Ittefaq opened with low collections of around 10-15% and was second best to Thor - Ragnorak which taken a good opening of around 25-30%. The Hollywood film has opened to double the collections of Ittefaq. The opening of Ittefaq is very similar to the last film of Sidharth Malhotra The Gentleman though that was on a much higher screen count.
The difference will be that this film will have chance of growth as the content s more for that evening audience in metros while The Gentleman was mainly dependent on the youth coming in the morning.
The biggest plus of Ittefaq is low cost with the production budget of just 13-14 crore and a tight spend on P & A as well with the actors not promoting much and not doing those repetitive interviews which they have probably done for numerous films before which look fake to the audience today, not just for Ittefaq but other films also. Today this type of promotion does not convert but more likely puts the audience off. Its best to let the film talk and if it has something the audience will come automatically when the word gets out.
The low cost ensures that recovery is there even if nothing much happens theatrically but eventually the film has to watched and liked by the audience and only then does something come out for the film be it the actors or director.
Thor - Ragnorak has good collections on its opening morning as well. The last film Thor film did not open well at around 2.25 crore nett but this one is far better and the presence of Hulk in this one may have helped the film in India. It looks set to post good weekend collections.
