I guess This time Ashok will lose the battle to bring twist in the tale. Already, Bindusar is Angry with him plus they dont have that much wealth to support their army and adding to that, in the precap - Jagan Nath was telling was 1 lakh Elephants, 20 Thousand Horses etc etc describing how powerful his brother's army is.
Also, if we see logically, Ashok will be fighting a major War with Kalinga after growing up which will lead to death of Thousands of people. But if he wins the Battle this time, then Jagan Nath, Who is Future Father-in-Law of Ashok, will be become the King of Kalinga. So there is no point fighting such an ugly battle to his own father-in-law.
