Jagat Seth: The Khurafaati Gunda

Through the journey of this show, we have seen Jagat and his minions cause a lot of chaos to get Kaatelal and Sons so that they can build a complex in Haathi Bazaar. Jagat Seth is introduced to us as someone who started off doing a PhD with his thesis on potatoes which you can eat without rotis, and was rusticated by the university, but he wants to seem educated so ensures he and his minions address him as Jagat Seth PhD. While it is fun to see Satbir and Ompal getting one-upped by the girls and their alternate selves (Gunnu/Sattu), Jagat's plans are not that easy to overtake. The first one was actually a close save by Puttu, who captured the video at the right moment, coz Dharmpal and his family (barring Susheela) were actually onboard with the girls getting married to Tarun (windmill guy) and Varun (dairy farm guy). Then, Dharampal's accident was extremely tragic to witness even as a viewer. The helplessness with which he tried to use his hand and prove himself worthy enough to manage the household in the hospital and at home are the most heartbreaking scenes ever. The moment he heard the shutter is up, he ran to the shop to see two girls standing there and he tried to dismiss them as not being true heirs. The ferociousness and determination in their eyes when they challenged him on the two consecutive days also did not bother him, since he did not see them as a threat.

When Jagat saw Puttu was going to be handling the shop, he was amused, but set up his minions Satbir and Ompal to keep an eye on K&S and ensure they do not get customers. Seeing Gunnu and Sattu enter the shop and also attempt to earn some decent money, he tried to first buy their talent, because he obviously does not know they are actually Dharmpal's daughters - Garima and Susheela, then he tried to dig deep and expose them not to be Rameshwar's sons and in an affair with the daughters. When informing that did not deter Dharmpal and he announced the wedding, Jagat tried  to break it with the help of the fake parents. When that did not work, he tried to get Sattu kidnapped and defamed with the fake letter. Garima-Susheela and Puttu have been disheartened with all these adversities, yet kept hope, smartly encountered each of these tricks without their identity (Gunnu/Sattu = Garima/Susheela) being revealed and proved themselves capable enough to take on the responsibility of K&S. One worth mentioning which was unintentionally managed was the takeover of Avtar's shop, which was later handed over to Vikram and he did take the right decision of retaining a partnership with Avtar in the mix on Gunnu's insistence - otherwise it was going to be rented out. Now with the girls waging an open war against him, he has gotten even more persistent in taking revenge from Dharmpal, for which he has sent that guy in the house to steal the money. Seems like this blame will be put on the brothers, which is the premise of the promo we saw wherein Susheela packs up and leaves the house as Sattu to meet Hooda, and Gunnu is brought to Dharmpal in handcuffs.

Now that it is no secret to us that he is infact Vikram's brother, and does love and care for him atleast at the basic level, I wonder how he has been brought up so differently, wherein he thinks doing all of these disgraceful things as well as indirectly using his brother to further his motive is acceptable? Also, how far can he go to get K&S, since he has already crossed most lines of humanity to do so? Vikram is blindly idolising and supporting the version of his brother he thinks is real, which will be the root of conflict with not just his beloved Gunnu/Garima + the Ruhils, but the entire Haathi Bazaar community once they know he is Jagat's bro.

Hi Aayushi this side ,

Well I completely agree with your post.  However jagat seth being only villain is getting much advantages to torture the twin. The twin main villain is not their father but this jagat . He is now trying to defame girls in the society which is really bad . The twin are already doing so much  ,the age where girls are at they should be focusing on their lives but they are taking care of the entire Ruhail family !

I feel bad sometimes for the twin , the amount of hatred and loveless life they are living with so many twist there life has ended when they sacrifice their hair , their education and most importantly their dreams ! Even as a males this jagat is not sparing them .

Well I am looking forward how vikram will do when he will get to know about his real motives ! Also he will be failed in every attempt because he is always in benefit of doubt kind of person in every eye ! His every move is monitor and understand by the people .

Yes, that is the premise of the show, that Jagat Seth is the main antagonist, whose plans lead to Garima-Susheela temporarily disguising themselves as boys to takeover K&S and prove themselves as fair heirs. He gets an edge over them because that is exactly how it is in real life too, those with influence are able to command the situation while the others who do not learn with times fall behind. From episode 1 to 5, it was really amazing to watch how DP commanded so much respect in Haathi Bazaar that Jagat had to flee when the shopkeepers gave a day's pay to fend off Avtar's monthly instalment. DP was such an adversary to Jagat trying to redevelop the area, that he had no option but to resort to such means such as an accident to get what we wants. DP's girls are also no less, they have risen to the occasion and are giving him takkar ka competition.

The twins are indeed making a sacrifice and taking the risk of choosing this over college and love, and now that they are taking turns and attending lectures, hopefully their attendance and assignments will get done on time. Wish that aspect was explored more in the show but since the focus is the K&S saloon, we will get more scenes pertaining to that place. Vikram's case is complicated, he can see that the HB people + DP are not fond of Jagat Seth and wants to know why, but noone is willing to tell him the truth so he is also looking at the situation with a biased lens coz his brother loves him a lot. Hope he finds out about JS at some point in the near future or atleast unintentionally lets Gunnu know he is JS's brother so he can start on that journey of realisation.

P.S What I love is that these girls are also blessed with the ability to be so thoughtful and standing strong for what is right and I'm sure they will get their due when their family, MLs and entire Haathi Bazaar will someday applaud them!

The ferociousness and determination in their eyes when they challenged him on the two consecutive days also did not bother him, since he did not see them as a threat. He definitely lives in somewhat state of a denial about his incomplete PhD and when Garima taunted him the other day about it, it kinda stinged him as a rusticated doctoral student. I think I see his view slightly somewhat to Vikram that he wants validation and upright authority which he does with his minions. I think we have received some backstories as to Jagat's terror in HB for the past 7 years in one of Jagat's dialogue. He doesn't want Vikram to notice his bad side of which Vikram has begun to question about Jagat's image but gets shunned away either by Jagat politely or by DP directly. His aspirations directly impact other shop owners in terms of establishing a mall and trying to affirm his potential clients about the HB property. It's good that you mentioned about him thinking initially about the girls being a thorns in his path. I think now he's not taking them lightly.

Several attempts have been made but to no avail. He has mentioned that he has to think of something. As Ompal and Satbir failed to notice why Susheela had Sattu's clothes, possibly this information could later come in handy to him yet the girls will obviously outsmart him.

Now that it is no secret to us that he is infact Vikram's brother, and does love and care for him atleast at the basic level, I wonder how he has been brought up so differently, wherein he thinks doing all of these disgraceful things as well as indirectly using his brother to further his motive is acceptable? Yeah, it is quite distinct upbringing. I still remember, from the earlier episodes, when Garima threaten him with a razor, he said that the razor doesn't look good in her hands, so it can say a lot as to him also perceiving woman being stereotyped as razor being bad in their hands.

LOL, even the girls scared the crap out of him with the broom.

I feel Vikram could've asked another person besides DP about the animosity towards jagat for some reason. Like probably Avtar or DP's friends. I know it was an almost reveal moment by Garima to Vikram in the shaadi track before Jagat barged in unexpectedly. Probably as Gunnu, she could talk about the Jagat to him more.

Thank you for such a detailed, thought provoking reply!

He definitely lives in somewhat state of a denial about his incomplete PhD and when Garima taunted him the other day about it, it kinda stung him as a rusticated doctoral student. I think I see his view slightly somewhat to Vikram that he wants validation and upright authority which he does with his minions. I think we have received some backstories as to Jagat's terror in HB for the past 7 years in one of Jagat's dialogue. Yepp, accurate! Seems he badly wants to portray himself as being a PhD because that helps him in maintaining that image of being well-educated, and makes him look like he passed in the test of life when he has failed miserably. He had also asked Vikram why he enrolled in college again, maybe Jagat has disappointed his dad and is trying to make amends through this real estate firm and turning Haathi Bazaar into a mall area. He does inevitably stand for development in that sense, and realistically portrays actual builders and people from the industry, but in the context of the show, he is a villain for his intentions to gain K&S and the level to which his corrupted mind goes to get what he wants.

In some sense he likes having his brother think of him as a nice person, because that is a comforting thing to know - someone loves you. The moment Vikram gets exposed to the truth, like he said today, Na main galat kehta, na main galat sehta. He will not stand for his brother and the ideals that Jagat promotes. Yes, the HB shopkeepers know him in and out and that's why they hate him so openly and so much. What is nice about the show is that he is a known threat to them, so they know that they have to keep him in mind and handle the situations accordingly. Hope that someday DP or the minions or the HB people give him a sense of JS's actual truth. That will be a turning point for their brotherly relationship, maybe we will see it somewhat revealed at the century completion of the show. For the girls, yes, he initially thought of them as roses with thorns, but now they are proving themselves to be a cactus and the thorns are making his plans bleed 😆 He will never ever underestimate their prowess and will be noticing them even more closely henceforth. The girls gotta be careful!

Actually, Ayu and I were discussing this earlier that perhaps Jagat can take advantage of Vikram's friendship with Gunnu in terms of obtaining the property as a potential track. Several attempts have been made but to no avail. He has mentioned that he has to think of something. As Ompal and Satbir failed to notice why Susheela had Sattu's clothes, possibly this information could later come in handy to him yet the girls will obviously outsmart him.  I had also mentioned this on the forum I think when I joined, that since Garima will have a 33% stake of K&S (if they divide for each of the trio), it puts the ownership in risk if she is in anyway related to Jagat, even if as a SIL, coz DP will give it to the damaad and it can get easily transferred to JS, though I hope Vikram finds out about him before any of this drama happens. He is looking at the right moment to strike the hot iron and utilize the friendship, but thankfully has not done anything so far in terms of manipulating the situation and jeopardising Vinnu's dil ka connection. I found that part frankly very 🤣  coz even Susheela suspected they might have found out and they came up with such a random theory. Makes sense that they might speak of it and Jagat might pick up the connection, but yes, our Garima-Susheela aint less and will most definitely push this trio into the well of hopelessness!

Yeah, it is quite distinct upbringing. I still remember, from the earlier episodes, when Garima threaten him with a razor, he said that the razor doesn't look good in her hands, so it can say a lot as to him also perceiving woman being stereotyped as razor being bad in their hands. Loved the look on his face, he was ready to leave everything and run but then she gave him nehle pe dehla and the minions literally dragged him away from the scene! What is ironic is that JS and the minions believe in the same things and stereotypes women similar to those in HB and even DP, yet Vikram stands so strongly in front of DP and gives such an applaudable speech about rules and regulations being redundant over time and the need for it to change. Can literally hear this in Chanchal Chachi's voice: Thodi buddhi apne bhaisahab ko bhi dedo betaji 🤣

Yeah, he's scared of DP's authoritative command that forced him to weasel his way out that day. LOL, even the girls scared the crap out of him with the broom.

Basically, except for Puttu, all the Ruhils scare him a lil bit 😆 Remember the reaction of G&S's mom at the shaadi when Sattu was missing from the scene? He was kinda calmly standing, listening and responding when DP was talking but his expressions changed drastically and mouth shut like a goldfish when Kusum! Standing ovation to her for that moment 😍🤗

I feel Vikram could've asked another person besides DP about the animosity towards jagat for some reason. Like probably Avtar or DP's friends. I think they are trying to set it up in a way where Gunnu is the one exposing the truth, so he comes to trust and rely on her more till the point when the Garima is Gunnu reality comes to the fore! Gives them a chance to explore more drama, more intensity in feelings and heartbreak and eventually making it almost impossible for the two to be broken apart once they reconcile coz they stand strong against Jagat!

Indeed, it is a snowballing of the trust factor. Since, he quickly became friends with Gunnu and relies on Gunnu for emotional support/advice. Even the ignorance wala advice is steadily beginning to transition into their relationship dynamics. Let's see. TBH, what's also interesting to note is what is Garima's reaction the moment she finds out about him being related to Jagat. The guy she bonded with has a bond with the one she's already having property-related disputes in regards to the K&S store. How she takes it is also quite relevant to their relationship. At the moment, both haven't exclusively revealed their details to one another & the opposite person hasn't also asked about it explicitly so I'm liking this part too.

It will definitely not be an easy pill to swallow for both of them. Let us see their buildup

@Underline: The biggest conflict in their future will be exactly this - the rivalry between Kaatelal & Sons (Daughters) and Jagat Seth + the reality of Garima/Gunnu being the same person. They have to save the K&S legacy from falling into the wrong hands and also simultaneously save their relationship in front of both the families.
