Wow.
If there ever was an example of eyes speaking a different language of their own... it is given by Rishi and Tanuja. The way their eyes spoke today! It was a sight to behold!
Starting from the first scene, I know Rishi is trying to control his mother and that's a very mature and sensible decision he made because he knows that he's the only person Rano listens to in that house. She has no respect for her husband or else she wouldn't have created the tamasha that she did. Rishi handled and tamed her really smartly and kudos to him and his efforts in keeping his father's illness in mind. 👏
Not hearing too much of Rano was a real plus point for the episode because it showed just how much influence Rishi has on his mother and how irrational Rano is. It's ironic that being a woman she talks about another in such a way. It may be true for people like Bani that women can be evil and talk in ways that have ulterior motives. But Rano doesn't have to shove that theory down Rishi's throat. He has a brain of his own and will use it when it comes to trusting Tanuja or not. We are yet to see what Rishi's behaviour really will be like despite what he's said to Rano. Something tells me he doesn't entirely mean what he's saying.
Coming to the scene with Raj and the family coming to visit him. This scene was so beautifully shot for it's positive vibes and for the tension highlighted between TanShi. Raj explains that he's not at all sick (just like any elderly person would say) and it was nice to see the family be by his side. It was nice to see Tanuja come to see him, despite what people are saying about her. Her connection with Raj goes beyond this janam and that has always attracted her to him as a fatherly figure. She cares so much for him as he does for her. That bond is unbreakable and so lovely to witness. Rishi was of course witnessing the same and the way he looked at Tanuja gave me goosebumps!! 😳 He can see the trust they have in each other and is trying so hard to control his own emotions for her at the same time. I loved the way he stopped Rano from charging at Tanuja and how he controlled her behaviour while in Raj's presence. Raj said all the things we wanted to hear from him. He truly accepts her as his daughter and wants her to treat him the same. "Call me Bauji" he says. "Bauji" Tanuja replies with reverence and emotion. Rishi catches onto this and can't help containing himself. So much that he's observed about her but this one moment he cannot deny as being pure and without any malicious intent. Smiley seems to be on Tanuja's side and does not mind having her as Chucks' bride. They have a friendly bond which is nice to see.
The little flashback was sweet as it was endearing to see Tanuja having a gal to gal talk with someone in the house. Other than Ahana, of course Ahana's own daughter is there to accompany her. The way Smiley asked Tanuja those questions raised all kinds of emotions and feelings in Tanuja. Why of course they would if she was decorating Rishi's bed for his wedding night! She could never have imagined that she would be the one who would be at the receiving end of the rounds, garland, mangalsutra, and vermillion!! She faintly touches her forehead and her chain in reminiscence of what she had thought only hours before and where she is standing now.
Just then, she hears a slam of the door and sees Rishi standing by the door. I don't know about you but I found it absolutely hilarious when Rishi explained why he shut the door -- "woh, dad..." *awkward silence* 😆
Rishi advances towards Tanuja and notices her glistening eyes. Tanuja had her head lowered and they both stand there in search of an escape. They cannot look each other in the eye and cannot begin to think of what they want to say to each other. What are they to do? This marriage, one which was never meant to be, happened. Now what?
"Do you plan on just standing all night?" He asks.
Tanuja lowers herself to sit on the bed. They awkwardly look away as the rose petals on the bed shaped like a heart stare back at them. To break the tension Rishi looks away and glances at the window. The night is bright and the moon is shining in the sky. Is he searching for Tanu? His Tanu? Oh naive man, look behind you, for your Tanu is finally yours!!!! I felt like saying. He searches for answers, for some sort of signal that what he's doing is right. Tanuja cannot bare to sit there on the bed that wasn't meant for her and goes to undo herself of the bridal adornments. She touches the chain that Rishi so rightfully placed back around her neck a few moments ago. She takes off her veil and stares back at herself in the mirror. "What will happen now?" She wonders.
As Rishi stares into the sky and Tanuja into the reflection of herself as a new bride, questions and silence begs them both to speak up.
Cannot wait for more to come! 😳
PS: I've said this before and I say it again, the music director for this show is awesome! They choose such apt songs to really bring each moment alive. Such a soulful and sweet melody they have chosen for the moment Tanuja enters the room.
