This chapter belongs to Arnav.  Throughout the train journey he thought about Khushi, her suffering and the happiness she showed in the last two days.  So, Ammaji was not keen on sending Khushi with Arnav and Lavanya.  Thanks to Garima's last minute sickness, Khushi was able to see and enjoy a world which was literally closed for her.  Arnav fully understood Khushi.  What more do we want?  An understanding friend is the beginning.

Cheers...

Loved reading Arnav's thoughts about Khushi. Glad to see Khushi was able to live her life these two days freely without any restrictions on her even though Ammaji was not in favor of her going with Arnav and Lavanya still thinking it was Khushi who let Arnav knew about the orthodox rituals which are forced upon child widows. "Thank You," which Khushi says to Arnav says it all. It was nice knowing that Arnav thinking of changing the traditions which are being followed in Ratnagiri. Arnav wanted Khushi to know he can understand her pain and doesn't pity or sympathize with her which is why he was comfortable in sharing his own pain. Though knowing Ammaji still Arnav's heart long for the love he was looking for in his mother but every time he gets disappointed seeing her behavior.

Eager for the next one

Thanks for the PM

It was a fantastic chapter it was all  about Arnav his thoughts and reflections on the mini holiday of the trio.

Ammaji however much she  does a lot of social work in her home town but when it comes to following customs and traditions she is all for it she is one hell of an orthodox woman. She  didn’t want kushi to accompany them on the trip but courtesy the ill health of mausi kushi could go on the trip and was able to see Pune ,and for a period of three days Arnav  and lavanya saw to that she could live a life where there was no need to follow  customs and-traditions or rather live a life of a widow.

This trip was an emotional one for Arnav as it brought back memories of his school and college days so also he was surprised how he could share many details of his childhood with kushi and she patiently listened to all what he was saying because she also had a troubled childhood she could understand mentally how difficult it must have been for him to stay alone and crave for parents love.

Back home after reaching Ratnagiri Ammaji was ready to receive lavanya and not him thereby disappointing him ,but hearing thank you from kushi’s mouth thrilled him.

Arnav will be butting heads with Ammaji soon to bring the necessary change to Ratnagiri. Khushi has had a little taste of life. It may be harder to go back to the usual now.

"Though she didn't accept my friendship but I found a friend in her"

This line sums up the genuineness of the feelings Khushi evokes in Arnav so well. It was lovely reading his point of view in this chapter.

Loved the chapter. The trip changed things for both, how will this affect their life now they are back in the Ratnagiri with its old outdated customs. Ammaji is a woman that I can't admire or respect.

The class room scene was very touching...Arnav was able to share with Khushi, because he knew he won't be judged by her. May be he also wanted her to see him in a different light, may he wanted her to feel related , not just as the Chote Malik of the house she works in.

Khushi is very perceptive and quite intelligent, will she be able to motivate herself to, may be take help of Arnav and Khushi, move out of Ratnagiri, get more educated, and my be come back and help reform the society she grew up in, so that another Khushi can have easier life..

How is Arnav going to change the mindset of people who claim to protect the traditional values by suppressing the women and following orthodox rules set long ago blindly ( this includes his mother )...? If he wishes change in the village, it should start from his house first, does he have the guts and grits to make it happen ?

Loved reading Arnav and Khushi’s thought. I am surprised why Ammaji has different behaviour for Arnav. She was there for Lavanya but not for her own son. Fantastic story.
