They make it with smaller stars because they can't afford to pay all the big stars money. They charge quite a bit.
Also in comedy you still see multiple "stars"
Looks like budget is the issue
Nobody wants to play the second fiddle π
And nobody wants to be overshadowed by some1 who got less screen time and still overshadowed π
Sooryavanshi is a multistarrerπ, but it has different 'grades' of superstars π
They're afraid they'll end up with what Tushar got out of Golmaal.π
On a serious note, I would love to watch a multi-starrer drama with SRK and Shahid with two actresses alongside them.

Rohit shetty told the magazine, "No, the Ram Lakhan remake is not happening. Two stars don't want to work together, they just want to promote each other's films. This young lot, they will tweet for each other, but they will not work with each other."
Rohit added, "The last lot to work together is Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar or Abhishek Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan. But the new lot won't work with each other, I don't know why they are insecure of each other? So, now we have just kept it aside.
Kalank was a HUGE multistarrer,Takht will be a humongous multistarrer.
Dharma is showing the way!
1. Expense
2. Ego/insecurity
3. There are simply no good stories.
Cos of ego . When movies like Andaz Apna Apna, Karan Arjun or Mohra were made , the Khans and Akki/Ajay were not that big stars
