe bhookha chodke main kaise khaa sakti hu?”
Raavi realised what she just said. Both of them simply stared at each other. Shiva’s heart melted hearing her say it, and Raavi looked down in embarrassment.
“Chal thik hai. Par teen paranthe hum dono ke liye kaafi nahi hai.” Shiva said.
Raavi’s face lightened up. “Arrey maine 7 paranthe banaye hai. Kaafi hai.”
Then they sat on the bed and ate together from the same plate. Dhara looked at the scene from the door secretly. Her plan had worked. She quickly went back to the living room, leaving the couple alone.
