What makes Deepika stand out from her contemporaries?

There were more talented ones than her like Vidya, Priyanka and Kangana.

There were more "hotter" actresses like Katrina.

There were more conventionally beautiful faces like Sonal Chauhan, Neha Sharma and Aditi Rao Hydari.

Yet, Deepika emerged as numeru-uno and ruled for a good many years.

What makes her so successful?

Her screen presence. She's a complete actress which is very rare in bollywood because she could act (Piku, comic timing in chennai express etc), dance decently - not great at dancing but she's fine (in songs like nagada sang), and looks beautiful.

How is deepika not conventionally beautiful?

I think the fact that she made conscious choice to not be a flowerpot in movies is commendable,and in a particular year all of 3/4 of her movies worked which she followed up by doing padmaavat and BM and piku.These 2 SLB movies might not have worked for her acting wise but the songs he gave her will keep her memorable.She also improved on her acting,combining her decent acting skills plus gorgeous looks plus her knowledge for PR worked I guess.

I think good debut then some hit songs then after a gap hit movies

And she has many fans due to some comedy or simple family movies.

I will choose deepu and katty above others in terms of following by girls in 2008 to 2015.

I dont like new slb movie choices. She should do a comedy for comeback as she is good in it.

^^^ Don't get me wrong, I feel she is very beautiful but I am talking about the opinion on the forum that the names I mentioned are more beautiful than her.

For me, she is the most beautiful actress in BW.

She was born to be on the silver screen...she exudes such a luminous, larger-than-life screen presence and persona which very few artists have. It's intangible, elusive, but very much present⭐️

I agree, but her contemporaries also include Kangana, Vidya and Priyanka who are superior when it comes to raw acting skills. Then there was Kareena and Anushka. She had plenty of competition(both actors and non-actors). I feel she stands out due to her luminous screen presence, which makes it hard to look away when she's on screen. Kareena also has that quality.
