Why Bajaj distanced himself from Kukki

Now here the father in him can be questioned as to why he has distanced himself from Kukki. Note that he doesn’t love her any less and Kukki KNOWS it but he’s not expressive about it and like others have pointed out, there seems to be only one reason for it: Prerna.

He saw a beyond devastated Prerna crying for her child whom she lost in the fire. In trying to stop her from killing herself, he had said she has KUKKI. He couldn’t replace Sneha for her ever but he could give her the chance to experience motherhood with Kukki so he distanced himself in order for Prerna to be closer to Kukki, which they are. Remember that scene where they both said ‘Tumhare bina mera kya hoga’ to each other. So Bajaj has sort of isolated himself even more from receiving love and affection.

Is it a fair reason? From Kukki’s POV it’s harsh. She has a right to criticise him as a father. Though having said that, most fathers aren’t expressive but you can still feel the love.

I don’t think even Prerna knows about this. She understands Bajaj very very well, the way his mind works, his underlying care but his love is hidden.

I’m waiting for Sneha to enter now. Let’s see who gets to her first.

The fact that he has isolated himself even more from receiving love and affection is only because he feels responsible for not being able to save sneha. He was a parent too who cares about sneha, which is why he had named property on her name.

It is how he mourns, unable to express his feelings 💔

As per Kuki, she is already 16/18 she has been a single child for so long. Already how her father is distant with her affects her, now with Sneha it will intensity.

I understand what you are trying to say but I have a different take on Bajaj's relationship with Kuki

Mr. Bajaj is a man who doesn't believe in gestures which can not be purchased by money, you won't see him gifting handmade cards, spending family time etc. His form of affection comes from things he can get for people he loves, he can spend crores on them that's how he functions

Kuki's form of affection is someone who spends time with her, hugs her, kisses her etc Even when she was a child, Bajaj always got things like Teddy to make her feel better, a child was happy with these things and he would ask kisses and kiss her in return but now that she has grown up Bajaj can't ask her for kisses or kiss her, there's a boundary respecting personal space between teenage girl and their fathers.

Bajaj is still the same, minus hugs and kisses, he understands she wants to go to India, he gave huge donation for her admission, that's his way of showing love and affection but Kuki has changed, she expects a friend in her father, which Bajaj is not, he is not comfortable with letting his guard down in front of anyone, he reads people but he is afraid of people knowing him too much

The change in relationship is inevitable as Kuki is a grown up and Bajaj's approach towards her is as it was when she was a child

That's my father too, He would get anything for us, we could buy anything we want but he wouldn't know what was my major in college, we didn't really share relationship like friendship. In fact in most Indian households this is the case, I remember my friend's father would come home at 2 and we used to play video games on her computer, the moment we would hear his car, we would hide our game under the bed 😂 Kuki - Bajaj relationship is very normal for me and my background
