CHAPTER 23
SAMEER...
Two weeks had passed by & we kept working hard. The pressure wasn't as much as the last time as our friends were helping us this time. We left the office on our usual time & went back home to work on our original presentation.
Each one of us kept a close eye on the people around us to check if something was wrong. But in these past two weeks, there was nothing suspicious which wasn't a surprise for me, this is what I had expected & I knew what was about to happen ahead. I was mentally prepared this time & I had already done some arrangements in office that I would know what was happening in our absence.
It was Saturday today & we had decided to stay home & finish our original presentation. Our friends too joined us since morning & we continued doing the hard work that was needed at this point of time. Nanu & Maa had gone to some relative's place for some pooja. It was only six of us in the house.
It was after lunch when we were done, we decided to take a break & relax. We sat in the living room, devouring our favorite Choco chips ice-creams. "Sameer... Tujhe kuch pataa chala ab tak?" I knew what Munna was referring to. "Ab tak toh nahi. Bas ek aaj ka din bacha hai, dekhte hai hum unn logon ko pakad paate hai yaa nahi."
Naina looked worried, "Sameer... Hume jald hi pataa lagaana hoga, warna hamari hi aankhon ke saamne hum waapis hamara khud ko banaaya hua presentation dekhenge kal ki party mein." I smiled sensing her concern, "Hume yahi karna hai Naina... Hamara banaaya hua presentation hi Kartik uss party mein present karega. Par jo last time hua waise iss baar nahi hoga, tab hum dekhna chaahte the ki kya chal raha hai, tab hume sirf shak tha, aur ab, hume pataa hai ki Kartik ne hamara presentation churaaya tha, aur shaayad iss baar bhi wohi ho aur hona bhi chahiye. Bas farak yeh hoga ki jo presentation Kartik wahaan dikhaayega, usse wohh yeh partnership kabhi jeet nahi paayega."
Everyone looked at me curiously waiting for my further explanation & I continued, "Maine uss presentation ko last moment mein sab figures change kar dunga, jisse wohh jeet hi na paaye. Agar dimaag hoga toh samaj jaayega aur nahi toh wohi galat presentation sabke saamne rakhega. Choice uski hi hai, jo karna hai ab wohh Kartik hi karega, hum kuch nahi karenge. Yeh partnership wohh uski bewakoofi se hi gawaayega. Dekh lena..."
Everyone was amused, Naina asked, "Sameer... Agar usne tumhari galtiyaan dekhkar sudhaar li toh... Fir kya karenge..." I smiled mischievously, "Main jahaan tak Kartik ko jaanta hun, wohh aisa kuch nahi karega. Yaad hai maine last time usse hamare presentation churaane ke baare mein kuch nahi kahaa... Pataa hai kyun???"
Pandit replied, "Haan yaar... Tune tab kuch react hi nahi kiya tha. Tabhi hume bhi thoda ajeeb lagaa tha par humne kuch kahaa nahi." I continued, "Main nahi chaahta tha ki usse pataa chale ki hum ab se uss par aur hamari company mein sab par nazar rakhne waale hai. Kartik itna bewakoof nahi hai ki usse samaj nahi aaya hoga ki hamara presentation uss screen par dekhne ke baad bhi humne react nahi kiya. Wohh aur bhi chaukanna ho gaya hoga ab. Bhale hi maine kuch react nahi kiya uss time, par usse itna toh pataa chal gaya hoga ki hume uski cheating ka pataa chal chuka hai. Ab Kartik jo bhi karega, soch samajkar karega."
"Toh tumhe aisa kyun lagta hai ki Kartik firse hamara presentation churaayega?", Naina asked frowning a little. "Naina... Kyunki usse pataa hai ki humse accha presentation wohh kabhi nahi banaa paayega. Wohh waapis wohi karega jo pehle kiya tha, bas iss baar wohh kaise churaata hai, mujhe wohi dekhna hai. Infact main khud chaahta hun ki wohh aisa kuch kare, taaki hume uss shaks ka bhi pataa chal jaaye, jo yeh sab hamare naak ke neeche kar raha hai."
I was playing a big gamble here risking my own company this time, but I was left with no other option. I had to do this, I had to catch the person red-handed. And for that I wanted them to make a mistake & for that, I had a plan. I told my plan to the others who listened quietly & agreed to take it forward.
I made a call, "Hello... Kartik aaj shaam kahaan jaanewala hai, mujhe iske sab details thodi der mein chahiye." We went back to our work & after an hour, I got a message about his whereabouts. It was evening time when Nanu & Maa came back & we were getting ready to leave towards the mall, where Kartik was shopping with his girlfriend.
We reached the mall in the next twenty minutes & started our search in different directions. After ten minutes, I got a call from Munna saying that he saw Kartik & Sunaina in a café. I & Naina walked towards that café hand in hand & our friends followed us inside. Sunaina saw us first & called out, "Hey... Sameer... It's good to see you after a long time."
I chuckled, "Hum do week pehle hi toh mile the, itna jaldi bhool gayi Sunaina?" She too chuckled, "Sorry, wohh tumhe dekhkar main itna excite ho gayi ki mooh se nikal gaya. Waise batao kaise hai tum?" I felt Naina's hand squeezing mine tightly & I could feel that she was probably getting jealous.
I left her hand & wrapped my hand around her waist. I blinked my eyes in assurance looking at her. I turned to Sunaina, "Main toh bilkul thik hun. Tum batao, tum kaisi ho aur tumhare Nanaji kaise hai? Unhe hospital se discharge kar diya kya? Wohh actually Nanu ko jaanna tha, isliye pooch raha hun." I don't know why I was blabbering the explanation, maybe I was scared of the girl who was standing wrapped in my hold.
Sunaina continued, "Main toh ekdum khush hun Sameer. Aur Nanaji ko kal hospital se discharge karne waale hai, toh tum apne Nanaji ko bataa dena. Thik hai." I smiled in response, when I heard my better half speaking up, "Toh Kartik... Aaj tumne maun vrat dhaaran kiya hai kya? Kabse kuch bol hi nahi rahe yaa fir humse baat karne se darr lag raha hai, huh???
I wanted to pat her for her witty question, but I controlled myself & looked at Kartik, "Rehne do na Naina... Bechaare ko tension ho raha hoga ki kal party mein hume Mr Vijay Mittal ko hamare presentations jo dikhaane hai. Kyun Kartik, tumhe darr lag raha hai na ki kahin tum mere saamne yeh partnership haar jaaoge? Pehle kitna confidence... nahi nahi... overconfidence tha na tumhe ki yeh partnership tumhari hogi. Par jabse tumhe pataa chala hai ki tumhe mere saamne dusra presentation banana hai tab se tumhari havaaiyaan udd gayi hai. Kya hua hai Kartik? Where's that confidence... oops... that overconfidence mhan...?"
Kartik smiled smugly at us, "Waahhh Sameer... Tum toh ab bolna bhi seekh gaye. Dekh raha hun jab se Naina tumhari zindagi mein aayi hai tumhara confidence badhte hi jaa raha hai." He turned to Naina, "Maanna padega Naina... tum Sameer ke liye ek lucky charm ho. Warna Sameer ka koi chance hi nahi tha mere saamne jeetne ka." His gaze lingering on her for some more time & I stepped ahead to shield her from his creepy gaze.
"Chalo Naina... hum aaj party karte hai, finally hamara presentation bhi ready ho gaya hai aur quotation bhi. So, we should enjoy ourselves tonight. Waise bhi Kartik ko dekhkar lag raha hai ki uski ab tak koi tayaari nahi hui hai, kyun Kartik???" He looked stunned hearing our revelation & smirked, "That's good to hear... Enjoy yourselves & see you tomorrow at the party Sameer... Tumhe haarte hue dekhne ka bohot mazaa aayega."
I too smiled, "Wohh toh kal dekhenge Mr Kartik Singhania... All the best..." I turned to Sunaina, "Bye... Apne Nanaji ka khayaal rakhna." She bid us goodbye & joined Kartik on their table while we sat three tables away from them in the same café. Even if we sat away from them, still I could see Kartik messaging someone on his phone & calling relentlessly.
Our plan had definitely worked & made Kartik anxious. That was exactly what we had planned to do & I was content seeing him worried. I wanted him to make a mistake to give us a chance to find out who was leaking all our company details to him & I think it was working now.
We placed our orders & kept chatting. I kept my gaze fixed on Kartik. After few minutes, I saw him going out of the café, his phone stuck to his ear & he was shouting on the other person. I quietly escaped from the other door & followed him. He entered the fire-exit door & I stood outside it hearing his conversation.
"Tumne mujhe kyun nahi bataaya ki Sameer ne presentation aur quotation ready kar diya hai? How dare you keep such important news away from me? You are bloody getting paid for this job & you have a decency to hide such an important thing from me, from Kartik Singhania."
He took a pause to hear the person speaking from the other end & then blasted again, "Mujhe kuch bahaane nahi sunne hai tumhare. Mujhe aaj raat tak sab information chahiye aur jald se jald mujhe wohhh presentation aur quotation ki copies chahiye pen drive mein... Do you hear that???"
After disconnecting the call, he mumbled to himself, "Ek kaam dhang se nahi kar paate log. Ek baar yeh kaam ho jaaye fir dekhta hun usse." He was about to open the door & I hid myself behind the wall that led to the washrooms. I was stunned to hear whatever I heard. Till now, I was just making judgements of his plans but this... this was the reality check for me.
Someone was sharing our presentation & quotation details with Kartik & now it was confirmed from what I heard few moments back. I entered the café from the backdoor again & settled myself. I saw that Kartik & Sunaina were nowhere to be seen. So, I told others that we should head back home.
Once home, I told them about the conversation Kartik was having on his call with someone from our company. They were shocked. Nanu spoke, "Sameer... agar tu jo keh raha hai wohh sach hai toh hume jaldi se kuch karna hoga. Ab toh sirf Kartik ne tumhare presentation aur quotation ki hi baat ki hai, kal uthkar wohh kuch aur bhi nuksaan kar sakta hai Sameer. Tum sabne itni mehnat se Maheshwari Industries ko itne oonche mukaam tak laaye ho, Kartik jaise log isse nahi tod sakte. Sameer jo bhi karna hai jaldi kar."
Our friends too had the same point of view & I knew that too. I told them to be quiet & went back to my room to bring my laptop. When I connected it to the cctv cameras that I had installed in everyone's cabins, everyone around me was shocked.
"Sameer... tune yeh sab kab kiya, hume pataa hi nahi tha ki hamare cabins mein cctv camera hai?", Munna asked curiously. I replied, "Jab maine uss Monday meeting ke liye sab head of the departments ko bulaaya tha, tab hi maine yeh cameras lagwa diye the, taaki kisiko kuch khabar na ho. Isse hum sab par acche se nazar rakh paayenge."
"Barkhurdaar... tu toh humse bhi do kadam aage nikla, itna kuch kar diya aur hume bhi bhanak nahi lagi. Bacchon... Mujhe aisa kyun lag raha hai jaise Sameer ko pataa hai yeh sab kaun kar raha hai, bas isse sirf tasaali karni hai ki iska shak sahi hai ya nahi. Kyun Sameer... Main sach keh raha hun na???"
My Nanu knew me too well. I just smiled & nodded, "Sahi kahaa Nanu... Mujhe shak toh bohot pehle se hai, bas dekhna hai ki kya mera shak sahi bhi hai yaa nahi. Aur agar mera shak sahi nikla toh main uss insaan ko chodunga nahi. I promise I'm going to make that person's life hell for sure."
Naina hesitated, "Tumne hum sabko kyun nahi bataaya Sameer? Hum bhi uss insaan par jyada dhyaan rakhte, uski har harkat par hamari bhi nazar rehti." I knew she was hurt that I didn't even share this with her. I looked at her painful eyes & realized that I've hurt her immensely.
"Naina... Agar main tum sabko bataa deta, toh tum uske saath acche se behave nahi karte, jo main nahi chaahta tha. Agar uss insaan ko zara bhi shak ho jaata toh hume uske khilaaf koi saboot nahi milta. Mujhe ek aisa saboot chahiye hai jisse main saabit kar sakun ki wohh insaan kya kar raha hai. Bas ek baar mujhe wohhh evidence mil jaaye, toh fir usse mujhse koi nahi bacha paayega."
We went back to my laptop & opened all the recordings that were saved to review. We checked the recordings of all the cctv cameras but didn't find anything suspicious. I spoke, "Hume sabse jyada mere cabin ke cctv camera pe focus karna chahiye, kyunki presentation mere computer pe saved hai aur quotation bhi."
"Par Sameer agar koi tumhare peeth peeche tere cabin mein gaya toh hume kaise pataa chalega?" I replied, "Pandit... Mujhe pataa chal jaayega. Maine mere computer mein ek software install kiya hai, jisse jab bhi koi bhi usse onn karega, mujhe ek notification aayega, jisse mujhe pataa chalta hai ki mere peeche kaun mera computer use kar raha hai."
(I don't know if there is any such software, I've just used my creative mind...😜)
Naina asked, "Yeh sab bhi tumne Monday ko hi kiya tha?" I rubbed my neck nervously, "Haannn... Tum jaanti ho aur samaj sakti ho ki yeh sab karna bohot important tha. Bhale hi humne fake wala presentation aur quotation uss computer par save kiye hai par hume uss cheater ko bhi toh pakadna hai. Mere paas aur koi option hi nahi tha."
She agreed, "Tumne jo bhi kuch wohh sahi kiya Sameer. Aur ek baat sahi kahi tumne ki agar tumne hume uss insaan ke baare mein bataa diya hota toh hum kuch na kuch aisa keh hi dete jisse wohh alert ho jaata aur tumhara plan almost flop ho jaata." Everyone chuckled understanding why I didn't disclose this to them.
After dinner, we all sat down to relish the dessert of gajar halwa when I got notification on my mobile. I instantly connected my laptop to the cctv camera in my cabin while the others surrounded me to see what I was doing. The scene that appeared on my laptop screen was a total shock for the others while I was happy that my doubt was now confirmed.
I saw that the recording was on which would happen to be the evidence I wanted so desperately. Naina almost shrieked, "Yeh... yehh... isse toh main chodungi nahi..." I pulled her beside me & spoke softly, "Naina... Shant ho jao... main jaanta hun sabse jyada tumhe hi shock lagaa hai. Naina... meri taraf dekho."
I could see her misty eyes & I hugged her, "Ssshhhh... Main hun na... Mujhpar bharosa hai na tumhe, kuch nahi hoga. Main sab thik kar dunga. Aur isse toh hum acche se sabak sikhaayenge kal party mein. Naina... isse message karo ki isse hamare saath kal party mein aana hai. I want this person there in the party tomorrow."
Naina instantly sent a message to that person who was appearing on my laptop & when that person removed the mobile to read the message while copying the presentation & quotation from my computer, Naina was cursing that person throughout, "Yeh hamari aankhon ke saamne hamara presentation aur quotation chura raha hai aur hum kuch nahi kar paa rahe Sameer..."
I knew she was very much upset with that person & I'm sure everyone was. We saw the person shutting down my computer after everything that was needed was copied in the pen-drive. As the person left my cabin, I switched to the recording of the cctv camera at the entrance of our company.
As expected, a car stopped right in front of the entrance & that person handed over the pen drive to Kartik, who handed over a bag in return, maybe it was the payment promised for stealing our presentation. That person waited for some more time & then we were shocked to see what we saw again on the screen in front of us. This couldn't be???
I controlled my anger, my palms turning to fists immediately. Naina too was outraged while the others cursed everything. This wasn't what I had expected & now it was really hard to control my rage. I hadn't thought about this. I instantly messaged someone to find the relationship between the two people on the screen & let me know by tomorrow morning itself.
It was a struggle for us to not strangle those people who had cheated on us right now. But I knew what had to be done. I called up Vijay uncle & told him what we had found out till now. "Uncle... maine hamara fake waala presentation aur quotation aapko aaj subah hi forward kar diye the. Ab aapko pataa hai na aapko aage kya karna hai."
"Don't worry Sameer... Main sab dekh lunga. Tum bilkul chinta mat karo. Kal party mein bohot se parde uthenge. Tum sab ko lekar time par aa jaana. Baaki sab main dekh lunga. Thik hai..." Nanu & Maa retired to their rooms while my friends went back to their homes. It was already late at night when I & Naina walked back to our rooms.
She halted for a few seconds near my door but then walked off. I knew she was upset & I didn't want her to stay alone. I entered my room & freshened up. I slowly tiptoed to her room & turned the doorknob to find it already open. Did she know that I was going to come to her room tonight?
As I entered, I saw her coming out of her washroom after freshening up & changing into a t-shirt & short pants. This was the first time; I saw her wearing something like this to bed. Till now I had seen her wearing simple cotton kurta pajama at night. But this... this was different. She looked damn cute in this though.
I turned & locked the door first. Taking slow steps towards her, I stopped just a foot away from her, our eyes locked on each other. "Naina... yeh... yeh... tum kabse... I mean tum toh raat ko cotton ka kurta pajama pehenti thi na??? tohh... aaj... yeh... aise... achanak se alag..." I couldn't stop my stuttering while she controlled her laughter.
She stepped ahead closing the distance between us & wrapped her hands around my neck. "Main Canada mein aise hi sone jaati thi, inhi kapdon mein. Bas yahaan aakar thodi aadat badal gayi." I was amazed, "Really??? Aur wohh kyun???" She lowered her eyes & hesitated, "Main nahi chahti thi ki koi mere inn kapdon ki wajah se mujhe judge kare."
I understood what she wanted to say. Without saying anything more, I leaned & claimed her lips, crushing her in my hold. She moaned aloud fueling my desires. We came up for air after few minutes, trying to regain our breathing. I was trying to calm down the sensations that had hit me tonight after seeing her new avatar.
I picked her up in my arms & laid her down on her bed, settling myself besides her. She snuggled in my arm & I pulled her close to my body, feeling content with her presence next to me. I kept stroking her open hair, when she asked, "Sameer... Maine expect nahi kiya tha ki usne yeh sab kiya. Itna bharosa karte the hum usspar, aur usne kuch paison ke liye hamari company ko daav pe lagaa diya, wohh bhi iss tarah."
I knew she was hurt, "Naina... I'm sorry. Maine bhi yeh baat tumse chupaa kar rakkhi. Main tumhe bataa kar tumhe hurt nahi karna chahta tha, wohh bhi tab, jab mere paas koi evidence nahi tha. Main agar tumhe bataa deta toh shaayad tum usse kuch kehti aur hume uske khilaaf kabhi koi saboot nahi milta."
She hummed in response & asked, "Tumhe usspar shak kaise hua Sameer??? Kuch toh aisa hua hoga jisse tumhara dhyaan uss insaan par gaya hoga." I knew if I didn't tell her now, she would be more hurt & even mad at me. I told her everything & she was beyond shocked. "Tum... Tum... yeh kya keh rahe ho Sameer??? Kya sach mein usne tumhari help ki? Mujhe toh ab bhi yakin nahi ho raha inn sab par."
"Naina... meri taraf dekho." When she met my eyes, I spoke, "Naina... jo bhi hua usse hum rok toh nahi sake par usse kal badal sakte hai aur ab toh hamare paas bohot bada saboot bhi hai. Bas kal party mein main jaisa chahta hun, waise ho jaaye, toh sab thik ho jaayega Naina."
She smiled, "Jaisa tum chaahte ho Sameer, waisa hi hoga? Ab toh mujhe bhi kal ki party ka intezaar hai. Main bhi dekhna chahti hun ki Kartik aur kitna girta hai." I was sure that tomorrow many things were going to be uncovered that too in front all so many people, even media was going to be a part of this. I just hope that everything would go on smoothly as I want without any hindrance.
"Sameer... Jyada mat socho. Ab jo bhi hoga kal dekha jaayega. Main bas bhagwaan se prarthna karti hun ki sab thik se ho jaaye. Ab aankhen band karo aur so jao. Kal party ke liye bohot taiyaariyaan karni hai." She rested her head on my chest & I closed my eyes, "Goodnight Jaan..." "Goodnight Sameer..."
The next day my friends had arrived at my place by lunch time & we were supposed to reach the party venue by seven in the evening. I went through our original presentation & quotation twice before finalizing it. Naina went away with the girls to get ready for the party in her room while I, Munna & Pandit went through our plan for the night.
By six in the evening, we were ready to go to the party. We waited for the girls to come, so that we could leave. Maa & Nanu were ready too. Swati & Preeti joined us downstairs but still there was no trace of my lady love. Munna & Pandit left with Swati & Preeti in their cars, while Maa & Nanu waited for us in our car.
I hollered from the living room, "Naina... Naina... sab taiyaar hokar neeche aa gaye aur chale bhi gaye aur tum ab bhi upar hi ho. Chalo Naina... Late ho raha hai..." I turned around the moment I felt her presence & saw her descending down the stairs wearing a pink shimmer saree which was paired with the same color sleeveless blouse. The long diamond earrings that adorned her ears shone brightly under the lights.
I just couldn't move my gaze away from her. She stood right in front of me enjoying my speechless state. She closed my open mouth & whispered, "Mood band kariye Mr. Maheshwari, warna makkhi ghoos jaayegi andar." My trance broke & without resisting anymore, I pulled her in a warm hug. She too melted in my arms & teased, "Ab late nahi ho raha Sameer?"
I whispered in her ear, "Naina... agar aaj party nahi hoti aur hamara wahaan jaana important na hota toh sach keh raha hun, main abhi tumse shaadi kar leta. Ab aur tumse durr nahi raha jaata Naina... main uss din ka intezaar kar raha hun ki kab tum meri dulhan bannkar mere saath apni poori zindagi guzaarogi, mere paas rahogi hamesha."
She smiled, "Main jaanti hun Sameer ki tum kya feel kar rahe ho aur main bhi uss din ka besabri se intezaar kar rahi hun, jab se main hamesha tumhare saath rahungi." I held her face in my palms & asked, "Ab bhi time hai, soch lo Naina... Kya tumhe meri baahon mein yeh umarqaid ki sazaa manzoor hai, kyunki main tumhe shaadi ke baad ek pal bhi khudse durr nahi jaane dunga?"
She kissed my palm, "Main khud tumhari baahon mein umarqaid rehna chaahti hun Sameer." I looked at her pink luscious lips & somehow resisted the urge to kiss her. Calming myself, I whispered, "I love you Naina..." "I love you too Sameer...", saying that, she hugged me again.
"Mr Maheshwari... Aaj aap bhi iss black suit mein bohot handsome lag rahe hai." I blushed under her gaze & replied, "Aap bhi kuch kam nahi lag rahi honewaali Mrs Maheshwari." She punched me lightly on my chest & spoke, "Ab chalein... Sab hamara party mein intezaar kar rahe honge."
We both left the house hand in hand with a smile plastered on her happy faces to complete our mission tonight of exposing Mr Kartik Singhania & the person who was helping him & cheating out company...

NAINA...
Our friends had already reached Mr. Vijay Mittals's place along with Nanu & Maa while we were on the way. I was a little nervous after all the revelations happened last night. I didn't know what I would do when that person would come face to face with me. I just wish that I could control my expressions & body language in front of that person.
Sameer sensed my nervousness & squeezed my hand slightly bringing me back to reality. "Naina... Itna mat socho... jo bhi hoga wohh accha hi hoga aur hum milkar sab thik kar denge. Main hun na tumhare saath, fir kyun itna nervous ho rahi ho?" "Pataa nahi Sameer... par mujhe thodi ghabraahat si ho rahi hai."
"Naina... tum jitna jyada sochogi utna tumhe hi taklif hogi. Aaj jo bhi hoga usse karna zaruri hai warna hamari tarah dusri company ko bhi nuksaan ho sakta hai. My heart finally calmed down a little & we reached Mr Mittal's house in the next ten minutes. As we entered, we met many known faces on the way. The garden was beautifully decorated. My eyes finally spotted our friends & we made our way towards them. The waiter was beside us within a minute holding a tray full of soft drinks.
We mingled with others while my eyes were searching for the traitor. After few minutes, we approached Mr Vijay Mittal, "Happy Birthday Vijay Sir." I said looking around as many of the office associates were standing surrounding him & it won't look nice to call him Vijay uncle in front of them.
He shook hands with us & then asked us if we are ready with the presentation as we would be the first ones to present it in front of everyone. Sameer replied confidently, "I'm ready Sir. Let me get in touch with the technical people & I would start with my presentation."
Mr Mittal smiled & called out someone who would guide us to the stage & connect our presentation to the big screen that was placed at the corner of the garden. We left with that person & started our preparations with our friends helping us around.
Kartik who was standing with few of his colleagues came to us & remarked, "Arey... tum log kyun sab taiyaari kar rahe ho. Pehle toh humari company presentation denewaali hai, uske baad tumhara turn hai." I just wanted to turn around & slap him square on his face but somehow controlled my anger.
"Tumse kisne kahaa ki tum pehle presentation doge Kartik?", Sameer asked with a smirk. He furrowed his eyebrows when again Sameer asked, "Bolo na??? Tumhe Mr Mittal ne kahaa hai kya ki tum presentation pehle doge?" Kartik looked around to find Mr Mittal when again my better half spoke, "Tum agar Mr Mittal ko dhoond rahe ho toh main tumhe bataa dun, ki unhone hi hume pehle hamara presentation dene ko kahaa hai, isliye toh hum yahaan sab taiyaari kar rahe hai."
I was getting so irritated with Kartik's presence that I couldn't hold onto my anger anymore & exploded, "Mr Kartik Singhania... Could you just move away, you are actually disturbing us here?" The others who were already watching us interact were more interested now. Sameer got hold of my hand & we got back to our work.
After ten minutes we were done & the people gathered around the stage. Our friends, Nanu & Maa stood near us for moral support while Kartik alongwith Sunaina sat in the front row. Mr Mittal went up on stage & took the mike, "Good evening ladies & gentlemen... Main bohot khush hun aaj, ek toh aaj mera birthday hai aur dusra mujhe mere company ke liye naya partner mil jaayega. Toh ab main jyada baat nahi karunga aur Sameer se request karta hun ki wohh apna presentation hume dikhaaye. Naina tum quotation mere assistant ko submit kardo."
I handed over the quotation file to his assistant & joined our friends. Sameer took his place on the stage near the screen & the lights were dimmed. He started explaining each & every slide of our PowerPoint presentation, there were few questions asked by Mr Mittal & also by the other board of directors. Sameer replied them confidently as we had already discussed them earlier.
I could see everyone happy with the way Sameer was putting forth his plans after he would be a partner of Mittal Empire. We had made the plans in the presentation in such a way that it would be beneficial for us as well as the Mittal group. We had kept in mind each & every aspect which would be profitable for everyone. Our main focus was the customers & keeping their needs & expectations in mind, we had made up a solid plan.
And we were happy that everyone was satisfied seeing it. We finished our presentation in an hour. And then Kartik was called upon stage to start with his presentation. All of us settled down in front of the screen to see what Kartik was going to present. I just wished everything would go as Sameer had planned.
The moment Kartik started his presentation, he fumbled looking at the numbers showcased on the screen, even the charts weren't up to the mark. Sameer pressed my hand & I glanced his way to see him smiling. So, he had definitely changed the numbers at the last moment. But what disturbed me more was that how could Kartik not see it before. I'm sure that he must have gone through the whole presentation to prepare himself for tonight. Then how come he couldn't see through such huge mistakes...
Mr Mittal got up & asked, "Kartik... What is all this? Is this some kind of a joke for you? You aren't even able to give the presentation properly. Yeh tumne hi banaaya hai na? Fir yeh sab dekhkar itne hairaan kyun ho rahe ho? Infact, tumhe toh sab mooh zubaani yaad hona chahiye. What is going on huh??? I didn't expect you to be so irresponsible Kartik, especially after the first presentation you gave us."
Kartik glared at us & got down the stage. The lights were switched on & everyone got up from their seats to see what Kartik had to say. We stood a little away watching him who was trying to convince Mr Mittal to give him another chance. All the guests too were watching the scene with sheer interest.
Mr Mittal walked up on stage & announced, "Ladies & gentleman... aap sabne dekha yahaan kya hua toh main apni company, Mittal Empire ki partnership Maheshwari Industries ke saath karna chahunga." The moment he said it, Kartik shouted, "Aap aisa nahi kar sakte Mr Mittal, main keh raha hun na bas thodi gadbad ho gayi hai presentation mein, main abhi change kar deta hun. Aap yeh partnership Sameer ko nahi de sakte, aapko meri hi company ke saath partnership karni chahiye Mr Mittal."
Mr Vijay Mittal glared at him, "Main meri company mein kise partner banaaunga yeh mera faisla hai aur abhi yahaan jo kuch bhi hua wohh sabne dekha, uske bawajood tum chaahte ho ki main tumhari company ke saath partnership karun? Mr Kartik Singhania... main tumhe bewakoof lagta hun ki main apni company ka partner usse banau jo thik se presentation bhi na de paaye? Mera decision ekdum fair hai Kartik aur yahaan khada ek ek insaan mere decision se sehmat hoga. Chahiye toh tum khud pooch lo..."
Kartik turned to his friends from other companies who looked away. No one took a stand for him, no one helped him to convince Mr Mittal for another chance. Kartik couldn't believe that he had lost the most precious partnership which could have saved his company from going bankrupt. His company was running in losses from last few months & so he was desperate to win this partnership.
Kartik turned around searching for us & then finally he caught sight of us. He strode towards us fuming in anger. Before he could say anything, Sameer started, "Kya hua Kartik? Tum toh sahi se apna banaaya hua presentation bhi nahi samjha paaye Mr Mittal ko? Tumne presentation ek baar bhi check nahi kiya tha yahaan aane se pehle???"
Kartik fumed more, "Main jaanta hun yeh sab teri hi wajah se hua hai Sameer. Tune hi kuch gadbad ki hai. Bol kya kiya tune???" Sameer acted innocent, "Main... bhala main kyun yeh sab karunga? Mujhe aur koi kaam nahi hai, jo tere presentation me interest lun." He laughed, "Paagal samjha hai kya mujhe???" Sameer too chuckled, "Uss mein samajne waali kya baat hai?"
Unable to control his anger, Kartik screamed, "Tune cheating ki hai Sameer?" I stood in front of him, "Hum kyun cheating karenge Kartik? Hamara presentation toh sabne dekha yahaan aur sabko pasand bhi aaya. Agar tum apna khud ka banaaya hua presentation hi thik se na de paao toh isme hamari kya galti? Inn sab mein humne kahaan cheating ki? Tumhare aur hamare presentation mein zameen aasmaan ka farak bhi hai, toh fir tum hum par cheating ka ilzaam nahi lagaa sakte Kartik."
"Yeh kya apna banaaya hua, apna banaaya hua presentation lagaa rakhha hai? Mera wala presentation bhi tum dono ne hi banaaya tha naa toh fir itna difference kaise ho sakta hai dono presentations mein? Bolo???" There he had said it & the others were shocked to hear that revelation.
Mr Mittal came ahead & asked, "Mr Kartik Singhania... Yeh kya bol rahe ho tum? Jaante ho iska kya matlab nikalta hai? Yahi ki tumne cheating ki hai aur dono baar tumne Sameer ke presentations churaaye hai." Kartik instantly realized his folly & calmed down, "Mr Mittal... mere kehne ka wohh matlab nahi tha. Wohh... wohhh... main toh yeh keh raha tha ki inhone cheating ki hai."
Mr Mittal walked up on stage again & one more presentation played on the big screen drawing everyone's attention. It was the same fake presentation that Sameer had sent to him the previous morning. Kartik stood rooted to his spot after seeing the same presentation that he had stolen from Sameer's computer.
"Mr Kartik Singhania... Kya yahi aapka banaaya hua presentation hai???", Mr Vijay Mittal asked with a blank face. Kartik didn't know what to reply as he was already in shock. He must be thinking that how come this presentation was available with Mr Mittal. "Tum yahi soch rahe ho na ki yeh mere paas kahaan se aaya Kartik???"
Kartik didn't react at all & sat down on the chair with a thud as his own cheating was out in front of the whole lot of people. Mr Mittal continued, "Yeh presentation mujhe Sameer ne kal subah hi bhej diya tha aur usne kahaa tha mujhe ki yahi presentation tum aaj iss party mein doge. Ab yeh mat kehna ki Sameer ne tumhara presentation churaaya, kyunki uss presentation par Sameer ne har ek slide par apne company ka watermark choda hai, jo tumhare presentation mein bhi dikh raha hai. Tumne Sameer ka presentation churaa toh liya par wohh watermark mitaana bhool gaye Kartik."
Kartik froze at his open declaration that he had cheated. Mr Mittal continued, "Tumne pehli baar bhi yahi galti kar di Kartik aur iss baar bhi. Tumne aur tumhari team ne itni badi galti kaise kar di? Itni important marking tumhare nazar mein kaise nahi aayi? Jab log cheating karte bhi hai toh aise karte hai ki kisiko uska pataa na chale. Aur tum toh cheating bhi thik se nahi kar paaye. Khair chodo. Tum kabhi acche businessman nahi bann paaoge??? Mujhe mere business mein koi cheaters nahi chahiye. Maine tumhe second chance diya tha, kyunki pehli baar mein hi tumhari yeh chori pakdi gayi thi. Hum dekhna chaahte the ki tum dusri baar kya karoge? Sameer ne sahi kahaa, tum sach mein paagal hi ho, jo koi kaam dhang se nahi kar sakte."
"Jab maine tumhari aur Sameer ki company shortlist ki tabhi mujhe kai logon ne tumhari company ka status bataaya aur humne khud sab information bhi nikaali thi. Mujhe pataa hai ki tumhari company almost band hone ke kagaar par hai, toh tum aisa kuch ghatiya kaam zaroor karoge. Isliye hamare log tum par aur tumhari team par nazar rakkhe hue the."
"Aur baaki ki help mujhe Sameer ne kar di. Usse toh pehle se hi pataa tha ki tumne uska presentation churaaya hai, fir bhi usne kuch nahi kiya. Infact yeh dusre presentation ka idea bhi Sameer ka hi tha. Main toh first time mein hi meri company ki partnership Maheshwari Industries ko dena chaahta tha par Sameer ne manaa kar diya. Wohh jaanna chaahta tha ki uski company mein kaun hai jo uski presentation aur quotation churaakar tumhe deta tha. Toh bas main bhi maan gaya aur maine yeh sab naatak kiya."
Sameer walked to the chair where Kartik was sitting, "Ab khud kabool karoge yaa main apne tareeke se ugalwaaun?" Kartik started laughing loudly, confusing us, "Tumhe kya lagta hai Sameer ki tum yeh watermark waali story sunaakar yeh prove kar paaoge ki maine tumhare dono presentations churaaye hai?"
Sameer walked around his chair & chuckled too, "Main tumhare jaise paagal nahi hun Kartik. Mujhe pataa tha ki tum aisa hi kuch bologe. Thik hai. Main abhi yahaan sabke saamne yeh prove kar sakta hun ki tumne hamare banaaye hue presentations aur quotations churaaye hai. Dekhna chaahoge???"
I saw Kartik sweating after hearing Sameer's words & he stammered, "Aisa... aisa... nahi ho sakta... main itna bhi paagal nahi hun ki maine koi saboot choda ho?" Sameer laughed alongwith us. Unable to control myself, I spoke, "Maine tumse bada bewakoof kahin nahi dekha Kartik, jo yahaan sabke saamne yeh bol raha ki hum tumhari chori prove nahi kar paayenge. I hope you know that this is almost like you've accepted your cheating. Zara nazar ghumaakar dekho sabko, tumne sabke saamne yeh confess kar liya ki tumne hamare mehnat se banaaye hue presentations & quotations churaaye hai aur keh rahe ho ki hamare paas koi saboot nahi hai saabit karne ke liye. Mr Kartik Singhania... hamare paas saboot toh hai aur hum yahin sabke saamne sab dikhayenge. Sabko pataa bhi chalna chahiye na ki tumne kaise sab manage kiya aur kisne tumhari help ki."
Sameer continued, "Humne yeh second presentation waala naatak isiliye toh kiya tha taaki hume hamare company ka gaddar mil sake aur wohh hume mil gaya hai..." Sameer turned to Mr Mittal who once again played something on the screen & everyone including Kartik gasped watching the same video clip of the person who was copying the presentation & quotation from Sameer's computer in the pen drive.
Sameer called up someone & after few minutes, we saw the police inspector walking towards us with the main culprit who was being dishonest to our company by stealing & leaking important things to our rivals. When they reached us, I instantly moved ahead & slapped that person with all the strength I could.
"How could you do this with us Kamya??? Maine tumhe apni friend samjhaa aur tum humse hi gaddari kar rahi thi. Kitna bharosa tha hum sabko tum par aur tum... tum hamare bharosa ka aisa faayda uthaaogi, yeh maine kabhi nahi socha tha. Kya kami thi huh? Sameer ne sabse jyada salary package tumhe hi offer kiya hai, tumhare har loan bina kuch pooche sanction kiya hai, company ki har ek cheez tumhe pataa thi. Tum kitne saalon se ho Sameer ki assistant, tab toh tumne aisa kuch nahi kiya, toh ab kyun? Bolo Kamya??? Tumne yeh sab paison ke liye toh nahi kiya hai, yeh hum sab jaante hai kyunki tum khud ek ameer khaandaan se ho. Bolo Kamya... Kyun kiya yeh sab??? Kyun toda hamara vishwas???"
Sameer didn't utter a word but I could see that he was controlling his anger on her. I know how much he was hurt after knowing that Kamya was the one who was giving away our secrets to Kartik. He had trusted her too much. I could see the rage that was turning into a storm in his eyes, but yet he was in control.
Everyone raised questions at her but she remained quiet. She stood in front of us with her lowered head. Even after so much questioning from us she didn't speak up & then Sameer asked the inspector to bring the other person too. This time Kamya looked up & then turned to see Hema being held by a lady police constable.
Hema was one of the girls who was terminated from our company by Sameer. She was the one who had spread the rumors about me in the company. Last night when we saw her with Kamya, we were more than shocked. Sameer had asked his sources to find out the connection between the two girls & this revelation had left us stumped.
"How dare you bring Hema into all this?", Kamya shouted. We didn't answer her & she tried to wiggle out from the lady constable's hold, but wasn't successful. I stood right in front of her & asked again, "Tumne yeh sab kyun kiya Kamya? Kyun???" She looked straight in my eyes & stated, "Yeh sab maine tumhari wajah se kiya hai Naina. Sirf tumhari wajah se..."
I was baffled with her declaration. How could I be the reason for her conspiracy against our company? And what did she mean by I was responsible for all this? I took a step ahead & asked in a firm tone, "Meri wajah se??? Maine kya kiya hai??? Wohh main hi thi jisne sabse pehle tumse dosti ki thi."
She laughed, "Dosti??? Par maine toh tumhe kabhi apna dost nahi maana. Tum jab se company mein aayi thi tab se meri dushman hi ho. Jab tak tum Sameer ki life mein nahi aayi thi, tab tak main khush thi par tumhare aane ke baad sab badal gaya. Sameer ko toh tumhare alaawa kuch aur dikhta hi nahi hai. Jab dekho tab tumhare aage peeche hi ghoomte rehte hai. Jab dekho tab Naina... Naina... Naina..."
"Unhone kisi ladki ko kabhi itna bhaav nahi diya tha jitna tumhe de rahe hai. Tum jaanti bhi nahi ki main Sameer se kitna pyaar karti hun. Maine unki picture ek magazine ke cover par dekhi thi aur tab se mann banaa liya tha ki agar main shaadi karungi toh sirf Sameer se. Isliye maine unke company mein unke assistant ki job ke liye apply kiya, taaki main unke paas reh sakun aur unhe apna pyaar dikha sakun. Par Sameer ne toh kabhi aankh uthaakar nahi dekha mujhe, jab dekho tak sirf kaam, kaam, kaam..."
"Maine fir bhi haar nahi maani, main hamesha unke aas paas hi rehti thi aur ussi mein khush thi kyunki main jaanti thi ki unki life mein koi girlfriend nahi hai. Par jabse tum aayi ho, Sameer badalne lage, tumhare aage peeche ghoomne lage, jo mujhe bilkul bhi accha nahi lag raha tha. Isliye maine tumse dosti ka naatak kiya taaki tumhare paas rehkar sab jaan sakun."
I couldn't believe my ears. I was about to stumble when Sameer caught hold of me from behind & pulled me in his arms. Kamya continued, "Wohhh main hi thi jisne unn teeno ladkiyon ko tumhare baare mein rumors failane ko bola tha. Mujhe lagaa tha ki tum itna sab hone ke baad Sameer se durr ho jaaogi par nahi, tum toh fevicol ki tarah Sameer se chipki rahi aur tumhare pyaar mein Sameer ne unn teeno ladkiyon ko job se nikaal diya, hamari company se baahar phenk diya. Unn teeno ne mere kehne pe sab kiya tha, pataa hai aaj tak mujhe unhe paise dene pad rahe hai kyunki meri wajah se unki job gayi thi."
I was beyond shocked. This girl, whom I called my friend, wanted to ruin my character in front of the whole office. Behind my back, she was conspiring to separate me from Sameer, my love. How could she do this? How did I trust her so much? How could she break Sameer's & my trust?
Sameer stepped in front of me, "Hema se tumhara kya rishta hai Kamya? Tumne yeh toh bataa diya ki tumne Naina ke baare mein office mein rumors spread kiye the, ab yeh bhi bataa do ki Hema tumhari kya lagti hai? Sirf main hi wohh kaaran nahi hun, jiski wajah se tumne itna sab kuch kiya. Toh ab mujhe yeh batao ki Hema tumhari kya lagti hai???"
When Kamya didn't reply, Sameer walked towards Hema & I tagged along with him holding his arm. "Hema... Kamya toh kuch bol nahi rahi hai, toh tum kuch bolna chahogi? Yaa main inn lady constables ko bolun unki tarah se poochne ko? Fir mat kehna ki maine shanti se nahi poocha pehle. I'm giving you two options right now Hema, either you tell me yourself or these constables would make you speak up in their way. So, the choice is yours..."
I could see Hema shivering under the constable's hold. She stuttered, "Wohhh... wohhh... main Kamya ki best friend hun, hum school time se hi saath hain. Usne mujhe Sameer ke baare mein sab bataaya tha aur Kamya ki wajah se hi mujhe bhi Maheshwari Industries mein job mila tha. Main uski best friend toh thi hi par bohot baar usne mujhe aur meri family ko financially bhi support kiya tha, isliye jab Kamya ne mujhe Naina ke khilaaf sab bolne ko kahaa toh main manaa nahi kar paayi. Jab hume Sameer ne job se nikaala toh hume bohot gussa aaya tha, khaaskar Naina par, kyunki yeh sab uski wajah se hi hua tha. Main jaanti thi ki Kamya Sameer se bohot pyaar karti hai aur isliye maine hi Kamya ko ek din Kartik se milne ko kahaa, taaki hum dono ka badla poora ho jaaye."
Kamya continued, "Itna sab kiya humne par tum dono ko alag nahi kar paaye, maine socha agar Sameer nahi mila toh main uski company ko hi tabaah kar deti hun. Main Hema ke saath Kartik se mili aur maine hi tumhare presentations aur quotations churaakar usse diye, jisse Sameer aur Naina sab kuch haar jaaye. Main jaanti thi ki yeh partnership kitni important hai tum dono ke liye aur bas main yahi tum dono se chinna chahti thi, isliye Kartik se haath milaaya. Maine dosti ki aad mein sab pataa lagaana chaha par kuch dinon se maine dekha ki sab apne kaam mein itne busy hai ki kuch bolte hi nahi the office mein. Mujhe iss baar pataa hi nahi chala ki Sameer ne presentation aur quotation ready kar diya hai, wohh toh jab Kartik ne phone karke bataaya tab maine waapis apni pendrive mein sab copy kar liya."
Sameer laughed, "Aur yahin tumne sabse badi galti kar di Kamya. Maine do hafte pehle hi sabke cabins mein aur office ke entrance par CCTV cameras lagaa diye the. Hume bhi sab kal raat hi pataa chal gaya tha. Hume sabse bada shock tab lagaa jab humne Hema ko tumhare saath dekha entrance par."
Sameer turned to Kartik, "Maine jaanbujhkar tujhe uksaaya tha uss din café mein ki mera presentation ready hai. Tune hadbadi mein Kamya ko phone kiya aur fir hume raat tak sab sach pataa chal gaya. Mujhe toh ek hafte pehle hi Kamya par shak ho gaya tha. Bas mujhe koi thos saboot chahiye tha uske khilaaf jo khud tum dono ne mujhe saamne se de diya."
I continued, "Maine sapne mein bhi nahi socha tha ki Kamya tum hamare saath aisa karogi. Kitna bharosa kiya tha maine tum par, infact meri wajah se mere friends bhi tum par bharosa karne lage the. Aaj ke baad kisi ko apna dost banane se pehle main hazaar baar sochungi Kamya. Tum dosti ke naam par dhabba ho, tumne dosti ke naam par Hema ki majboori ka faayda uthaaya aur usse inta ghilona kaam karvaaya. Mera character kharaab karne chali thi tum?"
Kamya shouted, "Toh aur kya karti main huh??? Tum meri aankhon ke saamne mera pyaar chinn rahi thi toh main kya haath par haath dhare rehti. Tumne mujhse Sameer cheena hai toh main aise kaise tumhe jeetne deti. Main... Main Sameer se peechle paanch saalon se pyaar karti hun, aur tumhe yahaan aaye ek saal bhi nahi hua aur mere pyaar ko mujhse chinn liya. Agar tum nahi aati na beech mein , toh aaj Sameer mera hota, sirf Mera..."
Sameer couldn't take anymore & shouted, "Tum isse pyaar kehti ho? Naina ka character kharaab karna, hamari company ki important presentations churaakar hamare rivals ko dena, yeh sab tumne tumhare ego ke liye kiya Kamya. Tumhe koi pyaar vyaar nahi hai mujhse aur agar hota naa toh samaj jaati ki main kitna pyaar karta hun Naina se. Tum mere liye pehle se sirf meri assistant thi. Maine kabhi tumse personal baatein karne ki koshish tak nahi ki kyunki jaanta tha ki tumhe mujhpar crush hai. Dikhta tha tumhari harkaton mein, par main tumhare kaam se khush tha isliye tumhari har harkat ko ignore kiya. Tumne sabse pehle mera hi trust toda hai Kamya aur fir Naina ka."
Sameer held my hand & walked towards Mr Mittal, "Thank you Sir. Agar aap hamari help nahi karte toh pataa nahi meri company kaise bacha paata main." Mr Mittal asked, "Sameer... ab yeh bhi bataa do ki tumhe Kamya par shak kaise hua? Usne kuch toh kiya hoga jisse tumhari nazar mein aayi wohh... Aur Kartik ke presentation mein sab figures aur charts kaise change hue?"
Sameer smiled, "Mujhe kisine bataaya ki wohh Kamya hi hai jisne hamare presentation aur quotation churaaye the pehli baar aur usine Kartik ka presentation bhi kharaab kiya." Munna asked, "Sameer... jaldi bol, kisne bataaya tumhe? Kisne help ki teri?" Pandit chuckled, "Hum toh nahi the bhai? Toh jaldi bol kisne help ki teri?"
A voice came from behind, "MAINE..."

Everyone turned towards the source of the voice who was standing right behind Kartik. Kamya & Hema froze while Kartik's reaction was far beyond shocked. "SUNAINA...", he whispered... She just smiled sweetly at him & walked towards us. She hugged me & Naina together & turned to face them.
"Mr Kartik Singhania... Mujhe dekhkar itna chaunk gaye ki halak se awaaz bhi nahi nikal rahi?" She turned to Kamya & without any warning, she slapped her hard. The impact of that sudden slap made Kamya stumble & she fell down on the ground. Frankly speaking, I hadn't expected Sunaina to slap her but what can I say about my ex-wife.
Hema looked horrified with sudden change of events as she too had never expected her to do this. Kartik came forward & was about to hit his girlfriend but she held his hand strongly before he could touch her cheek. Within a second, she left his hand & slapped him too. I was too stunned to see how this girl had changed & was standing for herself without anyone's help.
"Mr Kartik Singhania... Tumhare yeh gandhe haath mujhse durr hi rakhna tum. Mujhe itni ghinn aa rahi hai na tumse ki main kya bataun." He stood up & before he could take a step towards Sunaina, I stood between them, protecting her. He yelled, "Sunaina... Tum aisa kaise kar sakti ho mere saath? Main tumhara boyfriend hun, tum jaanti ho na ki main tumse kitna pyaar karta hun? Fir tumne aisa kyun kiya mere saath Sunaina? Bolo..."
Sunaina stood by my side & laughed, "Boyfriend??? Kaun boyfriend??? Tum... tum khud ko mera boyfriend keh rahe ho? Really???" He looked confused at the way Sunaina was behaving with him. He tried again, "Dekho Sunaina... Tum meri girlfriend ho aur main tumse bohot pyaar karta hun. Jaise hi mujhe yeh partnership mil jaati, main tumhe shaadi ke liye propose karnewala tha. Main sach keh raha hun Sunaina, please mera yakeen karo."
Sunaina laughed again, confusing him furthermore, "Pyaar... Tum mujhse pyaar karte ho? Mujhse shaadi karna chaahte ho? Par tumhari harkaton se mujhe aisa nahi lagaa. Infact, accha hi hua ki sahi time par mujhe tumhari asliyat nazar aa gayi warna shaayad tumhari har baat par yakeen kar leti main, jaise peechle kuch time se karti aa rahi hun."
Kartik fumbled for words, "Kya... kya bakwaas kar rahi ho Sunaina? Kaunsi asliyat ki baat kar rahi ho tum?" She took a step ahead & pulled Hema in front of him, "Iss asliyat ki baat kar rahi hun main..." And he froze. Hema lowered her head in front of us while Kartik sweated badly. What was going on? I & Naina shared a look as we didn't understand what Sunaina was talking about? She hadn't told me anything about this.
Sunaina continued, "Tumhe kya lagaa Kartik ki mujhe kabhi kuch pataa nahi chalega? Main tumhe andhi nazar aa rahi hun kya? Mujhe sab acche se dikhaayi de raha hai peechle kuch dinon se, par main chup rahi kyunki dekhna chahti ki tum aage aur kya kya karte ho. Mujhe tumse jyada khudpar sharam aa rahi hai ki maine itne saalon se tumhara saath diya, tumhari baaton mein aati rahi aur apni zindagi barbaad karti rahi."
Mr Vijay Mittal asked, "Sunaina... Aisa kya hua ki tumhe Kartik par se bharosa uth gaya? Tum dono kitne bohot time se saath ho, fir achanak kya hua?" Before she could reply, Kartik held her hand & dragged her, "Hum aapas mein baat kar lenge, yahaan sab ke saamne tamasha karne ki zarurat nahi hai."
But Sunaina wasn't the weak girl as she was before. She stopped him & jerked her hand away from his hold. "Kartik... Ab aapas mein baat karne jaisa kuch bacha hi nahi hai. Ab jo bhi hoga, wohh yahin hoga, sab ke saamne." Before he could do anything, Munna & Pandit held him from behind.
"Chodo mujhe... Munna... Pandit... tum jaante nahi main kaun hun?" Munna replied, "Haannn... haaannnn... hum bohot acche se jaante hai ki tu kaun hai aur ab toh sab tujhe acche se jaanne lage hai. Tu chup chaap khada reh, warna jis tango par tu khada hai na usse hume todne mein do second bhi nahi lagenge." Pandit continued, "Jyada hil mat ab warna jo Munna ne abhi kahaa usse sach karne mein hume jyada der nahi lagegi."
Kartik pleaded, "Sunaina... Please... yahaan se chalte hai aur ghar jaakar shanti se sab suljha lenge." Sunaina shrieked, "Main tumhare saath kahin nahi jaa rahi Kartik. Mujhe tumhare saath ab rehna hi nahi hai."
She turned to Mr Vijay Mittal, "Main sab bataati hun... Main Kartik ko bohot saalon se jaanti hun Vijay Sir aur fir meri shaadi zabardasti Sameer se ho gayi. Main shaadi karna hi nahi chaahti thi, isliye jab shaadi ke baad main waapis Kartik se milne lagi, toh mujhe uska saath accha lagne lagaa. Sameer toh waise bhi mujhse durr hi rehta tha, ek kamre mein rehne ke bawajud hamare beech pati patniwala koi rishta nahi tha. Main jaanti thi ki Sameer ne bhi yeh shaadi kisi dabaav mein hi ki thi, isliye kabhi hamare beech ek married couple wala rishta bana hi nahi."
"Par fir jaise jaise main Kartik ke saath rehne lagi, time bitaane lagi, mujhe wohh pasand aane laga aur jab Sameer ne sabke saamne mujhse divorce maanga toh main maan bhi gayi, kyunki main Kartik ke saath rehna chahti thi. Maine Kartik ke behkaave mein aakar Sameer ko divorce de diya aur uske saath rehne lagi."
"Shuruwaat mein hamare beech sab accha hi tha, par jaise jaise Kartik ek ke baad ek apne saare contracts khone lagaa tab wohh Sameer se aur bhi nafrat karne lagaa. Pehle mujhe lagta tha ki shaayad uski wajah main hun par nahi wajah toh kuch aur hi thi. Kartik ko Sameer pehle se hi pasand nahi tha, yaa yun kahun ki Sameer ki kamyaabi se jalta tha."
"Kartik ko har wohh cheez chahiye thi jo Sameer ke paas hoti hai, aur main unmein se hi ek hun. Kartik mere saath isliye nahi tha ki main usse pasand thi ya usse mujhse koi pyaar tha. Usne mujhe apne paas sirf isliye rakha taaki wohh Sameer ko dikha sake ki maine Sameer ke upar Kartik ko chuna. Yeh baat samajne mein mujhe bhi kaafi time lag gaya."
She turned to me, "Sameer... ab aisa lagta hai ki maine tumse divorce lekar meri zindagi ki sabse badi galti kar di. Mere Nanaji sahi kehte the ki tumse accha jeevan saathi mujhe kabhi mil hi nahi sakta tha. Par khair jo ho gaya wohh ho gaya, usse hum badal nahi sakte. Par ab main aage koi galti nahi karna chaahti, isliye maine tumhe milne bulaaya tha aur tumhe bataaya ki kaun tumhare company ke sab secrets Kartik ko bataata tha."
FLASHBACK...
Sunaina had gone out for shopping when Hema & Kamya had come to meet Kartik after they were successful in stealing the first presentation & getting shortlisted for the Mittal Empire's partnership.
Kartik shouted, "Aisa kaise ho sakta hai? Kamya tumne Sameer ka presentation churaaya tha, fir aise kaise hamare presentation alag ho gaye? Main kisi bhi haal mein yeh partnership jeetna chaahta hun. Par ab waapis mujhe Sameer ke saamne khada hona padega."
Kamya replied, "Kartik... mujhe lagta hai ki Sameer aur Naina ne dusra presentation ek backup ke liye banaaya hoga, isliye toh unhone last moment presentation kab change kar liya, yeh mujhe pataa hi nahi chala. Yeh Naina aur Sameer ek kadam aage hi rehte hai hamesha. Mujhe lagaa tha ki issi partnership se unki haar ki shuruwaat hogi par aisa nahi hua. Yeh dono ke dimaag kaafi aage chalte hai humse."
Hema spoke, "Sahi kahaa Kamya... Kuch jyada hi durr ki sochte hai dono isliye toh itni aasaani se hume bewakoof banaa diya aur apna presentation change kar diya. Kamya... Tumhe ab chaukanna ho jaana chahiye, kahin wohh tumpar shakk na kar baithe. Unhe zara bhi shak hua na toh hamari saari mehnat par paani fir jaayega."
Kamya laughed, "Sameer aur Naina kabhi sapne mein bhi mujhpar shak nahi kar sakte. Itne saal se imaandaar rahi hun toh Sameer ko mujhpar shak nahi hoga aur Naina toh mujhe apna dost maanti hai, toh wohh bhi aisa kuch nahi kar sakti. Aur baaki sab toh bewakoof hai, unhe kabhi kuch bhi pataa nahi chalega."
Sunaina who had left for shopping had returned home as she wasn't feeling well. She had heard their whole conversation & was shocked that Kartik was using Kamya & the other girl to steal the presentation & quotation from Sameer's company. She stood behind the door & continued hearing their plan of stealing Sameer's presentation again.
When the girls left, Sunaina rushed to the other room & hid till she saw the other girl returning back to Kartik. Her anger rose when she saw them naked & making out in his bedroom. She almost ran to the nearest washroom & puked out.
When she came back, she heard them talking, "Kartik... Hum kab tak aise rahenge? Hum dono ek dusre se kitne saalon se pyaar karte hai par fir bhi saath nahi reh sakte. Tum Sunaina ko ab tak kyun jhel rahe ho, usse apni zindagi se baahar nikaal do Kartik. Main tumhe uske saath ab aur nahi dekh sakti. Please Sunaina ko chod do aur fir mujhse shaadi kar lo."
Kartik kissed her hard, "Jaanta hun jaaneman, par abhi main Sunaina ko nahi chod sakta, jab tak main Sameer ko poori tarah se tabaah na kar dun tab tak mujhe Sunaina ko apne paas rakhna hai. Aur tum kya chaahti ho ki yeh jo shaan aur shaukat mein reh raha hun, usse aise hi jaane dun. Ek baar yeh partnership mujhe mil jaaye aur main Sunaina se shaadi karke uski saari property mere naam kar lun, uske baad main usse dhakke maar kar iss ghar se nikaal dunga. Sweetheart... tab tak hume aise hi chupchupkar milna hoga."
The ground beneath Sunaina shifted & she was devastated hearing what her so called boyfriend was saying. She had never imagined that he would do this to her, cheat her so badly. She was so much broken that she couldn't face herself. She left from his house & called up Sameer.
Sameer was shocked to see her name on his mobile's screen. He picked up the call & after hearing the sobs on the other side, he decided to meet her at her apartment. When Sameer heard the whole truth from her, his trust was shattered. How could Kamya do this to him & his company? How could she betray him like that & behave so innocent & hard working in front of him?
At first, he wasn't ready to believe but then he started to observe her & then kept a track on her. He indeed found out later that she was in touch with Kartik. Sunaina wasn't aware about Hema's name so she just informed him that someone else was also helping Kamya & Kartik.
And from there, Sameer had been aware about Kamya's & Kartik's motive. Just a day before submitting the presentation, he had asked Sunaina to let him know about Kartik's whereabouts. She was the one who was at Sameer's side since they were shortlisted for Mittal Empire's partnership & she had learnt about the truth.
Sunaina kept in touch with Sameer, informing him about Kartik every now & then.
FLASHBACK ENDS...
Kartik, Hema & Kamya were stunned to silence after Sunaina revealed the whole truth in front of Mr Vijay Mittal, the police crew & all the guests present in that party. The media too had recorded everything & were live presenting all the details about the cheating done by Kartik Singhania & the girls.
Mr Vijay Mittal & Sameer had already filed a treachery case on all the three before the party had started. The police inspector took Kartik, Kamya & Hema in their van. Naina hugged Sunaina & thanked her for her help. Sunaina smiled widely & hugged her back, "Naina... tum bohot lucky ho ki tumhe Sameer jaisa pyaar karnewaala jeevan saathi mil raha hai. Uska saath kabhi mat chodna... Sameer ki aankhon mein dikhta hai ki wohh tumse kitna pyaar karta hai. Naina... agar kabhi maine tumhe kuch jaane anjaane mein kuch bhala bura keh diya ho, toh mujhe maaf kar dena. All the best Naina for the beautiful future ahead. Stay happy..."
She turned to me, "Sameer... Maine shaadi ke baad tumhare saath aur tumhari family ko jaisa treat kiya uske liye I'm really very sorry. Main naasamaj thi isliye tumhe nahi pehchaan paayi aur Kartik ko chuna. Par kehte hai na ki jo hota hai wohh acche ke liye hi hota hai. Agar hum alag na hue hote toh tumhe Naina jaisi itni pyaar karnewaali ladki kabhi na milti. All the best Sameer... aur ho sake toh mujhe maaf kar dena."
I hugged her too, "Tumhe maafi maangne ki zarurat nahi hai Sunaina... Jo beet gaya wohh waqt waaapis toh nahi aayega. Toh poorani baatein bhool jaate hai aur ek nayi shuruwaat karte hai. Tum... tum apna aur Nanaji ka khayaal rakhna. Aur kabhi bhi meri zarurat pade toh bina kisi jijak ke mujhe call karna. Tumne jo hamari madad ki hai uske liye thank you Sunaina. Agar tum sahi time par mujhe sab na bataati toh hume Kamya ka sach kabhi pataa hi nahi chalta. "
Sunaina replied, "Don't mention it Sameer... Maine wohi kiya jo mujhe sahi lagaa aur karna chahiye tha. Chalo ab main chalti hun, main Nanaji ko lekar thode din ke liye New York apni maasi ke ghar jaa rahi hun. Waapis aakar tum sab se milungi." She left bidding us goodbye & we all happily let her go.
We signed the partnership agreements which were already made two weeks back. The party continued & after half an hour, Vijay uncle cut the birthday cake & we all happily cheered on. We left towards our home after midnight, happy & content.
That night I was finally relieved that all the truth had come out & our plan had worked successfully. I was really thankful to everyone who had helped me & supported me throughout this bad phase. When we reached home, Nanu & Maa were very much happy as finally all the drama was over.
Our friends had gone to their homes directly from Vijay uncle's house. Nanu & Maa retired to their rooms while I & Naina went to the terrace directly. As usual Naina leaned on my shoulder & I slipped my hand around her waist.
The direct contact of my palm with her skin made her shudder in my arms. I kept rubbing her skin with my fingers while she just snuggled closer to me. "Sameer... Aaj finally sach sabke saamne baahar aa hi gaya. Maine kabhi sapne mein nahi socha tha ki Kamya aisa kuch kar sakti hai. Maine usse meri itni acchi friend manaa tha aur usne meri ussi dosti ka mazaak banaa ke rakh diya. Har ek kadam par wohh hume cheat kar rahi thi."
I replied, "Naina... Mujhe bhi yakeen hi nahi hua tha jab Sunaina ne mujhe Kamya ke baare mein bataaya tha. Itne saal se acche se kaam kar rahi thi, isliye mujhe uspar shak hi nahi hua. Sunaina ke bataane ke baad maine uspar nazar rakhna shuru kiya aur tab mujhe pataa chala ki wohh Kartik ke saath mili hui, bas koi thos saboot nahi tha yeh sab saabit karne ke liye, isliye sahi mauke ka intezaar kiya."
"Aur Hema... chiii... aisi ladkiyan bhi duniya mein hoti hai wohh aaj maine dekh liya. Pehle lagaa ki Kamya uski dosti ka faayda utha rahi hai par yahaan toh wohh khud hi Kamya ka faayda utha rahi thi. Mujhe toh ab tak yakeen nahi ho raha hi Kamya ne hamare baare mein rumors failaane ko kahaa tha. Kitna neeche gir gayi thi wohh humse badla lene ke liye."
Naina continued, "Haannn... yakeen toh mujhe bhi nahi hua Sameer par jab usne khud yeh kahaa toh yakeen karna pada. Koi aur yeh sab kehta toh hum shaayad believe na kar paate. Hai na???" I looked at her sad eyes, "Haannn... par jab wohh yeh sab bol rahi thi naa tab mann kar raha tha ki usse khinchkar do thappad lagaa dun. Agar wohh ladka hoti na, toh usse pataa chalta ki Sameer Maheshwari ki biwi se aisa barataav karne ka nateeja kya hota hai."
She smiled & hugged me tightly, "Biwi nahi... honewali biwi... Chalo... ab yeh sab chodo. Mudde ki baat par aate hai." I looked at her in confusion & she smiled, "Congratulations Sameer... hume finally Mittal Empire ki partnership mil hi gayi." I kissed her on her forehead, "Congratulations to you too Jaan... Agar tum mera saath na deti toh shaayad main yeh sab akela nahi kar paata." "Sameer... hamare saath saath hamare doston ne bhi bohot mehnat ki hai. Yeh jeet sirf hamari nahi hai, hum sab ki hai."
I agreed, "Sahi kahaa Naina... yeh jeet hum sab ki hai aur hume yeh jeet manaani chahiye, hai na?" "Haann bilkul... Hum kal hi party karenge, Vijay uncle aur Rekha aunty ko bhi invite karenge Sameer." We decided to party the next evening for our success & enjoy with our close family & friends.
As Naina got up to leave, I pulled her in my arms. "Aise kaise jaa sakti ho tum Naina???" She looked confused & I continued, "Ab tak humne ek dusre ko thik se congratulate nahi kiya hai Naina..." I said eyeing her luscious lips & she stood on her tiptoes & kissed me hungrily.
I had neither expected her to initiate the kiss nor dominate it. She stole my breath away with her passionate kiss. When we came up for air, my lips still tingled with the effect of her kiss. I was stunned to see the desire flooding her eyes which was igniting the same craving in my body too.
I picked her up in a bridal style & carried her towards my room. As we entered the room, I shut the door with my foot while she locked it. Our eyes remained fixed on each other while I put her down slowly. I took a step away & let my eyes wander over her curves. She looked stunning in that pink shimmer saree.
She lowered her eyes & turned around to stand in front of the mirror. I removed my suit & threw it away on the couch while her eyes stayed glued on my actions. I opened the buttons of my shirt one by one looking at her reflection in the mirror. She didn't even wink once all the time & kept staring at me.
When I opened the last button of my shirt, her eyes moved down slowly & I saw her gawking at my bare chest. I didn't remove the shirt & let it hang on my body. I took few steps towards her & stood right behind her, our eyes locked on each other's reflection. I held her by her shoulders & moved her hair to one side.
My breath hitched watching her backless blouse which gave me an ample view of her bare back. Her silky soft creamy skin made me yearn for her more. Closing my eyes, I controlled my desires & she leaned in to touch my bare chest with her bare back. My body burnt with her sudden move.
"Naina...", her name escaped my lips & she hummed in response. My guttural voice sounded alien to me as my control was snapping fast with just her mere touch. I wasn't in my senses anymore when I pulled her close to me. When I opened my eyes to see our reflection in the mirror, I was dumbstruck seeing the view in front of me.
Naina was unpinning the pallu of her saree & I saw the pallu falling down in a swift movement. All the air whooshed out of my lungs as I saw her reflection in the mirror. She slowly undid her saree in front of me & whispered huskily, "Ab iss saree mein toh nahi so sakti na?"
I couldn't believe that this was my sweet innocent naïve Naina. When did she turn into this seducing queen? My erotic heartbeats accelerated watching her undo her saree right in front of me. Once she was done, she bundled up the saree & kept in on the chair ahead. Turning around, she whispered again, "Ab sone chale? Mujhe bohot neend aa rahi hai..."
I cursed myself for bringing this bold fiancé to my room now. She was surely going to be the death of me tonight. When I didn't move, she pulled me towards the bed & I stuttered, "Main... main... change karke aata hun." I rushed in the washroom while I heard her chuckle behind me.
After five minutes I was back in the room to see another surprise. Naina had changed into my black t-shirt that ended right above her knees. She looked damn cute in this new dress-up & I promised myself that she would always wear my t-shirts to bed after marriage. I blushed when I questioned myself further, did she need anything to wear at bed with me?
Her voice broke my naughty thoughts, "Sameer... Let's sleep..." I nodded & joined her on bed. I cuddled her & we drifted to sleep in each other's soothing embrace. All the desires & needs could wait till marriage which was due in next month.
When I woke up, I missed her presence in my room. It was already ten in the morning when I opened my eyes. Naina would've left before anyone could walk into my room. I freshened up quickly & joined Nanu & Maa in the living room. When I didn't find my hot fiancé with them, I asked desperately, "Maa... Naina kahaan hai? Kab se dikhi nahi?"
Nanu replied, "Lo aa gayi tumhari Naina..." I blushed at that & my eyes locked with hers. She greeted everyone & left towards the kitchen with Maa to bring breakfast for us. While having breakfast, I told Nanu & Maa about the party & they were very happy with it. Nanu, Maa & Naina invited our friends & close families while I made all the arrangements for the party tonight.
We kept busy the whole day with the preparations for the party. Our friends too joined us after lunch & the rest of the guests would come for the party in the evening directly. We all kept chatting & enjoying while helping out with the decorations. It was already evening by the time we finished & we left to dress up for the party.
When I entered my room, I saw a black three-piece suit already kept on the bed. I knew it had to be Naina who had taken it out for me. I freshened up quickly & got ready in the next half an hour. The guests had started coming in. Nanu & Maa received the guests while I kept myself busy in mingling with them.
It was more than twenty minutes but there was no trace of my beloved fiancé. My friends understood my restlessness & teased, "Sameer... Aa jaayegi Bhabhi... taiyaar hone mein thodi der toh lagti hai na?" I stood there with a fake smile plastered on my face while my heart was waiting for his better half.
After few moments, I felt her presence & I immediately turned to face her. She stood right at the entrance of the garden dressed up in a red netted saree. I walked towards her in hasty steps & engulfed her in a warm hug, "Aaj fir se kayamat dhaa rahi hai aap, Mrs Naina Sameer Maheshwari..."
The color on her cheeks matched her saree & she replied, "Kya karun Mr Sameer Maheshwari, mujhe bhi toh apne pati ke handsome looks ko match karna padta hai na?" Before I could reply, we heard someone clearing his throat behind us. We came face to face with Vijay uncle & Rekha aunty who were looking at us with teasing smiles.
They hugged us & congratulated us. We joined the party with them & throughout the party, I made sure that Naina stayed beside me. Everyone enjoyed the party happily while I glanced at my beautiful lovely fiancé who was sharing her favorite red velvet cake with me.
