In Lanka Ram's camp was in utter despair. Their only hope now was Hanuman. Hit by Meghnadh's Shakthi Laxman was battling between life and death. Ram and Sita together were doing Mahamritunjaay jaap.
In Ayodhya Kirti ran to Sumitra's room. " Mata come fast. Something is wrong with Urmila didi"
Sumitra ran to Urmila's chamber. She could see Urmila's body still. Her hands were cold. Her breath was faint
" Kirti go and tell Shatrughna to call Vaidyaji. Ask Mandavi to come immediately here" told Sumitra and started to press Urmila's hand as Kirti ran to carry out the instructions.
" Arya " Laxman heard the voice. She felt so near, yet so far. He himself was not sure where he was. His Ram Bhaiyya's voice rang as if in distance. But her voice, her voice was so near. Between the far away white light on one side and him she stood. First her look was like an apparition, then she came to clear view
" Where are you going Sumitranandan. Where are you going without completing your duties. You came to protect your bhaiyya and Bhabi. You promised me you will come back to me after 14 years"
" Urmila, I want to come back, but that white light is pulling me and I am unable to go back"
" Sumitra Nandan the white light cannot take you, before it takes me. I had taken your sleep. If fate is putting you to eternal sleep, then before that it has to put me at eternal sleep. I will stand here, till you go back where you should go"
" Laxman tried to reach her, but he was unable to. He was stuck where he was as he couldn't move forward as she was blocking the way
" Sri Ram " told the vaidya. Laxman's pulse has somewhat strengthened. He is holding on. Ram caressed his brother's hair. " Laxman my brother just hold on, Hanuman will come, he will come with medicine for you"
Trijadha came to Sita " Putri Sita. There is some comfortable news for you. Laxman is holding on. His pulse has strengthened." Sita felt happy and started chanting Mahamritunjaay mantra with more fervor
Ayodhya was tensed. Vaidya couldn't understand what is wrong with Urmila. She looked almost dead. Now all the queens were in Urmila's chamber. " Shatrughna send for Rajguru Vashistha" ordered Kausalya. " Now only Guruji" can do something. Mandavi and Sumitra continued pressing Urmila's hands. Kausalya caressed her hair. Kaikeyi told " Hey Mahadev if you want to take any life I am there. Don't take this young girl. A full life is there in front of her"
" Kaikeyi didi now don't feel guilty. Whatever happened has, happened let us hope for the best"
" Urmila I am feeling weak. I cannot stand anymore. Move from my path. I have to go " told Laxman
" No Sumitra Nandan. This teekhi mirchi has not married a weak man. You have to stand where you are. I have fulfilled my promise of letting you go for your brother's service. Now you will have to complete that, come back and fulfill your promise"
Laxman wanted to tell something more. But he was hearing noises from other end now.
Bharat came running. All the mother's looked at him. " Mata Kausalaya, Mata Sumitra. I met Hanuman. Lakshman is gravely injured in battle. Hanuman is taking medicine for him. It has to reach him before sunrise"
" Kausalya di, is Urmila's condition associated with that. Have she understood her husband's condition even in sleep" asked Sumitra
Before Kausalya could reply Vashistha came. He looked at Urmila, kept his hand over her head and focused. He smiled
" Please don't worry. Urmila's soul is guarding Lakshman. She is standing between him and death. She has gone to give time for Hanuman to get the required medicine. She will come back once Lakshman open his eyes"
The Vaidya gave the medicine to Lakshman. Ram looked eagerly at his brother. Lakshman opened his eyes, saw his brother. But where was she. She was standing so near him. Between him and a white light. Was it a dream he thought as he saw the entire vanar sena in unbound joy and his brother weeping like a child calling him " Bhaiyya" he hugged Ram.
In Ayodhya Urmila's breathing became normal and everyone heaved a sigh of relief
In Lanka Sulochana sat before the mirror and wore the solah sringaar. News of Laxman surviving the Shakthi has reached her. She completed her look as she knew today might be the last day she will be wearing those
