He has had some terrible flops, but he has some great hits to his name as well. In recent times his performance has matured significantly.

He is one of those actors who need strong, author-backed roles and stories to shine. Keeping this in mind along with the lack of great or innovative writing in BW, he has had as good a career as anyone can ask for.
