Street Dancer 3 DOWN - Panga CRASHES - Tanhaji RULES

Street Dance 3 fell 55% on Monday as it collected around 4.25 crore nett and the film had to do better to have some sort of decent run. The film had to do 5 crore nett or more on Monday. This takes the collections to around 43 crore nett plus and its looking a week of around 53 crore nett for the film.

There is no major competition in week two so that is the only hope for the film to hit the AVERAGE mark now and it needs a decent hold on the second Friday but that wont happen if the film keeps on dropping from here.

Panga saw a CRASH as it collected just 1.25 crore nett on Monday. The collections are down 40% but that is basically a crash for a film which practically no collections on day one. The film needed to collect more than Friday but here it is 40% down. The total so far for the film is around 13 crore nett and the week will probably end up with 16-16.50 crore nett. After Chhapaak this will also be that rare for loser for ths industry but with Chhapaak and this film Panga coming back to back these losers cant be called rare anymore.

Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior is a one horse race as it collects 4 crore nett on its third Monday and its heading for a 40 crore nett apprx third week. The film has been beating Panga with just its Mumbai circuit collections since Friday and it will probably soon go ahead of Street Dancer 3 also.

Panga First Tuesday Business

Panga continued to fair badly as it collected 1.20 crore nett which is pretty much in the range of Monday but the film is going nowhere. The five day total of the film is a little above 14 crore nett and the week is going to be in the 16.50 crore nett range.

It should be able to cross 20 crore nett and possibly 25 crore nett as there are no major releases this week but the 30 crore nett mark looks like a dream for the film. The film seems to heading for similar business to Saand Ki Aankh which is in a similar zone but had far lower costs than Panga. Saand Ki Aankh, Chhapaak and Panga are three films as bad as each other which hardly have an audience even if they were good yet all three clashed with big films. Now if that is really asking for trouble as you dont have an audience anyway and you think the wider audience is mad to watch your poor cinema over the bigger films..

The film could hold well over the weekdays at low levels but with hardly anything on the board its going to be a struggle to go anywhere. The collections of Panga till date are as follows.

Friday - 2,00,00,000

Saturday - 4,25,00,000

Sunday - 5,50,00,000 apprx

Monday - 1,25,00,000 apprx

Tuesday - 1,20,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 14,20,00,000 apprx

Chhapaak And Panga - Small Films But Big LOSERS

Thursday 30 January 2020 12.15 IST

Chhapaak and Panga which were released over the last few weeks have turned out big losers. It is said that its difficult to lose in small films in the business nowadays as there are digital rights as well as satellite and music which can form most of the recovery but slowly more and more films are becoming losers.

The reason for the big losses of these two films is that they looked small but the costs are not exactly small in the context of what the films look for the audience. Both films have cost around the 50 crore mark to produce and release. Normally these films would not go past 35 crore but those films have leading ladies who are probably lower down in the pecking order.

Both films looked bad from the trailers and met with a poor fate but still the expectations would be to get to 45-50 crore nett and be safe. Coincidentaly both the films were produced by the same studio which did very well last year with films like Total Dhamaal, Chhichhore and Housefull 4 but these were acquisitions.

Chhaapak had a production budget of 38 crore and 12 crore P&A and had a recovery of 26 crore from satellite, digital and music so needed another 24 crore but will do just 19 crore. This is a 5 crore loss but due to the total rejection of the film the revenue for satellite and digital is sure not to come in as its been put on the books. so the loss is pretty sure to be much more.

Panga was made at a cost of 39 crore and 10 crore P&A and had a 25 crore recovery from satellite, digital and music and also needed 24 crore to cover but will hardly do 14 crore from theaters giving it a lost of 10 crore. Again that does not take into account the losses that will have to be suffered on the account of non theatrical revenues as rejected by the public.

These type films only have a theatrical audience at multiplexes and even the ones that do well at these multiplexes suffer post release and are unable to find an audience and Chhapaak and Panga will have no audience in any format as they missed the boat in the theatres.
