I assumed your response was geared towards me because it didn't have any quote from Kareena, I was just trying to discuss the topic that did stem from her interview, but wasn't the point of the topic so I assumed your aggression was geared at the TM. I've had people get personal before.

The list in the other thread, I'm counting everyone that had opportunities post marriage or post preggers regardless of hits/flops: Kajol, Aish, Vidya, Kareena, Juhi, Madhuri, Karisma, Sharmila, Moushami Chatterjee, Nutan, Dimple, Hema, Shabana, Koko, Suchitra Sen, Nandita, actresses from the South, etc.
And then all the others that play side characters. Granted they might not be A-listers but they still have a whole career going.

I honestly don't think it's any different in BW than any other field. I mean aren't women in our culture sort of expected to have their careers take the back seat once they become moms? BW isn't any different, just reflects what the social norm is. Jaya Bachchan is a good example of that argument--gave up her flourishing career to become a full time housewife. And Sharmila Tagore is a good example of the flip side--still posed in bikini after marriage, had more work post Saif and still considered for top opportunities. I def think she had the choice to go either way.

I never said they don't have opportunities, some have, but they just don't pursue careers full fledged. And that's the point.

And I disagree about other careers taking backseat after kids.

I know so many doctors that are moms, but are working full time. I assume the same of other fields. Not the case in Bollywood though. Why?

It's self imposed. Why do the girls stop after kids?

And I don't think it's the audiences fault. I don't think they stop
Finding the women desirable. I mean look at Malaika Arora, mom, wife. Super hot. Still doing sexy dance numbers.

It's the girls themselves. They put a stop to their own careers and I'm trying to figure out what factors play into that decision, other than kids, coz other fields have working moms, full time, so it cannot be JUST children

Most women like to take time off..a child is such a precious gift for normally all moms, so much excitement and happiness for family members. They don't want work hassles coming i the way esp when the child is still an infant. And needs special care.
It's a new world opening up, if given the choice, women do want to savour everything related to motherhood.

Of course, there are those with work pressures, money pressures, those who are on a upward climb in career, they can't afford to stay away like a stay at home, or owning own business mom can afford to do.

But Kareena is different. She doesn't know anything apart from films, has no friends apart from film folk, has no interest apart from acting and clothes, so it's difficult for her to let go. She is viewing her pregnancy as a threat to her career for which she has gone to more lengths than the average actress does...fighting and clawing her way to stay in the game. Otherwise, which actress reacts like this to a beautiful news which normally women start glowing and being blissfully happy about.

How exactly do people assume Kareena views her pregnancy as a threat?
Just coz she's still caring about her career somehow translates to her NOT caring about her baby or pregnancy? And what is the assumption based of her? Her W*F statements? Which she has been given since a million years?

She said the SAME thing about her marriage and Saif. Now you're gonna tell me she views her marriage and Saif as a threat? 😆

What did she say about her marriage with saif. She was begging him to marry her, after all they lived together before marrying for how many years and she was no spring chicken by then.

Her W*F statements are what hv garnered her the rep of being most insecure actress ever in bollywood.

She is in no way a Neetu Singh or KAJOL ,
who happily said bye bye to films, for a few years after marriage and children, you could see how utterly happy they were to take up their new role.

First of all, thank you for understanding the point of the topic and adding to the discussion.
I think the same. I think it's a combo of in laws, husband, children.

But what's strange is, all these factors exist in all others fields as well, but I don't see this trend of woman stopping work completely after marriage.
Let's assume a woman who's a computer engineer, or a Phsyician. She will have a family, she'll have in laws, be married, but she continues to work.

Isn't it strange that only in the Industry we don't see that trend?
I think it has to do with the Desi mindset of what is "inappropriate" for a bahu or daughter in law. Most in laws would be perfectly fine iwht their bahu working in the office, being a physician, etc. But somewhere, our people cannot accept her acting or romancing other actors onscreen.

The exceptions like Vidya, Kareena, Aishwarya all married into film families or actors, so they are more understanding.

You can't compare other career like doctor lawyer with actresses because on those fields women are not required to romance other men. Men are possessive when it comes to their wives romancing other men. Even many people does not allow their daughters to enter in film. Many people wants their kids especially daughters to become teacher scientist doctor lawyear. How many people say that they want their daughter to become actress? Even many BW stars doesn't allow their daughter to enter BW. Actors like amitabh bachan rishi kapoor didn't allow their daughter to enter in BW. Sanjay dutt talked about how he doesn't want his daughter to enter in BW and how it is insecure place for women and we all know how kapoor family was against karishma kapoor to enter BW. If that's the case for daughter then it will be more strict for wife and daughter in law of some family to continue working in film. I agree with you that actresses can continue working if they are married to filmi family like kareena aiswariya vidya balan or even kajol. These actresses married with actors or producers along with filmi family which why their in laws doesn't have much problems for them to continue working on movies but it depends on the situation too and the family they are married to. Rani is also married into a filmi family and it is the biggest family on BW but she had been absent for long time in movies. Saif's first wife amrita quit working after marriage. Same with twinkle. It was probably their choice not to work to take care of their family kids or probably their husband or in laws doesn't want them to work in films after marriage.
