Ibrahim Ali Khan Admits Nadaaniyan Was A Bad Film
Jagga Jasoos Day 1 Box Office Collection Update: Bollywood has been struggling for initials for quite some time. The last couple of months has turned out to be very poor for Bollywood. The big Eid release Tubelight starring Salman Khan disappointed big time. There were only a couple of successful films in the same period.
Now all eyes are on Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif starrer Jagga Jasoos. This is the first big release since Tubelight. As per the official announcement, the film is released in 1800 screens. The makers have opted for a limited release and the most of the screens are allocated to high-end multiplexes.
Jagga Jasoos has a poor opening. The overall occupancy in the morning shows was in the range of 20-25% in all over India which is a slow start. The opening is better in Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore but the rest of the places are way below the mark. Considering that it is a controlled release, the occupancy should have been better. The makers have made a wise decision by not opting for a wide release. Otherwise, the shows would have been cancelled which will spread negativity.

The low opening was always on the cards as there was not much of interest among the audience. Earlier it looked like a fun film which will appeal towards kids and family audience. However, the later promos and songs were very confusing. As a result, a large section of the audience has stayed away.
Jagga Jasoos has turned out to be a niche film. It needs to work in the five metros to achieve a reasonable total. The film is made on a medium budget of 100 crores including P&A. It needs to collect over 120 crores for recovering costs. It looks like an uphill task as of now.

According to the early trade trends, Jagga Jasoos 1st day collection will be poor and will not even reach double digit number. The film will require a massive growth in the evening for registering a reasonable number.

Barfi is 1 fluke & it was saved by PC plus Oscar nomination hype which pushed it collection.
Jagga Jasoos despite having nothing much going for it has taken a better opening than Kaabil in metros and A centres in terms of occupancy and collections. Jagga Jasoos has been released on close to 1800 screens while Kaabil was released on 2550 screens as it had more single screens. The difference is B and C centres where Jagga Jasoos has a limited release so collections are also limited. Even if the film did get a release at these places it would have hardly collected. Below are the admit figures of first shows for Jagga Jasoos and Kaabil with the cinema counts taken from each centre listed next to the city.
