I loved Munnabhai 1, 2 was okay.
Bareilly ki Barfi and Piku were fun. Hindi Medium was funny for a bit and then it just got sad.
Bhootnath is funny? I must give it a try. Thanks for all the other recommendations. APKGK has been on my watch list forever but haven't gotten around to watching it. Is it funny?
Phans gaya re Obama - I really need to watch.
What is the new Khatta Meetha? (I have watched the old one with Ashok Kumar)

I guessed you must have watched all the Hrishida and Basuda's movies but still included them
Bhootnath is a tragi-comedy, but the ghost and kid bonding is cute and poignant

Phans Gaye Re Obama is a real gem, its a dark satire

And also Do Dooni Chaar is a cute underrated comedy with Rishi and Neetu, it has a very real and simple feel to it
APKGK is funny and cute romantic comedy, do watch it
Khatta Meetha the new one is with Akshay Kumar, it has a few LOL worthy scenes, particularly this one:😆

Somehow I found Jim Carrey too over-the-top for my taste so have been avoiding his movies. I enjoyed "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind" though, so maybe I need to give him a chance.
Tom Hanks is always likeable. And Back to the Future is my go-to Sci-fi favorite.
FWAF was on TV recently and I was taken aback to see Hugh Grant look like such a baby!😆 It's fun. I like Brit comedies, their brand of humor is so different from American humor.

Jim Carey movies were mostly OTT, but u must watch The Truman Show, hes really good there and its actually an existential satire
we always found Liar Liar and Bruce Almighty hilarious, laugh till our tummies hurt type, they're mindless comedies but we dont mind 😆
British humor is totally different from HW thats true, also liked Love Actually
There are lots of HW romantic comedies which I didnt name here.
Will add more later when I remember

Yeah- The Truman Show has been recommended by a lot of people.
I know what you mean about mindless comedies - sometimes nothing makes me laugh louder than a Govinda movie and I know a lot of people find Kishore Kumar OTT, but he's so funny, especially his improvs in Padosan. Oh and I've seen Do Dooni Char.. Good clean fun!

Love Actually is among my fav romcoms. I still smile like an idiot at Jamie and Aurelia's story - it's my fav. Did I tell you I love Colin Firth? 😆😛

Please- I'd love some romcom recommendations and I don't mind cheesy at all! 😃

@Betty - Adding Irreconcilable Differences to my watchlist!

@ bold: not a movie but a series : HUNDERBY.
IF you like irreverential humour in an Edwardian/ Victorian set up.. you will end up crying with laughter.
There are many similar series (Blackadder-you HAVE to see this!-; Alo!Alo! ; Only Fools and Horses; Fawlty Towers; Dad's Army).. that mock the havits of the bygone eras in the British society.
Some SUPER DUPER BRIT comedies:
-The Favourite (2018) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5083738/
-A Fish Called Wanda
-In Bruges (seriously recommended..Collin Farrel and 'Tyrion Lannister' at their best)
-The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy
-World's End
-Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
-Snatch
-The Full Monty
-Monty Python (all of them!)
-Shaun of the Dead

Watch Dhamaal. It is really good comedy movie.
Another one is Golmaal- first part. It is best among the 4.
Old Hera Pheri- Vinod Khanna and AB
Padosan
Tere Ghar ke Saamne
Nayi Padosan- I like this one though all the actors were, they were good. I watched it long back.

Somebody recommended AK's Khatta Meetha- the new one. There is less comedy and more tragedy.

OMG.. I love Black Adder and Fawlty Towers and Monty Python! I adore British humor especially the irreverential kind and I will definitely love Hunderby if it's anything like BA.
The Full Monty is another favorite. So are A Fish called Wanda and HGTTG.
Adding all the movie recs to my watch list! Thank you!

My picks from Bollywood are the old school comedies like Padosan, Golmaal (Old) and Khoobsoorat (Old). The comedy is spontaneous and not try-hard. Talking about comedies of recent times, IMO, Hera Pheri, Malamaal Weekly and Hungama are watchable primarily because of Paresh Rawal.

With regards to Hollywood movies, there are quite a lot but I think Trainwreck and O Brother, Where Art Thou are two of the most underrated Hollywood comedies.

However, my all time favorites are The Grand Budapest Hotel and Bridesmaids. Hangover too deserves an honorable mention.
