When Madhuri Dixit came back to Mumbai, Phadnis was one of the first directors to queue up outside her house. Of course, things didn't go his way, reveal sources, who add that Phadnis had written the script keeping Dixit in mind.
Though Dixit's business manager Rakesh Nath denies Phadnis has ever met the actress, Phadnis neither denies the news nor confirms it. "I've been meeting a lot of stars for various reasons but that doesn't mean I'm offering them my films," he says defensively.
On the cast, Phadnis says his film will have two heroes and one heroine. Is it a love triangle? Phadnis' lips are sealed.
But he speaks up when asked if his debut film goes on the floors this year. "Hopefully. We start shooting from April this month," he replies. Why hopefully? He answers, "You know how it is with making a film — it takes time. Since it's my debut as a director, I don't intend to do anything in rush." Here's hoping he starts the project in a rush, lest the producer runs away.
