Just finished watching Charlie.....I ended up quite enjoying it - especially the visuals....they made it so colorful with the various festivals and melting pot of religious backgrounds. I was especially wowed by the creativity from the art department in putting together the various quirky keepsakes in Charlie's house.

Now I'm gonna try to watch Maara soon to see what was similar and what wasn't.....lol

I told you It is such a good movie and yes the visuals and creativity was top notch. In maara they have taken even more liberty and probably had a higher budget too so they took it an extra step forward though I still love the chaos of original and the neatness did bugged me but as I said it probably went with the more sorted version of the character . To me the biggest change was in the characteristic. While Charlie had more of a raw restless energy madhavan brought the calmness in the nomad. His version isn't as chaotic as dq's version which in intresting. I would love to read your thoughts.

I just thought the polaroid was such a genius idea that all along she had come across Charlie before.

I won't lie am not a fan on kani in original caz I Don't like that actress that much with DQ even in abcd I was like ehh so I enjoyed that better in maara. But the theif was not my fav in maara but in Charlie was soubin was fab the whole night out haha was so much fun

Paro was fab and sundariii penne is like my fav but shraadha is equally good and that is huge given how big stan of paro I am hahah

I also want you to watch jersey the original and get onto nani films too haha he is such a natural and his films are so.feel good for the most part. Jersey is so good

@bold: Oh yes! I deffo didn't see that coming....it just gave a really interesting twist to the last scene.....and it explained better why Charlie had kind of been avoiding her even after knowing she's looking for him.....cuz she'd already met him once and still didn't remember him.....lol.....and haha@ her then trying to trick him into thinking she's not Tessa.....but he was already two steps ahead of her. 😆

I'm deffo intrigued to see how they re-interpreted this in Maara.....budget really didn't feel like that much of an issue to me in Charlie cuz the cinematography was still wonderful....but let's see how they did it in Maara. I would think that the part of Charlie does need a raw, restless energy to work because he is so whimsical in all he does. So I'm intrigued to see how Madhavan pulled a different interpretation on this....a calmer nomad as you are saying.....I think it might work all because Madhavan is so charming.....DQ is good, but Madhavan is like star quality charm.....lol

I didn't really have much of an opinion on Kani.....I briefly wondered if they would force some kind of lowe triangle, so I was quite thankful that they didn't go that cliched route.

Oh lovely gifs, Fary! I'd kinda forgotten their Bangalore Days waali pairing.....lol but these gifs really do draw a lovely parallel and contrast b/w their characters in the two movies.

Forgot to add in the previous post....re: the thief....oh absolutely he did a very good job in Charlie....made it a memorable character.

I do thi k the change suited the actors as in Maddy can pull that calmness and i do beleive that I felt that he was calmer caz of madhavan playing it too. Maybe it is in my head and not driven from plot point caz they have kept it pretty much same. I did feel they ended the old couple ka are really well in maara and added more depth and connect to it it just made it so much nore emotional which resulted in the length increase but I just loved the actor more in Charlie and his camaraderie with dq.

Oh it doesn't matter to me I mean the budget I toh love Charlie with all my heart the cinematography the visuals were just brilliant in itself but they took it a bit ahead in maara and I do think that at times despite all the beauty it did feel just ittu sa made up though I still loved it but I think that resulted in budget being big just a random passing thought haha e.g the whole chasing the artwork sequence it is one of my favs in maara but I did felt it had more of a built this way for purpose of the scene rather then it being extra natural and I loved that seq idk it is hard to explain i posted that set earlier

Hahah I gifed that climax scene recently of both the films and the stark difference again I that too came through with Charlie it is full of chaos in the mela with extra energy and then in maara ot is so mellow but high on emotion hehe. I think I will do parallels sets caz I loved both the versions for their own pros and cons

They are my top fav pairing in malayalam along with nithya and dq and ofcpurse parvathy and prithvi and now am gonna pesture you again to watch ennui Nintendo moideen haha you'll probably hate me for it but this one is worth every penny and so heartnbreakigly beautiful one of the most poignant love stories I have seen and they have done full justice to the actual real people and their tragedy

Soubin shahir is a masterclass in acting put him in any role and he just excels his kumbalungi nights is just so so ahead of everybody else and is so so so good . The ambience is so lovely that at one point I felt am part of it being on that seashore /kerala island it makes you want to live in it despite all the estranged Brothers and tension absolutely amazing
