In the wake of the ongoing #MeToo
movement in the country, a number of
women from all walks of life have come
forward to share their #MeToo stories,
calling out the predators on social media
and other platforms. One of the most
shocking names to have cropped up is that
of showbiz's very own 'sanskaari' babuji
Alok Nath. Veteran writer, director and
producer Vinita Nanda had shared her
ordeal and alleged not just being raped, but
brutalised by the actor. Soon after that,
actress Sandhya Mridul too accused Alok
Nath of sexual harassment. This was
followed by another anonymous woman
from the crew of Hum Saath Saath Hain
calling him out for misconduct. The latest
name to join the line of those who have
allegedly been harassed by Alok Nath is Sonu
Ke Titu Ki Sweety actress Deepika Amin.
Deepika Amin, who was seen playing the
character of Sunny Singh's mother in SKTKS,
took to her Twitter account to share her
#MeToo story about Alok Nath. She wrote,
"Everyone in the industry knows that
#AlokNath is an obnoxious drunkard who
harasses women. Years ago on a telefilm
outdoor shoot, he tried to barge into my
room. He slobbered over women, drunk and
created a scene. The unit rallied around me
and made sure I was safe. #metoo."
While speaking to Firstpost, Deepika Amin
had shared that she has heard other male
actors talking about women being upset
with Alok Nath because he would knock on
their doors at night. However, the actress
who also shared screen space with him in
Luv Ranjan's directorial Sonu Ke Titu Ki
Sweety, added in her Facebook post that
Alok Nath was "quiet and subdued" on the
sets of the film. "Maybe he has changed?
Maybe because the director Luv Ranjan
made it clear he wouldn't tolerate bad
behaviour. But after reading Vinta Nanda's
heartbreaking account I felt I had to support
her. BELIEVE WOMEN. They have everything
to lose by speaking out.
#IbelieveyouVintaNanda #metoo
#Timesup."
For those who've come in late, the wave of
#MeToo movement in India started taking
shape soon after Tanushree Dutta alleged
veteran actor Nana Patekar of sexually
harassing her on the sets of the film Horn
OK Pleasss, about a decade back. Since
then, names like Rajat Kapoor, Vikas Bahl,
Kailash Kher among others have been
accused of sexual misconduct.
