Hey guys! 😃

I am here with a new post. Okay now, very honestly, I find contemporary writers a bit weak in terms of story telling and the plot structure itself. The only contemporary writer I love is JK Rowling.

The contemporary writers are wonderful, no doubt. But they lack that finish (totally my opinion) which is prevalent in classic writers. There are very good writers like Khaled Hosseini and JK Rowling and others as well but then I see many other writers like Chetan Bhagat, Stephanie Meyer (again my opinion) and other who are widely popular yet they are not quite impressive to me.

Classic writers, I feel, have something which makes them so good at story telling. Maybe it is the fact that I am reading a story of some other era that makes me interested but certainly, I like many more classic writers than contemporary ones. Jane Austen, Harper Lee, Leo Tolstoy and many others.

What are you thoughts guys?

P.S. I finish Emma and To Kill a Mockingbird (both were beautiful) and now I am reading Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. 😊

For me it actually depends on the book and writer. Classics are a different genre altogether and they've got that "classic" factor about them. If classics were to be published today I don't think they would have received the respect they get today. I like classics because it is that door to a world which I've never experienced.

Contemporary novels have a less complex language and plot compared to classics. Maybe it's because our lives have become a lot less complex. We can't imagine Pride and Prejudice happening today, can we?

There are contemporary authors who don't deserve the popularity they get, but there are authors who're amazing.

I'm glad we have both classics and contemporary books and I love Austen as much as I love Gayle Forman.

Yes. That is true. Even I think that if classic novels were published today, they won't receive such acclaim.
that is what I meant. Contemporary time has seen many great authors just like the classic ones. At the end, it all depends on the plot.

Classics have a whole different feel to them but contemporary novels have more variety. We explore much greater genres than the classic ones (not always a good things though). It has been the reason behind great popularity of many novels.

I think both the groups have their fair share of good and bad writers. At the end, it is the book that matters.

Though I guess I'll always be baised towards the classics.😆

I can easily give u a simple answer for this question ,When it comes to Contemporary writers versus the classical writers ,the words used by classical writers indeed attract our view so elegantly ,they do it with an ease but as far as the Contemporary writers are concerned they indeed love to spread modernism as u resource the British lit ,it gives u a clear idea of the various movements that influenced including the Modernism especially Bloomsbury group they had an idea to reject all the poetic norms established by Classical writers ,earlier we had certain pattern to write a poem ,including the rhyme scheme ,the metre ,the poetic devices all have to be placed at the right point but as the Victorian and the Edwardian Era blossomed even Sonnet's form met with an evolution too with "Pied Beauty" a modern version of a Sonnet .
The structure when it comes to Modern Era's drama's the plays too ,that is Shaw's plays entirely had a different structure ,they were not constructed as per the Frey Tag's pyramid but exposition ,rising action, climax, falling action and resolution was made a change ,we really love those orderly fashion structure and also contemporary writers indeed wrote on themes mostly on real life incidents and the pattern and the plot with which they made stories was indeed little bit chaotic ,that too calls for the reasons that contemporary writers are exact opposites of classic writers but ,I indeed love both the age writers.
