Thappad collected 20 lakhs nett on Friday and there was a 5 lakh loss due to Delhi city not playing the film (it was hardly running in Jammu or Kerala). So basically this is a concept film doing 25 lakhs on the third Friday but there were still posters going around how the film had done very well and claiming a 30 crore nett plus figure well before the second week was out.

The claim of 30 crore nett is not a problem as 5-10 % inflation is there for most films but the doing well thing is laughable. The audience verdict has to accepted and that is the only way you can go forward because if you start believing crap like Thappad has been liked by the audience they you will do more crap like this. It was labelled the most important film whatever that is supposed to mean but again its the audience who makes it important or not and with only 19.5 lakh people turning up to watch the film they have pretty much said it holds no importance. 

The success of the film may be claimed as it would have made money due to satellite and digital but that is case with almost every Hindi film which gets a decent release today. The makers of Jawaani Jaaneman and Bhoot can claim the same thing but that still will not make those films liked or even a success with the audience.

Basically 25 lakhs nett (real value) on the third Friday for a concept which has not opened tells the story as concept films should be sustaining on the third Friday not dropping like nine pins. The industry you cant fool and today the most of the public is too clever to believe rubbish like Thappad is a HIT so the only only people you can fool are yourselves and you media friends who if they believe its an important film will also believe anything else. The collections of Thappad till date are as follows.

Week One - 20,89,00,000 

Week Two - 8,51,00,000 

Friday - 20,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 12,50,000 apprx

Sunday - 7,50,000 apprx

Third Weekend - 40,00,000 apprx

TOTAL -  29,80,00,000 apprx

and 29 crores so far is not a bad collection for this movie
