Hello and a warm welcome to you all on the Featured Fiction of the Month Thread!!!
Imagination is a limitless, untamed river, ebbing and flowing through our minds, untethered and uncontrolled.
It takes creativity, talent, skill and a great deal of hard work to harness its potential, imbue it with evocative imagery, and weave into it a tapestry of vivid language, creating a rich, colourful canvas that captures hearts.
Writers are that unique breed of artists that possess this ability in abundance and hone their skills to provide hours and hours of ceaseless entertainment to readers that seek it.
We, therefore, believe that writers should be applauded and celebrated for their enviable skills, and it is our endeavour to promote their exemplary work so that it reaches a wider audience and brings them the love and recognition they rightfully deserve.
Each month, the FF development team selects two exceptional stories to be showcased throughout the month in the IF Fan Fiction section.
Our selection is based on aspects of good writing such as grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, ease of understanding, the flow of narration, creativity etc. of the works submitted. The popularity of the story or the number of reviews/likes are not paramount in our selection since our goal is to focus on quality.
Considering all the entries submitted since January 2021, we have selected two outstanding stories to be featured in May.

First Featured FF May 2021

Synopsis:
The story is about Ishaani and Ranveer - two childhood friends who are quite different but always stand by each other. Ranveer has loved Ishaani since they were kids but Ishaani fell in love with him after their marriage. When Ishaani’s ex tries to harm Ranveer and gets killed in an accident, Ishaani takes the blame and fake hates Ranveer so that he can move on. But when the actual culprit is revealed, she stabs Ishaani and leaves her to die.
The story is about the final moments of Ishaani's life when she recalls all their past moments, their confession, how she broke Ranveer’s heart and how he still tried to win her back but failed. So in her last moments, she prays for him to get the happiness he deserves and wishes they could unite in some other lifetime.
Meet Nushrat
Nushrat enjoys interactions and discussions with people about anything under the sun and this is what prompted her to join India Forums. Even when she's not actively participating in a discussion, she likes reading other people's views and analyses on shows and characters.
Nushrat was frustrated by the writing on the show, Bhootu and found that reimagining her own track helped her get closure. This became her primary motivation for writing - to change how a particular track could have been handled on a show, or when a particular character is being painted as one-dimensional and she felt her writing could help bring out the layers to the character.
Nushrat writes particularly on couples from the shows Bhootu, Nazar and Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi. She does not have a favourite genre to write or to read but isn't much into thriller or detective stories.
Suchitra Bhattacharya, Samaresh Majumdar and Humayun Ahmed are her favourite authors. Her hobby, other than writing and reading, is nature photography.

Synopsis:
Antara was married to MJ soon after their college ended. She watched and supported him as he became the business tycoon Mritunjay Roy. Her life was picture perfect, every woman's dream. But one day comes in lies, wrong choices and just about everything that could wreck her beautiful world to pieces.
Meet Shibani
Shibani is an Engineering student and has been on IF for about 6 years now. She joined IF just to read Nisha-Kabir (Nisha aur Uske Cousins) and Jodha-Akbar (Jodha-Akbar) fanfictions that were members only. The amazing people she met on these forums have kept her hooked on here. Shibani is also a valued and active member of the FF development team, and has recently been promoted to 'Skipper' of the Beta Readers!
Shibani's mother is a beautiful writer, and when younger, she trained her to write stories and essays. She wrote her first fan fiction on Nisha-Kabir and her sister beta-read the story and pushed her to improve her writing skills. Shibani also reads stories by other writers on IF and AO3 to seek inspiration.
She writes most often on Nisha-Kabir, Maya-Rudra (Beyhadh 2), Avni-Neil (Naamkaran), Kartik-Aman (Shubh Mangal Zyaada Savdhaan)
Shibani likes writing romance and comedy but loves to read fantasies, satires and mysteries.
Her favourite authors are Ruskin Bond, J.K. Rowling, Amish Tripathi, Agatha Christie and Vikram Seth.
When she's not reading/writing, you can catch Shibani watching movies and web shows on Netflix. She's also a huge cricket fan, so she's glued to cricket matches if her schedule isn't tight. She also tries to improve her editing skills when time permits.
