For me it actually depends on the book and writer. Classics are a different genre altogether and they've got that "classic" factor about them. If classics were to be published today I don't think they would have received the respect they get today. I like classics because it is that door to a world which I've never experienced.Contemporary novels have a less complex language and plot compared to classics. Maybe it's because our lives have become a lot less complex. We can't imagine Pride and Prejudice happening today, can we?There are contemporary authors who don't deserve the popularity they get, but there are authors who're amazing.I'm glad we have both classics and contemporary books and I love Austen as much as I love Gayle Forman.
