It often bothered me that though Annika knew Shivaay, inside and out, he never really knew her. She never revealed herself, she never spoke of the past and though he asked her once, he never really bothered much.
Somewhere he became used to the fact that she was HIS. Only HIS. It gave him a sense of ownership/possession and he revelled in the fact that someone so unique and loving and beautiful was his alone to cherish. He looked into her past, but not with the fervour and passion with which Shivaay Singh Oberoi does things. He looked into her past when he wanted to establish who she was (NKK)and then decided it didn't matter. Past didn't matter. Present did.
But it was her past that shaped her.
The insecurities that stemmed from her past made her maintain a stoic silence about her past. If OmRu are a part of Shivaay's soul, Chutki was Annika's. And though Annika knows his soul completely, he is unaware of the essence that makes Annika, Annika.
Oh he knows her-as well as she knows him but she has left a major part of her past unrevealed.
He knows she is scared of dark, he doesn't know why.
He knows , there was some Chutki in her life, he doesn't know who she was.
He knows she lived a hard life, he doesn't know how hard it was for her to survive.
Her insecurities made her keep her past a blank slate. He looked at the blank slate and took it for face value but he never dug enough to see that chalk writings could be wiped off slates. She fell into a pattern and accepted his family as hers and he was more than happy of that, of the fact that his family was hers and majorly the fact that she was his and his alone.
He doesn't know that the past she keeps so hard under wraps resurfaces from time to time, either as a recurring nightmare or as delirious ramblings.
He doesn't know that the loss of her sister was so deeply ingrained in her being that she hasn't been able to forget it after all these years
He doesn't know, that there is a very strong possibility that Annika was a victim of abuse given the added "Mujhe mat maaro' to her ramblings.
The past that he knows of hers has shaken him out of his very soul, having always lived a luxurious life but the more brutal side of her life is yet to be revealed.
There is a major chunk of her life that Shivaay Singh Oberoi doesn't know
And neither do we.
