Imtiaz Ali: Deepika Padukone is powerful and a good actor.

Imtiaz Ali has worked with Deepika
Padukone in the hit film Love Aaj Kal (2009)
and the critically acclaimed Tamasha (2015).
In their last collaboration Tamasha, Imtiaz
gave us a beautiful, mature, and lovely
character Tara played by Deepika.
In an interview with a leading daily, when
Imtiaz was asked how does it feel to work
with Deepika, he said, "Directing her
(Deepika) in any film is an experience in its
own; one gets to learn a lot of things."
He further added that she is a powerful and
understanding actress. Ali stated, "She is
powerful and a good actor. I have highest
regard and love for her. Her understanding
and dedication for a character is what
makes her special and different from
others."
The director also revealed that initially, he
didn't wanted Deepika to play Tara's role in
Tamasha. He said, "Initially, I didn't want her
to play that part because I didn't know if it
was worth her while, but she said she
wanted to do it. I knew that she'd
understand the darkness and pain of the
emotion very well. So, that's why I decided
to go ahead with her."
A couple of days back, to commemorate two
years of Tamasha, Imtiaz took to Facebook
to share an anecdote from one of the first
movie screening. Imtiaz said, "The day
Tamasha released Ranbir and I sat in a
corner of PVR Icon. Deepika was pacing up
and down. Our first show was running.
Then she asked me - "How do you think the
film will do? I answered without thinking -
"It will take at least two years for us to find
out how this film has done."
