Why couldn't Neerja do much for Sonam's career?

a big solo hit

an acclaimed performance

still a year and a half and not a single release since Neerja

also the forthcoming projects are nothing amazing..a much stuck second lead role in Veere de wedding..a cameo in Dutt..akki's padman which again seems more centered on akki..

she is still not counted in top 10 actresses..

it normally takes one movie to do the trick

but why couldn't her career see the highs which

kareena's saw after JWM

kangana's saw after Queen

or deepika's saw after Cocktail..

to name a few

what went wrong? not like she doesn't have contacts..so even that can't be said here..

she is obnoxious...people will never truly root for a person with that kind of personality (even if they fake it on social media n pretend to like her)

Because success ration of Sonam is still doubtful. Producer are not willing to take risk for Sonam they don't have any faith on individual Sonam Kapoor.

Because she's not a good actress, plain and simple.

Neerja was a hit because of its story, not because of Sonam. Any mediocre actress could've acted in that movie and it still would've been a hit.

fashion is her priority...she does films so she gets a platform to showcase her fashion n go to Cannes etc...for everyone else it's the other way round... they do films n fashion is jus the by product

She was bad in neerja. They didnt realize but people got emotional over neerja instead of sonam kapoor. 😆

Not enough of a fan base that roots for her I think and also I don't see a burning passion or desire in her to be a hugely successful actress.

If Sonam was the reason for Neerja being a ht, then we can argue Sushanth was the reason Dhoni was a big hit.

We all know story was the reason these were a big hit. JWM, Cocktail and Kangana, they were the heroines of the story, the primary reason if not one of the main reasons it worked. IMO Neerja would have been a hit if anyone else played it too though credit must be given to Sonam.

Sonam has always taken her sweet time to movies. Moreover, Veere Di Wedding was supposed to be canned by now but Bebo got pregnant and it was impossible to get her an insurance. These two facts resulted in the scipt being rewritten.

Let's not forget that Sonam launched her own label this year with her sister and that both of them are heavily involved in the creation process as well as the promotion.

Sonam also had other commitments so she didn't sit around doing for a year. Between endorsing some campaigns, doing photoshoots, switching management firm, being a showstopper at the Paris Fashion Week...
