"Rey?" I couldn't believe my eyes.

He turned around and I could swear that I saw that look of recognition in his eyes. But then again I had lost my brains. I was imagining my dead boyfriend looking at me. Feeling stupid at myself, I turned to search for my cousin who for some reason had decided to abandon me.

"You talking to me?" I heard him reply. 

Great! Now I'm hearing him as well.

"There you are!" My cousin, Sharon walked towards me. "I see you've already met him." She pointed behind me.

"Who?" I asked unsure. How could she see him? 

"Ro!" She pulled him down by the neck to her level.

"Stop doing that!" He got rid of her arm.

"Why? Afraid that it might spoil your hair style?" She taunted. 

"Taani, stop doing that! Do you even know how long it took to set them?" Rey yelled at me when I ruffled his styled hair. 

Tears brimmed to my eyes and I fled. I could hear Sharon calling out for me but I didn't pay any heed to it and ran out of the club as fast as I could. I needed fresh air. Who was he? And why did he look exactly like Rey?

"Easy there. Here, let me help you." Sharon placed a pillow behind me and helped me get up. 

How was I in my bed? Was I dreaming?

"You scared me to death! How did you faint? And why did you run out of the club?"

"So that wasn't a dream?"

"No, it wasn't!"

"I fainted?"

"Yeah. I was on your trail and saw you faint. Thank goodness Ro caught up to you and saved you from hitting your head. He was the one who helped me get you back home."

"Ro?"

"Rohan. Remember I told you about my friend whom I wanted you to meet? That was him."

This means he was real. But how can that be even possible?

"Taani, why are you acting so weird?" Sharon asked with concern.

"Who was he? And how do you even know him?" I asked her.

"Ro is my friend."

"Who is in his family? Does he have a brother? Probably a twin?"

"He is a single child. But why are you asking so many questions about Ro?"

"Are you sure that he doesn't have a brother?" I asked again completely ignoring her question.

"Taani you have lost your mind!" Sharon was fed up. I could see that.

"I'm sorry. I.. I'll just sleep for some time." I lied down.

"Hey, I didn't mean it. I know you are upset with.." She looked at me tongue tied. "Anyways, you rest for some time. I'll wake you up for lunch." She kissed my forehead.

Her phone rang, and she stepped a little further so as to not disturb me. Her genuine concern for me warmed my heart.

"Yeah Ro she is fine." I heard her talk.

Is she talking to him? And how is he even real? Or am I just imagining Rey in him? What is wrong with me? Why am I thinking about Rey so much since last night? Why can't I get him out of my head?

"Aaahhh!" I screamed pulling my hair out.

"Ro, I'll call you back." Sharon ended the call and came running to me. "Taani what happened? Why are you crying? Taani?" She hugged me.

"Why does everyone I love die on me? Why?" I cried in her arms while she soothed me.

"What happened?" Rohan was panting when he reached the door to my room.

"Ro?" Sharon looked at him with wide eyes.

I just couldn't move my eyes past him. How did he look exactly like Rey?

"I heard her scream on the phone. I thought something was wrong." He said still panting.

I went up to him and held him by his collars. "Who are you?"

"Taani what are you doing?" Sharon tried to pull me away, but I had a lot going on my mind.

"He is lying to you Sharon and I will prove it to you."

I caught the hem of his T-shirt and tried to pull it up.

"What are you doing?" He resisted me.

"Taani leave him." Sharon pulled me back while he fixed his shirt. "I'm sorry Ro."

"He is not Ro. I can prove that to you." I glared at her then him.

"Taani, we've just met. I don't know what I have done to deserve such hatred from you." He said.

"You've lied to me Rey!" I yelled at him.

"Taani." Sharon hugged me tight. "Rey is no more. You have to accept that."

"I can't accept that when he is standing right in front of me!"

"What do you mean?" She questioned.

"This" I pulled out my phone and showed a picture of Rey. "is Rey."

"How is that possible?" Sharon wondered.

"Why does he look like me?" Rohan wondered seeing the picture.

"Stop lying!"

"Why will I lie?" I am Rohan.

"Do you have any proof of it?" I glared at him.

"I can show you all my legal documents. They are in my name. Rohan Singh!"

"First you fake your death and now you've forged these documents. I don't believe any of it Rey."

"I am not Rey!" He shouted.

"Then remove your T-shirt and prove it!"

"Rohan just go from here. I'll handle her." Sharon intervened.

"She wants proof, right? I'll give her the proof." He removed his T-shirt.

I couldn't take my eyes off him. I knew this body inch by inch. I can never forget it. He is my Rey. But, why is he lying?

"Done staring?" He smirked.

"You just want an excuse to get me naked right? I know you love staring at my body." Rey smirked at me and in return received a pillow on his face.

"Turn around." I ordered.

"Oh, now you want a twirl?" He glared at me.

"Ro!" Sharon shook her head asking him to stop.

"Fine." He turned. "Now what?"

"Where is that scar?" I walked up to him to inspect his back.

"What scar?"

"There was a scar right here." I touched his back and I swear I felt him stiffen for a second.

"Taani stop it." Sharon pulled me back. "Rey is dead. He is Rohan. Accept it!"

"Then why does he look exactly like Rey? Why?" I started crying.

Sharon took me to my bed and gave me some water to drink.

"I'm really sorry for what happened to your boyfriend. But I am not him." He came an sat in front of me and wiped my tears.

"First Rey left me and then dad. Why am I so unlucky?"

His head shot towards me and our eyes met.

"Don't blame yourself Taani." Sharon soothed my back.

"No Sharon." I removed her hand from my back. "You shouldn't be near me. You will die because of me as well. Please let me be."

"Hey, hey, stop saying that." Ro held my hands. "You're not unlucky. I'm sure your dad and boyfriend loved you and no one blames you."

"You need to rest for some time." Sharon put me to bed.

"Please don't leave me alone." I told Sharon as I tightened my hold on Rohan's hand.

"We won't!" He placed his other hand on mine.

"Get out! I don't want to see your face." I pouted at Rey.

"You've got no choice as I'm not leaving you." He winked and pulled me to him.

 ...

"Good morning sleepy head. Slept well?" I heard a voice as I slowly opened my eyes.

"Rey." My lips curved into a smile.

"Um.. guess again." He said.

My eyes shot open as the past few hours registered in my head.

"Rohan?" I eyed him.

"There you go!" He smiled cheerfully.

"What are you doing here?"

He looked down at my hand which was holding him tight. I quickly released his hand. He opened and closed his hand to loosen the muscles.

"Sorry." I mouthed.

"I didn't mind it a bit." He gave me a warm smile.

"Also, I'm sorry for whatever I said. I wasn't in my mind." I looked away.

"It's alright. You're still grieving."

"How do you..?"

"Sharon told me. I'm sorry for your loss."

"But what I did has no excuse. I humiliated you. I shouldn't have done that."

"I said it's ok."

"No, it isn't!"

"God! You're so stubborn!" He held his head. "You want to make it up to me?" He asked.

I nodded.

"Then freshen up and I'll come and pick you up in an hour."

"Where are we going?"

"Hey relax. I'm not gonna kidnap you. It's just dinner." He chuckled.

The sound of his chuckle reminded me of Rey. I guess I should go out with him. I need to find out why he looks exactly like Rey.

"Okay. I'll be ready." I agreed.

"I see you guys have already made plans without me." Sharon said from the door.

"You can join us as well." I told her.

"I don't want a sympathy invite." She rolled her eyes at me. "And don't bother because I have plans for tonight. You guys carry on."

"Okay then. See you in an hour." Rohan left.

"You told him about the accident?" I asked Sharon.

"He had questions after what happened in the morning." Sharon shrugged her shoulders.

Wow, I can't believe I slept for the entire day.

"You don't mind, do you?" She asked me.

"What?"

"That I told him about Rey? I didn't want him to hate you for all that happened. I had to make him understand your condition."

"I'm not mad, Sharon. And he really is a good person." I smiled at her.

"That he is." She sat beside me. "You'll really like him."

"Sharon." I looked at her.

"I know, I know. But it's been two years, I think it's time that you move on in your life."

"With someone who looks exactly like my dead boyfriend? I guess not."

"Okay not him. But promise me that you will consider it. If love comes your way, you won't run."

"I'll try." I smiled.

"That's my girl!" She hugged me and left.

"So how has Australia treated you so far?" Rohan asked me.

"Good I guess."

"You guess?" He raised his brow.

"I mean it's just been a few days and I already feel like I'm a burden here." I looked away from him.

"Why do you hate yourself so much?"

"What else am I supposed to do? The people I loved the most left me. I have forced myself in Sharon's life. And you have taken me out on a pity dinner."

"It's not a pity dinner."

"Yeah right!" I rolled my eyes at him.

"Oh wait I was wrong, you don't hate yourself. You just want others to pity you."

"You know nothing about me. So, stop judging me."

"Isn't that what you did?" He eyed me.

"You look like Rey. I thought you were him. How is that judging?"

"I'm not taking about that. Did you even consider that I might have brought you here to know you better? Or are you just habituated with receiving pity from everyone?"

"Why do you even want to know me?"

"Because I feel like there's more to you. You're not just a pretty face." He winked.

"Are you trying to flirt? If so, then please don't."

"Why? Afraid you won't be able to resist my charm?" He smirked.

"No. I'm quite capable of that. But I've made a promise to Sharon that I will move on and it would be weird if it's you."

"So, you are saying that I have no chance?"

"Yes."

"Is that a challenge?"

"Shup up Rohan." I laughed.

"Oh my God, was that a laugh?" He widened his eyes dramatically.

"Stop." I whined still laughing.

"This suits you. Not that gloomy old sad face." He smiled back at me.

"I would trade anything in this world for your smile, Taani." Rey tilted his head and looked lovingly at me.

"So, tell me what do you want to know about me?" I asked changing the subject.

If I have to move on, I should probably stop thinking about Rey so much.

"Whatever you wish to tell me." He smiled warmly. At this instant he looked so much like Rey.

"Rohan, I know you mean well but please don't flirt with me. I don't like it."

I felt awful. He was just trying to cheer me up.

"Okay then let's shift focus. I'm sure you have a lot of questions for me. Shoot!"

"I have only one question for which you have no answer to."

"My resemblance to Rey!"

"Are you sure you have no idea about any relation you might have to him?"

"Tell me about his family, we might find something."

"He was an orphan."

"What a coincidence, I am too." He chuckled like it was some joke.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know."

I know how much Rey craved for a family of his own. I'm sure he feels the same.

"Don't be. I once craved for a family but due to certain circumstances I feel happy that I don't have one." He said bitterly.

"I guess I'm not the only damaged good here."

"Everyone is damaged in their own way luv."

"What did you just say?" I shot my head up at him.

"That everyone is damaged in their own way."

"After that."

"After what?" He looked at me confused.

"Did you say anything after that?" I narrowed my eyes at him.

"I don't think I did."

Why did he call me luv? And why is he behaving like he didn't say it? I made a promise to Sharon that I will move past Rey, but here I feel like I'm sitting right in front of him.

"Hey?" He waved his hand in front of me.

"Sorry I.. I'm not feeling that well. Can we leave?"

"You've hardly eaten anything." He said with concern.

"I'm full Rey. I got up."

"Taani wait, I'll drop you home." He got up behind me.

Why did he not correct me?

"Are you alright?" Rohan asked when he saw me pressing my forehead.

"I think my headache has returned."

"Why don't you sleep for some time. We have a long way home."

I nodded and closed my eyes. Within minutes I fell asleep, or so he thought. I wanted to know his truth and I was willing to go to any lengths for it. He not only looked like Rey, but his mannerisms too resembled him. Today he made me feel the same way I felt when I was with Rey. My heart says that his is my Rey. But I don't know how to prove it.

"Already asleep? Well that's a first."

What did he mean by that?

"God you look beautiful tonight. You have no idea how I have controlled myself luv."

My eyes almost flung open when he said that.

"I wish things were still the same."

He is definitely Rey! But why is he lying?

"I wish I could hold you in my arms. I wish I could kiss.. Stop it Rey! Remember your promise. You can't be in her life."

Promise? To whom?

"I thought faking my death would get me out of your life. But I guess I was wrong."

"Why did you fake your own death?" I asked opening my eyes.

He urgently applied breaks and looked at me.

"I thought you were asleep."

"I asked you something Rey. Why did you fake your own death?"

"I don't think I had any other choice. Anyways it's not important."

"What do you mean by it's not important?" I shouted. "You planned that accident to fake your own death. Did you even consider that I might die in it for real?"

He covered my mouth immediately as I said that.

"You didn't like to hear it right? Guess what? I was living with this for two years!"

"I'm sorry. I never wanted to hurt you."

"I don't believe a word you say. I have been mourning you for two years while you have been here, living your life."

"I can't give you justification for what I did and why I did."

"You have no justification to give!" I interrupted him.

"Do you still want me to drop you home, or should I call a cab?" He asked getting out of the car. I got out after him.

"Why are you acting so weird Rey? A while ago you wanted to take me in my arms and kiss me and now.. why? Was I not good enough for you? Tears brimmed in my eyes."

"Taani please don't say that. That's not true."

"Then please tell me. I can't live like this Rey." I held his hands.

"I can't." His voice broke.

He is hiding something from me.

"Why?"

"I can't Taani. Please."

"You have to tell me Rey!"

"I can't tell you because I know you won't believe me."

"I believed your fake demise. I'm pretty sure this wouldn't be hard to believe." I glared at him through my tears.

"Would you believe if I said that your father asked me to leave you and never look back in bargain for your life."

"You're lying. He would never do that. Dad liked you and he was happy that I was with you."

"Like I said, you wouldn't believe me. He wanted me out of your life."

"Why?"

"He didn't want his daughter to be with someone like me. And I agreed to leave you. But he made sure that I did, when he planned that accident. He didn't just want me out of your life, he wanted me dead." Rey said bitterly.

"That can't be possible!"

"Have you ever thought why you escaped that accident with only a few scratches, but I died?"

"You're lying right?"

Dad would never do such a thing. Or did he? I remember when he was ill, he kept apologizing for something. But I never asked him what. Maybe he was sorry for what he did and asked for my forgiveness. But if all of this is true, I can never forgive him. How could he do this to me?

"He came to me and warned me of what he would do to you if I didn't leave you. I'm sorry I betrayed your love and I don't mind living with your hatred for the rest of my life. I just couldn't let anything happen to you." A tear left his eye.

"You could have told me all this."

"I'm sorry."

 "You should be!"

He nodded his head and started walking backwards 

"Where do you think you are going? I'm not done yet! You can't just bump into me two years after your pretentious death, tell me how pathetic of a father I had and walk off! You always do that. You always have to be the martyr. Just because my dad didn't want you in my life that doesn't mean that I want the same."

He looked at me with hope filled eyes and a smile began to form on his lips. 

"Don't you dare smile!"

His smile grew.

"Your smile is not going to affect me!"

"I know." He grinned and took a step forward. 

"Stop right there. I haven't given you to permission move."

"I wonder what I have to do to get that? May be this."

He pulled me and crashed his lips on mine.
