Chapter - 1
After 5 years in London, Bondita Roy Choudhry is returning to her village Tulsipur not only with a barrister certificate but also with a gold medal. She was just 15 years old when she had left for London, scared and upset but it was only for the strength, she got from her pati babu made her to stay in London and became what she is now, strong, confident, barrister Bondita.
And returning after years to her home town made her feel nostalgic. She was unable to control her excitement of reaching and meeting all her family members, her pati babu, Kaka sasurji, Sasurji, Som dada, Batuk, Maa, Sourabh jija, Sampoorna didi and their son Praveen. Thinking this made her more restless and she wanted the journey to end soon and the ship to reach quickly.
The change in Tulsipur and in Roy Choudhry Mansion were not much though. But now along with her Kaka sasurji, her Sasurji too is proud of her. Batuk still the prankster loves her boudi along with Som dada. Her Bhari kaka and Koili didi are a little older now. And her pati babu, a more matured. She though has not met them in years but all the letters from home had made her to stay connected with them.
After Bondita left for London, Anirudh too had left Tulsipur to stay in Calcutta and practice law. His visits to village was rare, only once or twice in years. He has made himself indulge in fighting the cases and help people, he still fights for the right of women. He wants to gather some experience in Calcutta as it will help him to bring revolution in Tulsipur. He is just waiting for the right time, the return of Bondita so that they together can fight for the right. It is not only his wish but Bondita's too, as mentioned by her in some letters. They both are away from each other but in all these years the number of letters from Calcutta to London was much more than Calcutta to Tulsipur.
But all the letters to Bondita was about how to study, stay focus, list of books, his cases in Calcutta and their discussions of changes needed in Tulsipur. They never talked about their relationship or their personal matters. Still the cuteness stayed, Bondita always called him pati babu and never hesitated in sharing her doubts and problems and Anirudh always guided her in much better ways.
But after his beta and bahu left haveli Trilochan Roy Choudhry's smile too is lost with them. He is just waiting for their return. Though first upset with Anirudh's decision of sending Bondita to London, he gave his consent afterwards as his happiness lies with them. And he has complete trust on Bondita that she can handle her home and court both perfectly well.
Binoy too is happy as he can proudly say his bahu is a barrister and can fit perfectly of being a Roy Choudhry bahu, so he too didn't had a problem in sending her to London. And now as she is grown-up, Anirudh and she would make a perfect pair. Thus everyone is waiting for both's return to make their family complete. And now the much awaited movement has arrived. The 5 years are over and the apple of everyone's eyes are coming back.
But along with the Roy Choudhrys someone else too is happy on hearing the return of Anirudh. And of course it's none other than Soudamini. The world may change but Mini can never. She is still there waiting for Anirudh because in her dreams she is sure that after Bondita will become a barrister, Anirudh will leave Bondita and marry her. Because she never accepted Bondita as Anirudh's wife and has always misunderstood her friendship with Anirudh to be something more than it.

Shocked!! would be an understatement for Anirudh Roy Choudhary when he met his wife Bondita Roy Choudhary. Anirudh was there to pick her from the seaport so that they together can travel back to Tulsipur. But he had never thought something like this will be awaiting for him.
He had never imagined in his wildest dreams that the 15 years old teenage Bondita would have transformed into such a beauty. Clad in a magenta banarasi saree in bengali style, with few gold jewelleries and long hairs tied in french pleats, she looked ethereal. That chirpy, cute Bondita that Anirudh had left in London was long gone and standing in front of him was a beautiful lady, but that red vermilion in her forehead called her, His.
Breaking his reveries of thought came her magical voice, "pati babu app mujhe ese kyu dekh rahe hain?? Mein achi nehi dikh rahi hun kya?? Kaka sasurji ne hi toh patra me likha tha ki, itne saal baad ghar a rahi ho toh ache se tayar hoke ana.."
this innocent reply of hers made Anirudh to admire her again and he replied with a smile, "bilkul nehi badli tum, bahut achi lag rahi ho.. Ab chalo.."
And together they sat in the car for a new journey of their life.
They received a grand welcome by all the family members on reaching. And everyone's face was filled with joy on seeing their favourite couple standing in front of them and kaka's eyes were filled with happy tears as his Ram-Sita are finally back home after there banwas(according to him). As per his instructions Koili didi came with the arti thaal and Kaka himself did their arti and welcomed them inside.
Bondita was too happy on meeting everyone. They all had a family moment after ages. Binoy asked her about her stay in London and university. Batuk cracked some jokes and they both laughed. It was Kaka who asked everyone to keep their talks for later and asked his bahu to rest. And thus Bondita headed to her room followed by Anirudh.
But on opening the door she was surprised to the view infront of her. The room was still the same as it was. The big bed of her pati babu, dressing table still filled with lots of British perfumes, the wooden wardrobe and the small bed of hers.
But the difference was in the wall. The room was filled with a lots of photographs of her and patibabu from her early age. She was astonished to see all of them.
Her eyes caught the 1st one, hung above the bed, the big one of all. It was clicked during her laat week in Tulsipur before leaving for London. Kaka had asked the photographer to come to click photos and there she was sitting in a chair all decked up in a red banarasi saree and heavy jewelries and her pati babu standing beside her in a black suit and yes the photo looked too royal that Bondita couldn't believe it was she herself in the photo. In the side walls there were a lot many small photos of her and pati babu with all family members then there were some of her childhood days, when she was 11 or 12.
And then Bondita turned and saw Anirudh standing at the door gazing at the photos and then she asked, "ye sab apne kiya hai pati babu??" but he was equally surprised.
Then a voice came from back, "pati babu nehi humne". And there at the door were her devars. And Som asked, "kaisa laga boudhi, ye maine aur Batuk ne kiya hai.. apke liye humare taraf se swagat ka tofa." and they smiled making Bondita to laugh.
Then they got engrossed in their talks that they didn't notice Anirudh who now had walked inside the room and was gazing at the photos more intently.
